Trendy hip café in a great location, found the staff a little bit not bothered-ish, that a side its a funky place and does have that«Berlin» café feel to it. The kicker for me was the € 6 price tag for a pint of Hop House! Nah…

So yes, this place is kitted out nicely and yes, I love their lighting and the music adds to the rather cool vibe going on here but I found the staff a little rude, we stood at the counter unsure whether it’s order at the counter or table service; finally the two staff behind the counter stopped their chit-chat to ask if we’re ok… I replied, yes we’d like to get some drinks and the awkwardness started from there… Do we sit, can we order here, do you have a menu… Eh, help us a little bit we clearly haven’t been here before! Doubt I’d be coming back too often, yes agree they’ve a cool café going on here but staff made me question it plus at € 6 for a pint, € 6 for mulled wine… Meh, there are nicer and more friendly places to hang out nearby

Coolest thing in dublin. I say thing because I don’t really know what it is. It’s like a hang out spot but it’s also like a pizza place and it’s also like a place where the staff sell you weed and they also like have a carpet but the carpet is outside. I think it’s also a squatters commune? They do arts and crafts on Wednesday and yoga on Friday. Its also sort of a library. But most of all it’s a day care centre for your kids. I left mine there for about 3 hours while I went shopping on Grafton Street.

Different vibe to most of the other establishments in the area. Berlin is cozy, compact and warm. Communal tables, good coffee, good beer and on the occasions I’ve been there, hood tunes! Well worth a stop — over if you’re in the vicinity!

I dropped in here for the first time yesterday evening for a late meeting at someone else’s suggestion. The place itself is stripped back, very simple and back to basics with very little hipster pretension that you can find elsewhere in this city. There is communal style seating with a couple of small individual tables. There’s some outdoor seating in the style of Pygmalion so I’d imagine it’s a great spot when it’s not lashing out like it was yesterday. I was hungry so went to order a panini until I found out that they were sold out of most food save for some pastries or soup — not a big deal. It’s refreshing to know that they don’t have mountains of pre-prepared food and only prepare what they need. I opted for the vegetable soup which was actually more like a minestrone — very tasty. It came with 4 x small pieces of soft bread roll and basil pesto on the side which was a nice touch. I’m not a big coffee nut but i like my flat white to be a flat white as opposed to a cappuccino — full marks here. Staff are really friendly and you get the impression that they actually want to engage with customers. All too often in places like this you see the staff really enjoying themselves but at the expense of customer service. There’s nothing worse than feeling second best to a team’s banter. Not so here so good job to everyone at Berlin. There’s a small table tennis table here that they can whip out which seems like a lot of fun. We didn’t try it but hope i to in the future, unless they convert the table to shelves like they have planned — don’t. I’ll definitely be back soon, especially since they open late.

WHAT a neat café. This place is just the right amount of different from the usual coffee shops around. If the name didn’t already give it away — it’s like a little piece of Berlin in Dublin. Which is refreshing. There’s little signs and the infamous Berlin bear about. There’s a nice section showcasing some local journals. The tables are wooden. There’s seating inside and out. I haven’t had their food, but it looked rather good. I did have a latte though. Which comes in a different plastic like cup. It’s stylish and I feel like I’m getting a good helping of coffee. These drinks are also served on a wooden slab, which adds some more aesthetic to it if you’re into taking a picture of your coffee… Overall, the coffee was swell. The atmosphere a nice change up.

We came for lunch on the weekend as they have 3 sandwich options — I got the serrano ham, pesto and mozzarella panini. It was okay, and I felt needed maybe a bit more seasoning. The goats cheese sandwich had a nice pepper sauce that might have gone nice with my sandwich. The cappuccino I ordered was a bit disappointing as well. Everything came out to be a bit pricey for what we were getting. There’s open/communal seating that’s different(and fun) — you can choose to sit on the ping pong table. :)

This is a cool little place in the centre of Dublin city, and well worth a visit! I’ve been there a handful of times and each experience has been very good. The café itself is a cool, well designed building and is very retro inside! It has a sit down table tennis table which is a genius idea. It has occasional Heineken and other products promotions where free things are given! I haven’t been to one yet but I’ve heard only the best of things The staff are all very friendly and bring a cool vibe to the place. It loses a star only due to the price. It’s a bit more expensive than the norm but well worth it at the same time! Food is also delicious! I highly recommend it!

