Where do I start? Staff was so welcoming ! They helped us pick out their best dishes and spoke to us more about the menu. We ordered the veal and the duck breast and WOW. So tender and rich in flavor ! By far the best restaurant I have visited in a while ’

Very nice Brasserie with a Basque twist. You get a simple menu, a friendly welcome, a nice décor, and very fair prices on top of that. it is always lively, colourful and this place leaves you with a smile on your face and on your bely. The plates ARE HUGE for a french restaurant, especially Parisian, and look like southern style meal (touch bigger than in Paris). In France the equivalent of comfort food is the to me: the basque country cuisine. Large plates and plenty to dig in. Here it is an avalanche of food for Paris. Salads are covered with stuff, meats are served in nice portions, etc. When there I take the Salade Cing Diamants, with Gesiers, Magrets, Goat cheese, and cheese bites, there is a lot to dig. You can t walk easily after such a meal. They also have wines and beers of the month, always nice to pair those with your meal. I have tried several locations and this one and the one at the Butte Aux Cailles are both my favorite. To Try!

What a solid meal. I love everything Paris has to offer, I just wish I had more of it without going broke. At Chez Gladines, you can have it all without breaking the bank. Me and my fiancé came in late-​ish and almost ordered the whole menu when our server advised to pump the brakes. We ended up with the veal and the duck with roquefort sauce. My fiancé ate all of his dish in one go. Mine took a little longer and I still didn’t finish, so not getting the potatoes was a good call, after all.
We would definitely go back!

This place is out of the world! Fabulous food, tasty, huge portions, cosy, great service and a sort of small village feeling despite the pinups. Planned one lunch there and we ended up going there again just before flying out! Eating in the same place twice in a 3 days stay in Paris should say it all! I know where I’m going to stop next time as soon as I land in Paris ;)

Delicious food for a fair price. I ordered the House Cassoulet and it was fantastic. Chicken, Sausage, and White beans with a hearty, smokey flavor. Probably the best meal I had in my week-​long stay in Paris, and one I’ll be thinking about for weeks.
Other reviews complained about the service (waiting time and attitude) but I found the service to be basically the normal downtown Parisian-​standard. Yes it took 15 minutes to take the order, but the place was packed full, and the food arrived in under 10 minutes. Overall it was worth the wait, especially considering that the price was very fair for the St. Germain area. Mains were about 15 – 20 EUR.

Les plats sont peu chers et copieux, mais ça né vaut pas le coup.
Pas de réservations donc attente, accueil un peu rude, les tables sont minuscules et inconfortables. C’est extrêmement bruyant, impossible d’avoir une conversation normale. Il a fallut attendre tout le repas pour avoir une carafe d’eau, par contre les boissons payantes arrivent immédiatement. Seulement 3 patates tièdes et 1 demi tomate dans la salade, c’est pas terrible… Au contraire, le pain et la charcuterie sont délicieux. Nous avons demandé la carte pour choisir les desserts mais le serveur a refusé, donc nous n’avons pas pu voir les prix, grosse surprise au moment de l’addition ! Le mi-​cuit industriel coûte à peine moins cher qu’un plat ! En plus nous l’avions attendu 30 minutes… La glacé à la coco servit avec est très bonne.
Je né retournerais pas dans cette chaine, je préfère leur concurrent, un peu plus cher mais tellement meilleur !

Good food but not-​too-​good service.
I went to have dinner last night. We were 2 couples.
The service was not too good. As usual in Paris, you can not choose the table you like.
We wanted to order two plates to share (as they are abundant) and a bottle of wine, but we were forced to order two more dishes (at least starters) as we were 4.
There were only two waiters for the whole place that was totally full and they were totally rushed all the time (even when they were very kind).
The food was very tasty, but took long to arrive.

There’s one specific dish that I wanted to try while in Paris — cassoulet. Unilocal led me here to Chez Gladines, and as my fiancé and I walked up we knew it was a good place because it was super busy and there was a large group waiting outside to get in. Protip: even if you see a group outside, go in and put your name on the list. Since there were only two of us we got seated before the large group we saw.
Inside was pretty snug, as most Parisian places are, but overall it’s a really nice casual place. My fiancé got the foie gras omelette, which was predictably super rich. My cassoulet arrived and it was quite a beauty. A large soupy dish filled with white beans, sausage, a chicken leg and a strip of salty savory pork belly. Between that and the bottle of red wine, I was dreading the long walk back home, but it was definitely worth it.
As with most places in Paris the service is spotty, and the wait can be pretty long (both to get in and for the food), but we were both super satisfied with our meal and sometimes you can strike up a conversation with your table-​mates like we did. If you’re cassoulet hunting in Paris, I definitely recommend here.

