Aachener International

Not recomended, Very quick to get your business, very competitive prices and very helpful with delivering packing supplies etc. Once they have your gear your problems start. They do not answer emails, they never call back, they fail to deliver by their self imposed deadlmes. It took over a month to get three pallets of gear from Dublin to the UK and on arrival one of the boxes was missing. It went missing from their supposedly secure facility and has not been seen since. There was no appology and to date no insurance form for claiming reimbursement, (there was three thousand euros of insurance cover). Not once has Aachener initiated communication since they were paid by credit card. I have only managed to get responses out of Aachener by contacting their main office directly as their representative who I dealt with never returned calls. This move has been a nightmare and I could not recomend this company as it is currently.
I have reported my loss to the Garda and this transaction to the credit card transaction dispute dept. I find it very suspicious that four excellent reviews turn up two days after the last Aachener Intl bad review. I will update this if Aachener decide to play fair.

Everything sorted out satisfactorly, problems due to people on holiday and miscommunication. Dublin office ironed out issues immediately, politely and professionally, hopefully whatever issues they had have been resolved.

I have to agree with saintleoba on this company. I had a very similar experience with them plus the fact that they didn’t deliver my belongings as agreed. It was all very late and a major hassle for me. You might get lucky with them but if there is the slightest problem with your delivery you will find it very hard to get in contact and find out what’s happening. Horrible experience. Never again!

Update #2: Today Aachener International called me again. They wanted to recognize that our business didn’t go well. They apologized and refunded me fairly for my trouble and extra costs. I want to acknowledge that they went out of their way in the end to set things straight, even if it took long. They assured my again that we were met by unfortunate circumstances and that they usually have happy customers. 14.10.2010
Update #1: I’ve been contacted by Aachener International shortly after I published this review and I am happy that things are moving along. It looks like Aachener International had a rough time getting back to me and that they are sorry about that. My story is obviously only one customer’s story and — judging by my recent communication — I am confident that they generally treat their customers well. I am happy to update this review (including the rating) further should things unfold. 10.09.2010

In June I left Ireland for a long trip and I couldn’t carry all that stuff to my home base in Berlin. So I asked Aachener International to help me with that. All was agreed, they came to pick it up and then… Nightmare, my equipment didn’t arrive as agreed. I needed most of it for my trip but there was no way: «It got held up.»
Aachener International wasn’t overly concerned and only communicated re-​actively with me. I bought extra equipment that I needed and went on my trip anyway. In the end the delivery was over a week late and what really got me mad was that the guys from Aachener just didn’t talk to me. I had to call them every day to inquire about the status so that I could organize someone to eventually receive the delivery instead of me.
You can imagine what happened when I suggested a customer friendly gesture such as a refund for my trouble and extra costs. I was asked to send them an email about that. It was never answered. Instead when I called them again they suggested me to complain about them at the NCA.
If someone would have just contacted me pro-​actively, explained the situation and apologized for my inconvenience, I would have been OK.
