After a day of riding the Paris Metro to avoid the rain. We popped up at Pere Lachaise station to visit Cimetiere Pere Lachaise. Why? Because Jim Morrison is buried there along with Chopin and Oscar Wilde. Just a block or two along Av. de la Republique is the greatest little bistro with covered outside seating — good for rainy days. The waiter was very friendly(so non-French) and helpful(again, so non-Parisienne). He recommended some white wine for us that was very good and cheap. Then he talked me into a 9 Euro pizza that he said was world famous. He was right. Thin crust, fire baked, totally covered with ham and other meats and then a sunnyside egg popped into the very middle of the pizza. Holy cow! Who does that? All I can say, is that it was the second best thing we ate in Paris in a week. So, if you are visiting Jim Morrison(he was the lead singer for The Doors — for those who don’t know), walk from the Metro station in the direction opposite from the cemetary and look for this place along Av de la Republique.