We were here on a Saturday night and it was really crowded, but they were efficient moving people in and out. The waiters were not annoyed at my terrible French and spoke English well (I tried some French but they spoke English to me which was very much appreciated:))
We sat outside and enjoyed the street side atmosphere. The restaurant has a energetic vibe that almost borders being gritty at times but still had a sophisticated yet fun feel. When busy walk up and leave your name and then stand along side the curb until its your turn.
We had fromage (cheese) and bordeaux wine with bread as an appetizer. For the meal we had omelette Cepes, patate jamon pays (thin sliced ham and potatos) and poulet badquaise which was the best. Its a chicken and rice dish in a cast iron bowl and was amazing. Everything else was good but this was great.
Definitely worth a try.

We ate here our first night in Paris on the recommendation of our hotel.
We split 2 meals — the Duck Breast and the Veal. Oh my gosh — they were both amazing. And both really different from each other.
The duck breast was roasted/​grilled and sliced, served with a lettuce salad and roasted thin potato slices with herbs.
The Veal was a large slice served under prosciutto and cheese in an amazing mushroom gravy. Along side it were thin slices baked potato slices.
The Duck Breast meal was the lighter meal while the Veal was very heavy.
We saw many meal-​sized salads come out and we may try those later this week.

Délicieux, MAIS: Pas de réservation possible, déjà ça c’est nul car s’il y a une chose que je déteste c’est de me déplacer pour rien! Deuxièmement tant que il y a une personne qui manqué, on n’a pas le droit de s’installer et on doit attendre DEHORS (même si le restaurant est vide) …ici J’arrive ! Ou point ou j’enlève déjà une étoile du résultat.
Bön mais il faut dire que c’est vraiment très très bon! Je conseille les chipirones! Calamars a la sauce tomate piment.

Stopped in tonight based on Unilocal reviews (after a long walk down the Champs Elysees past the Louvre and to Notre Dame). We have been in Paris for a few days now and have eaten at some great restaurants (most also based on Unilocal). So far this place is the winner. We weren’t sure what to expect and, as a family of 5 from the US with 3 teenage daughters, I’m being somewhat cautious in my choices of where to eat (basically easing them in to anything really outlandish).
The Basque food here was definitely new to us all (even the Basque beer). But, after reading some other reviews we dove in to Basque Chicken, Duck Breast, and the Herb Steak. The portions were huge compared to other Paris establishments and the flavors were excellent. My wife is still talking about the Basque Chicken. We stuck around for dessert and all left very impressed with everything. The wait staff was also very attentive which was great.
This is not your typical Parisian décor but is still very hip. It’s about a block south of Notre Dame/​Ill de la Cite and very easy to find right on Blvd St. Germain.

Bön rapport qualité-​prix! pretty much sums up Gladines in one phrase. Hearty, filling Basque food with American-​sized portions in a casual environment, service almost nonexistent.
Pavé de canard sauce Roquefort (15.80 €), a big slab of duck breast, nicely cooked à point with a beautiful sear on the scored skin side. The duck itself wasn’t the highest quality, was a bit lacking in the gamey flavor you associate with duck. Definitely more about the quantity than quality here, the Roquefort sauce was satisfying if a bit too salty and oily. Potatoes were fantastic, crispy on the outside and well-​seasoned.
Poulet Basquaise (12.50 €) is their signature dish, chicken thighs cooked in a tasty tomato/​pepper sauce. It came in a huge portion, flaming hot, tasty and hearty, most definitely French comfort food.
The food is good, but the focus is definitely on quantity over quality and refinement — though this is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe this is the case with Basque food in general, but most of the flavor in Gladines’ dishes comes from salt, butter, oil, or some mixture of the three. Lines get long if you come at popular lunch/​dinner hours.

