Fondue factory — best hotpot(or «steamboat») in Paris. Great service, good selection, good location. If you’re unfamiliar with hotpot, it has nothing to do with«fondue» other than the notion that you stick something in something else and eat it that way. There’s a hot boiling broth of your choosing, along with raw veg and proteins of your choosing. Cook to the temperature of your choice, eat with rice and noodles if you wish, and wash down with a beverage of your choice. No cook to blame but yourself :-)

This place is really expensive for the hot pot served. I went there with my friend on a sunday night, the restaurant was almost empty whsile the other asian restaurants were almost full. We took a beef hot pot, and a seafood one. Beef is 16 € 80 for 10 tiny slices of beef and some vegies. Seafood is 18 € 80 for some prown, crab and vegies. There are plenty of hot pot place around there in Paris, all you can eat, and way more tasty. I dont recommande that place.

Bön appétit a tous ;)

The waitress was extremely helpful withe recommendations as this fondue was not your typical cheese/chocolate experience. The authenticity was awesome and the food was excellent. This is an experience worth the try and one we have not experienced in the states.

Fondue Factory serves what is best known as hot pot. But instead of one giant pot to share, everyone gets their own smaller pot. I came here with a group for dinner and everyone loved the idea because you can get whatever suits your tastes– spicy, sweet, vegetarian, etc. For under 16 €, you choose: — what will be cooked: beef, lamb, tofu & mushrooms, or seafood(+2 €) — a broth: spicy Sichuan, a soy sauce broth, beef broth, more — a dipping sauce: spicy plum, sesame, spicy sesame, soy sauce, etc. A bowl of veggies and rice nodles to share is included as well. There is also a list of things you can order in addition, like ramen or crab. An essential part of hot pot is having meat that is cut very thinly, and here it comes in neat little rolls. I got the beef in the beef broth. I should have gone with a different broth for more variety, but the spicy plum sauce added great flavor: sweet with a kick. Everyone who chose it loved it. For fans of spicy food– and I mean REAL spicy food– get the Sichuan broth. Two of my friends said it was good and very strong. It’s a great looking location with pleasant staff. Reservations are accepted, which helped because it was packed at dinnertime!

I’ve never been or heard of anything like this before. It is just lovely as can be. The front has large windows with vertical glass panels. It really stands out from the other shops on Rue Saint Denis. As you walk in, the whole left wall is a chalk board, with elegant scribbles both French and English of everything on the menu. The back wall is covered with a large industrial photograph, which give the ceiling pipes and beautiful metal chair a bit of a context. Upstairs is also a large seating area, with one large table that seats 8, and several smaller tables. On the menu for dinner is Asian Fondu. On the evening menu, you choose between beef, lamb, seafood or veggies for your fondu. Each fondue [set] meal is 15,80 euros, and served with a bowl of veggies to dip in as well. However, this fondu may not be what you have in mind. it’s even better. Each person is given a little contraption that heats the bowl of broth(of your choosing), where you cook the meat of your choice and your veggies(cabbage, sweet potato & other greens) as well as rice noodles. Before gobbling it all up, you can dip it all in a delicious sauce(I went with the«Japanese» sauce) of your choosing. All of this while sipping a Tsingtao beer. Perfection. Cozy with an industrial touch. They eveni gave us aprons to keep our clothes clean(super cute classy ones, with their logo on the front) AND made sure that all of the girls had their hair attached to avoid getting it anywhere near the fire that was right in front of us. Really, how cute is that? It’s a sit down meal, and isn’t quick to take in(at least for someone like me who is horrible with chopsticks). But boy was it delicious, and filling! Dessert was where my heart skipped a beat. The gal that opened the joint, Ma Xin, makes all of the desserts, and she had us try a green-tea tofu with little berries. It was sublime. I am already dreaming of their match tiramisu. Their bathroom was super logical and cute as well, with one of those fancy hand dryers which I always like. And lastly, they had a rotary telephone. How cute is that?
