Vikki’s

On the walk up from town to the Cork City Gaol we passed this cool looking place.
I glanced back and chuckled at the humorous sign outside, (New customers required. No previous experience necessary. Apply within.) and we decided to pop in for a sandwich.
And I am so glad we did. This is a little bit of everything rolled into one. Part tea room, part sandwich bar, park general store. And al mishmashed in a variety of styles and décor.
We ordered a couple of sandwiches and sat down near the door to wait. And were charmed. This is the type of place I would love to have near me. Everyone who entered was greeted by name and Vikki knew exactly what they wanted and needed. When an elderly lady didn’t have enough change with her to pay, Vikki simply said «No problems, you can get me next time.» Wow, that this still happens somewhere fills me with joy still!
The sandwiches by the way were great as was the service.

Liturally stumbled onto this place. It serves freshly made sandwiches (6.00 €) which come with home made coleslaw! Very yummy! While you eat you can watch the people pass by or the locals buy their bread and meat. The shop owner knows everyone by name. Apart from having something to eat and tea Vikkys also offers dairy products, lemonades, tea and much more.
