First off let me say that I’m possibly the biggest fan in the world of boutique shopping as I love finding original pieces. I decided to have a girly day shopping for my «anniversary dinner dress» and after seeing the window displays had high hopes for this store. Unfortunately my day was cut short by a «Pretty Woman» experience to say the least… Having been ignored when I first entered the shop and then met with a snooty attitude, I decided I didn’t want to try on the pretty black lace dress after all. Luckily I found something perfect with a matching clutch nearby anyway. For sure I would have purchased the first dress I saw should the girl not of made me feel so uncomfortable and well… Crappy. Heads up sales assistants: Latina women love to shop

Buying my friend some winter stuff here. The girls sorted me out… Really were up to date with fashion, and have a great laugh with while shopping… Felt a little out of place when I went in, but sure I’m a guy in a girls shop what do you expect? Some really nice stuff here… way out of mu budgetary needs but I got what I needed. Chatted to the girls in the store for 20mins afterwards about who knows. I’ve forgotten half the crap that ever comes out of my mouth. But sure I was happy and more importantly so was the other half…

Like the other reviews I wouldn’t have good things to report from my experience in the place. We went specifically to look at the bridal collection they have upstairs and I really was not impressed. Firstly the range is very narrow — they admit themselves that they just get a few dresses per season, so don’t expect much, and the range of sizes is quite small. The space itself is a nice one being above the shop. Like the other reviews what surprised me was the attitude. Not that the salesgirl wasn’t polite, she was, but the«policy» was terrible. First we were informed that as these were not sample dresses but the ones people would buy only 3 or 4 dresses could be tried on. Yep I’m confused about that too… wouldn’t you want to sell things? But the worst offending thing was that my friend, the bride to be, was asked to put what was effectively a muslin bag over her head to ‘prevent any make-up or moisturiser getting on the dresses’. Honestly, wtf? Certainly not the special shopping experience one should have when getting a dress. I say just don’t bother!

Costume has some truly incredible garments from some of today’s most important and popular designers. Proenza Schouler, J Mendel, Badgley Mischka, Temperly and more are all represented. The merchandise is very, very high end with prices ranging from a few hundred to thousands of euros. One thing I found really curious, however, is that the stock isn’t arranged very nicely. It seems like each rack was kind of jammed full of garments. In a store selling apparel of this caliber, you expect to see things nicely spaced out and taken care of. I know they’re just clothes, but it seems like they don’t get handled as nicely as they should. Another thing that sucks about this place is, as the other girls said, the customer service. I truly cannot stand when I am treated like complete shit by snooty sales staff. On this day I was dressed in jeans, and a Marc Jacobs jacket. Do you think they could tell the jeans only cost me 8 euros? Could they sniff me out? Whatever it was, they wanted nothing to do with me. Why treat potential customers in this way? Obviously, it’s having a negative affect as you can see by the terrible ratings this place is getting. I, for one, will not be back.

So I went in here looking for a dress for a wedding. I tried on one that I thought was nice. While I was wriggling into it and trying to zip myself up the sales lady walked straight into me(I hate that). «How is everything going in here?» Taken aback, I told her I didn’t think that it suited me and she said«Yes, I didn’t think so.» Am I crazy, or is that supposed to be good salesmanship? Some of the dresses are nice and they have skirts and bodices filling up the whole basement so if that’s what you’re looking for, there here. But, the sales ladies are not very friendly and the prices are pretty steep. I get the impression they don’t want people like me shopping in this store. I’m not quite sure why?!

Urrrghhh! To be one of those horrid stuffy pretentious saleswoman who turns their nose down at anyone not bathed in Chanel must surely be the meaning of hell on Earth… I have ventured into Costume once or twice in my time, and I dare say I’ll venture in once or twice more, if only to experience the thrill of the slather of disdained looks thrown my way every time I attempt to browse in this store. What kind of woman convinces herself that, simply because another women is not clad in multi-million dollar apparel, she is not worth being acknowledged as a human being? I despise this materialistic and shallow view to life, and I will not let another woman belittle me simply because my pay packets are more appropriately spent at Penneys than Prada. And Costume really ain’t all that grand, when it comes down to it. Yes they sell nice dresses. Yes, those dresses happen to be priced in the region of around 500 euro. Yes that is about the sum of my entire life savings. So what? I wouldn’t shop there even if I could afford it. I don’t care how nice their clothes are. If the sales assistants won’t even crack a smile, or reply to any comment I make, what on earth would compel me to be here?

This two-story boutique carries a wide range of clothing from top designers including Alice Temperley and Anna Sui to newer labels such as Hoss Homeless. I spoil myself in this boutique when I receive my xmas bonus. It has a chic modern boutique atmosphere and is very modern and clean inside. There are usually 2 – 3 staffs working there so you get thhe sense of privacy of shopping around and in the changing room. Also the assistants are there to help if you need it or even just advice on what looks good on you. Great place with awesome fashion ranges.