Chez Gladines is my go-​to place for French (Basque) comfort food in the neighborhood. It seems to be everyone else’s now too. There is always a long line that winds around the block – increasingly filled with tourists and expats – and they don’t take reservations so arrive early or late for the best chance of getting a table (either inside or on the coveted terrace).
Their «salads» are scrumptious and filling, mostly composed of potatoes, cheese, gizzards, eggs, etc. I’ve tried the chicken with rice and chipirons, both of which arrive piping hot and smothered in a red pepper sauce. I’ve tested the duck and the potato bowls and the omelettes. I’ve frequented this place just for a bottle of wine and the snails three ways.
My favorite winter dish is by far the escalope montagnarde, veal slathered in cream and cheese sauce with mushrooms and potatoes, served in a cast-​iron skillet. It’s nearly impossible to finish, and you’ll want to sleep it off immediately after, but it is so worth it.
In the summertime, I like to order a pitcher of Cahors or Irouléguy and take my time with the mixte cheese and charcuterie platter, garnished with the requisite cornichons and butter, but also delicious dark cherry jam and tangy peppers. It’s a meal in itself, even when shared by two.

What a true gem of Paris, showcasing the extraordinary art of a great steak. The meat is tender and cooked to perfection and the potatoes that come on the side are a perfect compliment. My friend ordered the salad bowl and in her words it was, «the best salad I’ve ever had.»
Could be the magic of being abroad and in the mesmerizing city of love, but having a taste myself the dressing was quite good.
The environment brags a very local and raw form of a restaurant. There is always a line out of the door, so I suggest getting there earlier than you plan to eat. Also if you’re like me and speak very little French, make sure you’re proactive in letting someone know that you are there and waiting. There isn’t really a booth with a hostess or anything.
All in all, a very great restaurant in Paris! I’ve heard the duck entrée and the escargot is very good as well. So if you’re in the area, definitely check this place out. It’ll be worth your while.

I had the veal, massive portion and again rich and creamy. Friend had the duck breast and quite enjoyed. Four of us shared the salad cinq diamonds — plenty to share.

J’y suis allé avec un groupe d’amis, un était en retard, on nous a fait patienter dehors jusqu’à ce qu’il arrive, ils n’acceptent que des groupes au complet, et l’accueil est loin d’être chaleureux. Bön…
Passé ce désagrément, la déco est sympa à l’intérieur même si pour un restau basque on a du mal à établir des liens, mais passons. La salle est bruyante, les serveurs surchargés et à nouveau peu aimables. Les plats sont plutôt bons et comme c’est relevé dans les articles précédents: bien fournis et peu chers ! Il semblerait d’ailleurs que ce soit un des motifs pour y venir…
Ça n’est pas de la grande gastronomie basque, et le choix de plats est d’ailleurs limité, mais le resto est dans l’ensemble sympathique. Voilà, avis mitigé en somme, qui demande sans doute à évoluer !

This place is crowded with locals! It was good! I had the duck breast and oh my, they were juicy and yummy! I got medium and it looked to be on the medium rare side, but I’m okay with that. I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. I wished the duck breast came with a sauce though. I would go back for a second round of duck breast if I could. The ocean’s keeping us apart :(
It’s quite a casual, crowded atmosphere here so try to beat the rush if you can. The tables are tiny for tables for two. Pay at the register! (or at least they told us to)

On a choisi la salade 5 diamants (bien sur !), cassoulet de maison, canard magret, steak et omlette mais que pour 70 euros !!!
Malgré un point un peu triste que l’espace entre des micro-​tables n’est pas suffisante, son repas copieux (5 personnes très bourré) et service correct portent quand même un bon rapport prix-​qualité~ Par contre si vous voulez vous écarter pour éviter trop de touristes, allez-​y voir~~

This place is excellent! Great food in huge portions, and relatively cheap.
It is a popular spot, so you might have to wait for a table, but the turnover is high so you probably won’t wait forever.
We had poulet basque and casserole du jour, both courses were delicious.
The staff was friendly, even though they worked under some serious preassure. This is a restaurant for relaxed foodloving (gourmand) people. (If you’re the kind of person that prefers white table cloths and white collar staff this is NOT the place for you)

1) J’ai rarement vu un barman aussi impoli. Il pense peut-​être que parce qu’il y a du monde dans le restaurant c’est qu’il fait du bon travail. Sauf qu’avant lui des gens ont travaillé pour rendre ce lieu populaire. Si j’étais le patron, je virerai ce mec une bonne fois pour toute.

