Lunch called Teriyaki Chicken was actually tasteless chicken slices with a little spoonfull of teriayki sauce and dry rice with sweet corn. Sweet potato soup was smooth but lacked taste as well. One of our group asked the waiter if there was something in the teriayki chicken that she could not eat. She couldn’t eat soy so the waiter said she should have just the soup for the same price we had both. Why didn’t he suggest that she could’ve had chicken without the little sauce? I’m sure there wasn’t any soy in the chicken and rice. That’s bad service.

I enjoyed a wonderful 4-course dinner presenting what Aito has to offer. Tasteful local and sustainable food with a nice creative touch.

I had lunch at this restaurant last December, 2012 and was very impressed. We’re back in Helsinki for a few weeks and, of course we wanted to dine in Aito again. We did and it was just as good as our first visit. On our first visit we were taken by a Finn, but today we didn’t have that advantage. We are English speaking visitors staying in university housing for a few weeks. They spoke English and were very helpful. We had a three course lunch. The starter was a fish and vegetable broth(onion, celery and chives), topped with a small piece of perch fried so that the skin was crisp. Very nice. My main course was lamb meatballs with potatoes, asparagus and a tasty sauce. Dessert was rhubarb soup with a licorice flavored dollop of something like a pudding in the middle of it. I preferred the rhubarb soup, but together they were good. The ambience of the restaurant is quite nice and the wait staff is professional. There is also a «homestyle» lunch service. A soup and salad are served buffet style and the waiters bring the main course. I believe this menu is less expensive. Another reviewer has listed the price for this. For us, the lunch was expensive at 61 euros for two. However, I enjoy the experience of having food that is thoughtfully prepared, fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.
