Came here on our last night in Nice, and eating here was likely the food highlight of the whole trip. We mainly chose it since it was so close to our hotel, as we had someone in our group who had suffered an injury(needed to go to the ER) earlier in the day. We arrived at 7:45, with 11 diners in tow(didn’t call ahead for a reservation, bad on us). They welcomed us with open arms, and fabulous food. If we’d found this earlier in the trip, we’d have likely come here multiple times(but called ahead in the future).

The food is very good. The Seabass and scallops were prepared well although I don’t think it was Seabass perhaps bream. The pasta dishes were a bit over spiced. Service is attentive.

This place has a good reputation. I arrived around 8:15pm on a Tuesday with no reservation. I was given a choice of sitting with some elderly English people or at a single table next to the kitchen. I went there for the fish soup on the menu, a Nice specialty, to be told it was already run out and they only had vegetable soup left. I should have left and gone elsewhere. I chose instead a prawn cocktail entrée which was mostly tiny pink prawns drowned in thousand island sauce with two stale large prawns with black veins and grit intact served on top. The magret de canard for main came out as hard as shoe leather in a bitter orange sauce made from brown gravy with orange zest added. Bitter endive and butter sauteed carrots were on the side. A main course serving of buttered pasta seemed out of place on the plate next to the magret. A tour group of 24 Chinese people with their guide acting as cheerleader asking for«hands up» for what people wanted from a prearranged menu was a surreal addition. The evening was retrieved by seeing the young French lady with blonde ponytail treating her friend to pizza for her birthday. These girls were smart and sat outside despite the October weather(or maybe they just wanted to smoke). The wine is expensive and limited in choice. The servers are excellent.

Recommended by the staff at the Westminster Hotel, Barracuda is just in the heart of the commercial tourist district. Given all of the good meals we’ve had in France, this place is hardly able to hold a candle to them. If you are able to get a table outside on the street, that would make all the difference since the interior seating was very warm and congested. The food is not really French but rather a hodgepodge of Italian, Spanish as well as local French. Good for the ambiance more than the food.

Great food, friendly wait staff. I’m always worried my horrible understanding of French will annoy our waiters. But here they understand English and bring you fantastic food.

We went here for dinner around 9pm on a Wednesday. Service staff was friendly, there was not a single waiter assigned o our table, several waiters came to service us during our dinner. I had the paella and it was delicious with multiple pieces of chorizo, chicken and seafood. It was big enough for two people but we were not aware and ordered a second entrée. The pasta with smoked salmon was our second entrée and it was pretty good as well but I preferred the paella. Overall a good experience, good food at a reasonable price for quality, portion size and location.

Exellent !!