«Selon vous, vos clients reviennent-​ils pour l’ambiance ou vos plats ?
— Nos plats» me répond un peu hésitant ce jeune serveur a l accent du sud.
La question né paie pas de mine, mais lorsque vous attendez debout pendant environ 30 minutes qu’une table se libère, vous misez le sort de votre soirée sur le choix de ce restaurant.
L’ambiance? Bondée de touristes et d’ados français qui piaillent dans un brouhaha de basse cour. Voilà resumé l’ambiance bonne enfant.
Les plats? L assiette de charcuterie a séduit mes invités (nous étions 4), j ai personnellement apprécié qu ils aient de l Orezza en cave. Les plats m’ont donné une impression de «trop» gras, ma salade baignait dans sa vinaigrette, mon couteau à viande né coupait pas…
Au final, il y a de bons points et de mauvais points dans cette balance.
Je pense qu il faut manger chez GLADINES au moins 1 FOIS à Paris.
Mais il n est pas nécessaire d y revenir !

Chez Gladines, on propose des spécialités basques.
Dans ce bistrot à la déco rétro, l’ambiance est décontractée et les assiettes sont copieuses.
On apprécie également le service non stop de 12 à 23h.
Par contre mieux vaux y aller en hiver, la cuisine n’étant pas mauvaise mais trop lourde et trop riche surtout pour un mois d’août. Même les chipirons baignent dans l’huile, sans parler des escalopes recouvertes de fromage, crème et bacon!
Heureusement que je né vais pas à la mer cet été! ;)

J’aime la cuisine et les salades énormes.
La seul chose qui manqué est le service au client (essayer d’éviter l’homme avec les lunettes qui travaille là comme serveur). Attention aussi aux heures de point – il y a souvent un temps d’attentant prolongés (+45 minutes) les vendredis et samedis soirs.

On m’avais donné de bons avis sur ce restaurant: «Des supers salades super pas cher !!»
J’ai donc conseillé à une copine de passage sur Paris de réunir ses amis dans ce restaurant.
Nous avons donc pris une table pour une dizaine de personnes vers 19h, de manière à etre sures de caser tout le monde.
Le restaurant a insisté pour prendre nos commandes avant que tout le monde arrive. Les deux derniers arrivants ont commandé une demi heure après nous.
Resultat: les deux derniers ont été suivi dans la demi heure qui suit, et les 8 autres personnes ont attendus 20h45 pour voir arriver leur salade !! Nous avons donc regardé manger deux personnes, et une fois qu’ils ont terminés leur plat, ils nous ont regardé manger à leur tour … :s
Coté gastronomie: TOUTES les salades sont grasses (pas d’option sans charcuteries, ni fromage) et les produits né sont pas d’une qualité extra. Lorsque l’on demande la sauce à part, on nous amene une salade sans sauce dans nous donné l’assaisonnement à coté. Il faut se lever de table pour réclamer du pain, de l’eau ou plus d’assaisonnements.
Coté Déco: Ok c’est assez sympa, mais pas exceptionnel à Paris, des bistrots comme ça y’en a partout !

De nombreuses spécialités type les chipirons, la piperade au jambon braisé (euh les pommes de terre c’était un peu too much), le poulet ou l’omelette basquaise… sont mises à l’honneur
L’établissement propose aussi des plats plus classiques ou de grandes salades copieuses au prix super compétitif
Une bonne cantine basque testée et approuvée.

Le succès est au rendez-​vous dans cette nouvelle adresse de Chez Gladines. Le concept s’est bien exporté, même si je préfère toujours l’adresse originale du 13e.
Le restaurant fait salle comble pour le dîner. La carte est fidèle, un peu plus chère que dans la Butte-​aux-​Cailles. Mais étonnamment la carte est plus longue, plus de plats sont proposés ici.
J’ai été tenté par les piments piquillos, très bons mais faible en quantité. Cela m’a permis pour une fois de tester les desserts! Et le gâteau basque né m’a pas déçu, très corrects.

