Brilliant restaurant in a tiny village in the hills, about 90 minutes outside Toulouse. Gascogne country cuisine cooked over an open wood fire(fun to watch) that’s so tasty and authentic that people drive from the nearby town of Auch for it. I’ve eaten here four times now. I thought it so good that I arranged an evening meal all 35 wedding guests here the night before I was married at nearby Château de Lartigolle( ). Everyone reported that they loved the meal here. There are usually some simple tables outside looking at the village churchyard. Although it’s right on the road there’s very little traffic, so it’s a nice spot to sit outside. Inside is rustic, with lots of stone and wood and folk art here and there on the walls. The chef cooks over open flames in a large wood-fired stone oven that can be seen from almost all the inside tables. Whether you’re getting grilled fish, lamb, or beef, it’s all delicious. The vegetables are usually grilled too. The wine list is excellent. Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations. If you want an evening meal on the weekend it’s wise to ring for a reservation.
