Big and bright with staff who are very careful with the meds they dole out — I had about a 3 min formal interview just to get a packet of nurofen plus.

I have to disagree I had a bad experience. I went in at 1230pm today 21st Aug and all the staff were chatting behind the pharmacy partition. I attempted several to get someone’s attention to no avail. I returned at 140pm and this time there were several tourists waiting and a Chinese couple clearly concerned with a medical matter. Still the staff were all chatting behind the pharmacy partition. A younger lady with brown hair in a long ponytail stacking shelves in the pharmacy section alerted the chatting staff that there were customers waiting a long time. The staff continued to chat behind the pharmacy partition. At 2pm I has to go back to work, was late for a meeting and had no medication. I won’t be returning, its the worst retail experience I have encountered.

Next time you’re in the Ballsbridge area and find yourself in need of plasters, mascara, medication or passport photos, Byrne’s Pharmacy is your mecca. There’s an awful lot of foot traffic flowing through the doors here, but staff are more than happy to take a moment to explain your medication or suggest a lip shade from the make up counter. Drop your prescription in and stop back after an elegant Roly’s lunch or coffee at The French Paradox to pick it up. Even if you don’t ask, there’s a good chance you’ll get a quick how-to on applications. Even better than it’s speedy service is the hours; staying open till 9pm most nights means that after that speed-metal show at the RDS you can pick up some Panadol for your aching head on the way home.
