Le Marché Forville

Market for fruits and vegetables, as well as meats! It’s great, and everything is super fresh. It’s pretty close to Rue Meynadier at the end, so definitely come check it out if you’re around the area. There are also a lot of shops around the market to eat at if you want to do so. Yay for markets!

Wonderful open air market in Cannes! Loved the wonderful produce and local products available like potato gnocci and lavender honey. My favorite treats from the marche were the strawberries and the charentais melons — heavenly! Very friendly vendors and nice to tourists fumbling to parle Francais :-)

マルシェの方が値段も安く、品がいいのかというとそうとも限らないのでよく見て買いましょう。
でも確かにスーパーでは手に入らない季節の野菜が手に入ります。
このマルシェの周りにはパン屋、肉屋、魚屋、ワイン蔵、冷凍食品専門店、もしくはミニスーパーマーケットまでなんでもあるので半日ぶらぶらできます。
いろんなカラーの野菜が素敵なので観光客がカメラ片手に夢中になっているのもわからないでもない。
ちょっと外から見えるシュケの時計台のふもとにあるのでカンヌに来たら見逃せない名写真スポットとも言えるでしょう。

Satt sollte man sein, wenn man hier einkauft…
Hier schlägt das Herz des Markt-​Liebhabers ein paar Takte schneller. Früchte, Gemüse, Öl, Antipasti, Eier, Käse, Fleisch & Wurst, Fisch und Meeresgetier satt… Und die Händler überschlagen sich geradezu mit ihrem verkäuferischen Charme.
Ein erster Gang durch die Reihen hilft, sich einen Überblick zu verschaffen, denn hier ist es teuer. Ich musste schlucken, als ich manche Preise sah. Avocados für 2,20 € das Stück finde ich heftig. Beim Lieblingstürken in der Wilmersdorfer komme ich günstiger…
Hin und wieder wird gemogelt: mit Eiswasser gespülter Salat und Kräuter sehen länger knackig aus ;)
Alles in allem lohnt ein Besuch, und wenns nur zum gucken ist. Die anderen Märkte rundum sind nicht günstiger, demzufolge kauften wir hier unser Abendbrot.

I happened to take a daytrip to Cannes on Saturday and came across Le Marche Forville. Wonderful. I love open air markets!
There was an abundance of fresh produce and my greedy eyes spied the fruits and vegetables that I sorely missed being away from California.
I ended up getting some fresh fruit and some Libanese cucumbers — both healthy and tasty!
I noticed they also had prepared food vendors — example: station selling paella or dishing up portions of main-​type of foods.
There were also lovely floral bouquet vendors. I wanted to buy it all — they looked so beautiful and summery.
If you’re in Cannes and you want an alternative to the glitz and glamour spots, here’s a real place where both locals and tourists shop. Good food and fresh food are always worth your time in my view. Next time I’m in Cannes, I’ll be back here again.

Des fruits et légumes, des confitures, du fromage, des œufs, du poisson et… Des fleurs … C’est un melting pot de marchés que nous offre le Marché Forville. Plus besoin d’attendre le jeudi ou je né sais quel jour pour offrir des fleurs !
Les 3 allées sont tout de même composées principalement de marchands de légumes, et le choix est là. Pour peser le pour et le contre, rien de tel qu’une petite dégustation par-​ci par-​là, et bien sûr, la comparaison des prix.
La concurrence est rude: tous sont assez proches les uns aux autres.
Surtout qu’on préfère parfois acheter au plus près du bord pour pouvoir s’extirper de là plus facilement ! C’est en effet très très étroit et au moment du rush, ça bouchonne !
Etant de passage sur Cannes, je n’ai pas vu d’autre marché. Donc il me semble bien que c’est le seul…