I was meeting a friend for coffee and chat. I arrived first and was a bit put off with the distribution of places inside. There were sits outsides so we gave it a go and stayed there. The bar and concept of showing videos on the wall was nice, but the sitting system didn’t feel right. I had the hot chocolate which was tasty and nice, and my friend just had a glass of wine. Its a very laid back place and cool if thats what you are looking for. the price is just a bit pricey considering that you have to order your self at he counter and bring your glasses or dishes back to the counter if you are sitting outside. If i would go back, probably yes, just for a cup of something not for food or to spend much time there.

I like coffee, I like stripped back décor and I like coffee. So, on paper I should love this place. Problem is, it was only OK. Don’t get me wrong, the coffee is quite good, served a bit too hot, but tasty. To sit in, it’s quirky and bright but overall something just doesn’t click. To me it comes across as kind of try-hard, worth a look but not a revisit.

I am slightly perplexed with Berlin. It’s almost like Berlin is trying to be a ruin bar, like the ones in Berlin, in the middle of Dublin and it’s not working. The space is a hodge-podge of furniture arranged in no particular order. There are two large bench-style tables connected by a ping pong table, forming a giant U in the middle of the room. Off to one side of the space is a couch which has seen better days and off to another side are short stools with a short bar alongside the windows. My husband and I stopped in at about 7pm on a Friday night for a glass of wine. Our first stumbling block was that we were unable to read the chalkboard menu located in the wee corner of the wall near the ceiling. The chalk had faded and it was dark, so we ended up ordering two glasses of pinot grigio as that was the only bottle of wine sitting on the counter. I was astonished by the price of 7.50 Euro per glass. I don’t know why, this should not have surprised me but I was shocked. We then made our way to one of the few places where we could sit across from one another, the bench table. Squished between the ping pong table and other people sitting at the bench table was uncomfortable and weird. In addition to the awkward seating, there were signs all over the table asking us to bring our dirty dishes to the washing station, yet there was no signage as to where the washing station was. I felt the signage was a bit tacky. The space is small and though there were only two staff working, I don’t think it would be terribly difficult to keep the tables clear of used dishes. The whole experience was just odd from start to finish. A ping pong table does not belong in a wine bar or coffee shop. I didn’t like it. Not one bit.

Dropped in for a coffee and was really impressed. The place is decorated really rustic and has a very trendy feel to it ! I almost felt not cool enough to be there . The coffee is very good ! Really enjoyed it they have papers on the tables with the logo of Berlin stamped on it which I thought was cool . Staff are really nice and chatty and welcoming. Not overly mad on their food menu though nothing grabbed my attention enough to ordered.

I’ve been exactly twice to Berlin, both times more than underwhelmed. The staff wasn’t friendly, the wine is overpriced(7.50Euro for a glass of Merlot), the croissants aren’t fresh(at least the ones I had) and just overall I don’t see why I should come back here when there’s so many nicer and friendlier places around the corner. For the Ping Pong table maybe. But then again, 7.50Euro is a lot to spend on wine that you’re spilling whilst playing Ping Pong.

Meh its ok !! I came here for my coffee break during work. I got a cappuccino which was lovely, and a croissant which was meh ! not that fresh or anything… maybe the sandwiches and stuff are better, I don’t know, so food wise I think I would have to give it another go… other than that, its handy for if its a nice day and you want to sit outside(outdoor seating provided). but the inside isnt comfortable at all. in my opinion the place is hipster and trendy all right — but obviously trying way to hard to be cool and different. its not coming natural to the place. the guy who served me was sound though. don’t think ill be back, but maybe its a different experience at night time for drinks. also only ideal for if your on your own or small groups

