Le Hangar Skate Park – Darwin Project

**Yelp should add a section for skate, bmx, roller, scooter… there are two skate parks in Bordeaux!
This is part of the Darwin Project in Bordeaux, a project sponsored by the Mayor’s office of Bordeaux to revamp a section of old Hangars and decrepit buildings and make them into a center for ecologically related businesses along with space for different activities.
It’s only in French, but the photos tell a lot if you can’t understand the written word.
The Skate Park is currently part of the project– it’s up and running, we’ve gone over several times to skate. This place is legit. It’s inside, which rocks. Rain? No problem, go skate inside the Hangar at Darwin. There are jumps/​ramps/​rails for all skill levels, and a small bowl, a large bowl, and a snack bar. Street parking is free. I’m not sure what will become of the skate park once the buildings surrounding it are razed and rebuilt, but I hope they find a way to keep it there, it’s a great place for kids and adults to burn off some steam when the city is cold and rainy. Great place to take pictures too lots of graffiti.
If you spend a vacation in Bordeaux or relocate here, it’s a good spot to do some skating in France!