Precioso mercado cubierto en Cannes, dicen que de lo mejorcito que se puede ver por ahí, y es decir mucho, porque mercados hay, por todas partes y bastante espectaculares y bien surtidos.
Este está especializado en frutas y verduras, aunque también hay puestos de quesos y embutidos, carnes, miel, flores y, por supuesto, pescado. No hay que olvidar que estamos en la costa, y los peces y mariscos que ahí se venden son los que capturan los pescadores locales, que, parece, haberlos haylos en la ciudad del cine y el glamour.
El sitio se pone de bote en bote cada día, eso que los precios son bastante altos, incluso para los locales. Pero merece la pena el paseo, y si no cargar con toda la compra, darse algún caprichillo vegetal y admirar el arte de los franceses para vender un ramo de perejil y unos tomates como si fueran joyas.
Cada día lo ponen y lo quitan. Es increíble lo limpio que queda el recinto y cómo, igual que el sol sale y se pone a diario, todo vuelve a empezar a primeras horas de la mañana y desaparece pasado el medio día…

Un beau marché
Beau marché de produits régionaux, un peu cher, mais en cherchant bien on trouve de beaux produits. L’emplacement sous les halles, à deux pas de la rue Meynadier et de la rue d’Antibes est facile d’accès, en plus le parking Forville est à côté et la première heure est gratuite…

whenever ANY town has a farmer’s market (especially if its a daily occurrence), i must visit it. cannes france was no exception.
this market shuts pretty early in the day (come before 1400 or 2pm). but in the morning, expect to find numerous vendors + their similar produce: whether that be fruit, veggies, nuts or flowers. it’s a great place to visit when in town for the freshest of fruit + veggies to accompany any picnic or day pack. i was able to try strawberries from some of the vendors who offered a free sample. i eventually bought a basket of them (some of the freshest i’ve ever had) + near devoured all of them before my husband returned from running an errand. the flowers are exceptionally gorgeous + the sellers are not shy to offer assistance even if my french communication skills were lacking + their english was limited.
from the looks of things, most people peddle their bikes or walk to this market + avoid driving in general since parking around the area is quite limited. we were here at 0830 or 8:30am + no parking spots to be found (we had walked in from the harbor).

This is a must visit feature of Cannes. This is a good representation of how important food is in the french culture

Beau choix de légumes et de fruits du pays ambiance provençale

I have mixed feelings for this place… having been here to shop for groceries every morning for about a week. But before I get into that, here are some need-​to-​knows:
1. This food market becomes an antique market on Mondays.
2. The best day to go is Sunday because all of the stalls are available and open. The rest of the days still have booths but not as much.
3. Wake up early. The market is open from like 6am to 12:30pm but all the good stuff is gone by 10am. If you want to have some good oysters or clams, try your luck at 7am.
4. if you’re not used to shopping in fresh markets, you might not know that you should be selective on the goods. Check for bruises and look at the different booths. Some places have better basil bunches than others, some places have sweeter oranges.
Things best to get there:
1. seafood
2. vegetable, fruits and herbs
3. fresh eggs
4. flowers
Things you might find not in stores
1. cheese
2. pâté and different types of cured goods
Is it cheap there? Depends on what you get.
Nothing is cheap in Cannes and if you buy things like cheese, you might end up walking out with 20 – 30 euros a days.
There’s a garage there if you want to pay for parking.

«Le Marché Forville» est le grand marché couvert de Cannes qui se situe Place du Marché Forville au coeur de la ville à quelques mètres du port.
C’est à mon avis l’un des plus beaux et riches marchés de la Région qui a gardé toute son authenticité.
Trois grandes allées, dont deux consacrés aux Primeurs, l’une se terminant par le Marché aux Poissons, l’autre par des Spécialités Locales. L’allée centrale est réservée aux Petits Producteurs de la Région, et se termine par un Marché aux Fleurs.
C’est bien simple, on a envie de tout acheter, de tout goûter, mais moi, j’ai un faible pour les Producteurs du Coin. Les Fleurs, notamment les roses, sont à des prix imbattables !
Le Lundi, c’est Brocante, de 8h à 18h.