I returned to Berlin after an introduction through a Unilocal event. The event was set up for evening with a projected screen for atmosphere and a live d.j. standing in a minute, custom window box. Returning, I experienced Berlin for a late lunch, and there was a selection of pastries on the bar, and soup and paninis on offer. I had the soup, which was a rustic tomato blend with shards of onion decorated with a swirl of basil or pesto oil. The manly-sized bowl was served with two thick slices of bread with butter, which was a welcome relief from the tang of the soup. I ate my lunch at one of the super-solid communal tables constructed out of what appear to be reclaimed boards atop soldered metal bases. This is not a place that is striving for delicacy, but rather for a hip, urban shabby-chic feel. For example, one of the surfaces is set up for table-tennis, complete with paddles.(I don’t think they are used, however; the space is fairly tight.) Owner Dan described how he had been working with another Dublin café, but he felt that he had a different vision for what a contemporary café might be. For him, that means a focus on simplicity, but doing each thing well. Berlin does seem to have that kind of feel to it. As I looked around the seating areas, both inside and outside the café, the two spaces seem to keep a connection thanks to two enormous open windows between them. The people seated represented a range of customers, including friends with a baby(who luckily didn’t seem to mind the fairly loud music), couples, a pair of folks in business attire, and one other customer who, like me, had brought along a novel. While I was there at a table for lunch, the other reader had settled into one of the indoor couches with his glass of wine. Getting ready to leave, I said a farewell to Dan, and decided to use the restroom. Here, I found a little more evidence of Dan’s quirky sensibility. The women’s bathroom was completely painted in chalkboard paint(which I’ve seen in many places), but it also featured two full-sized mirrors, one of which directly faces the toilet. That’s a pretty cheeky, I think. It will be interesting to see how Berlin develops.

Favourite café in Dublin! I love how open it is, never feels stuffy. The coffee is always delicious and the raspberry cheesecake brownie will knock your socks off. Great place to hang out and there are lots of tables outside as well! The staff are so sweet, I wouldn’t change anything about this place. Definitely worth checking out!

Delighted with this find, a staple in my town endeavours. Happy to spend my money here music is your classic relaxed vibe the coffee cups are unusual to say the least but brilliant at that. Buying a little something to go with your latte is a little pricey but worth the purchase as long as it isn’t a regular buy! Definite recommend to friends. Being as its only 4* I must make a suggestion for improvement, I’d love to see an Irish newspaper available as we cant all speak German!

Berlin D2 is a trendy new late-open café. I rented out Berlin D2 for a private party for 80 people a few weeks ago, and Dan the manager couldn’t have been more accomodating. This is a brilliant venue for a chilled out social gathering with a great atmosphere. The lights can be set to different colours depending on your preference, and the DJs provided nice background buzz.(If you haven’t seen the DJ booth in the window go check it out! What an intelligent use of space!) On a normal day Berlin serve coffee, tea and wine ’til late, but they got in some yummy German beers for our private function as well. On top of everything, the staff on the night were super friendly and helpful. I would defintiely recommend this as a party venue for up to 100 people.

Attention Dublin, there is a new cool cat in town and it comes in the form of an über-trendy Berlin bear! At the moment Berlin D2 serves predominantly as a chilled café by day; offering good coffee and big, brown-bagged sambos. Come nightfall, it then rolls on into an even more chilled(if it’s even possible?!) bar; serving a nice selection of wine, German craft beer, and Guinness. Think that’s it though? Ohhh nonono you silly cabbage. The wrath of the Berlin bear has no intention of stopping there –Dan(the owner) is set on providing the people of Dublin with a space that truly caters to all. His plans include live music and DJ nights, outdoor movie screenings backing out onto Coppinger Row, weekend BBQ’s and even morning yoga! After opening only a week ago, Berlin already boasts a considerable crowd of loyal customers who all want in on Dublin’s obvious«Next Big Thing». I recommend you check it out A.SAP. before you get lost in the influx of hipsters that are surely going to come flocking once they get whiff of the delicious vibes that Berlin innocently oozes.