Port Royal/Gobelins, Paris
Il est rare que je n’arrive pas à finir un plat dans un restaurant. Ce fut pourtant le cas de ma salade Cinq Diamants, un classique de la maison, ce soir fatidique du 12 septembre 2013. Non que la salade né fut pas bonne, loin de là, mais la quantité était telle que mon pauvre petit estomac maltraité (et déjà rempli de la veille, soyons honnêtes) n’a pu accepter la totalité de son contenu.
En dehors de cet impair impardonnable de ma part, Gladines Saint-​germain, c’est comme Gladines Butte-​aux-​Cailles, le bonus «va-boire-ta-pinte-a-la-terrasse-d’en-face-le-temps-qu’une-table-se-libère» en moins. Cuisine efficace, roborative, tarifs tout à fait corrects, foule des grands jours, service sympathique mais un peu à l’arrache. Bah ouais, deux personnes pour gérer une salle de 60 – 70 couverts c’est compliqué… Pour l’anectode nos voisins se sont retrouvés avec nos desserts sans en avoir commandé. Heureusement c’était pour la maison, et puis ça a donné (enfin!) une image conviviale et accueillante des restos parisiens aux touristes étrangers!
Un bon rapport qualité prix avec un esprit convivial et détente… Arrivez tôt pour manger le soir, par contre!

Des plats GAR.GAN.TU.ESQUES ! et pas chers !
Alors Gladines, c’est bien pour :
— sa cuisine sans chichis,
— ses plats copieux, généreux,
— le prix plus qu’honnête (comptez 10 euros pour une salade que vous aurez du mal à finir),
— pouvoir modifier ou échanger certains ingrédients de son plat,
— les serveurs super sympas.
Mais Gladines, c’est moins bien pour :
— le bruit, c’est l’usine là-​dedans !
— la place, c’est pas que c’est petit mais l’espace est optimisé pour faire rentrer le max de personnes,
— la déco cantine,
— le service débordé, bah oui on optimise tout même le nombre de serveurs, et on a du attendre pas mal de temps pour le dessert, car ils ont servi notre dessert à nos voisins qui né se sont pas gênés pour les manger croyant que c’était offert par la maison.
En bref, Gladines t’y va quand tu veux bien manger sans trouer ton portefeuille, et c’est top, mais faut s’accommoder du bruit, de manger sur la table de son voisin ou du service souriant mais un peu débordé.

Chez Gladines, c’est l’adresse que je recommande systématiquement lorsque des amis cherchent un bon resto pour passer la soirée. D’ailleurs, fun fact, j’en ai tellement parlé autour de moi, qu’il m’arrive souvent d’y croiser des copains, qui font à leur tour découvrir cette adresse à leur famille et amis.
La recette de leur succès est simple: un super accueil, une carte généreuse qui sent bon le sud ouest à des prix imbattables pour le quartier, et une ambiance au top !
Mention spéciale effectivement pour leur entrecôte pour deux personnes. On a râlé parce qu’on avait attendu environ 20 min ce soir là (en même temps, comme à chaque fois, c’était absolument bondé). On a vite retrouvé des couleurs lorsque l’assiette est arrivée: la cuisson était parfaite, et la viande savoureuse !
C’est ouvert en journée continue, et donc si possible, il vaut mieux s’y rendre autour de 19h30 pour être bien assis.

Gladines St-​Germain: une migration depuis la butte aux cailles où s’est batie une légende autour du lieu, je né l’ai jamais vu un soir sans une horde d’étudiants en attente devant sirotant des verres de vin dans l’attente de leur ration.
Ambiance bistrot assurée. Plein en permanence. Mais il reste toujours un petit coin pour y manger une salade géante et roborative ou encore un «petit» confit de canard ou une omelette. Le vin est bon et abordable.
Mention spéciale à la côte de boeuf pour deux personnes, très bien cuite, et vraiment géante.
Mon seul problème avec Gladines est qu’il se trouve bien trop près de mon travail, et le régime basque commence à faire sentir ses effets… Pour les amateurs de bonne chère, pas cher, dans une ambiance relax et bon enfant.
Astuce: on peut avoir une option gésiers sur les salades pour seulement 1 €, ca vaut le coup (de fourchette).
