A beautiful place with an amazing view! The place is located right by the sea so you can sit back and enjoy the sea while zipping champagne. The «décor”(all the seats are outside!) is very simple and elegant.
Mattolaituri serves also some food, but they have a good selection of champagnes, which I think most people go for here. Not the cheapest place for sure, but definitely worth the visit!

Bit pricey but the venue on a sunny day is definetely one of the best locations in Helsinki to enjoy cold beer or a glass of wine.

Krass teurer, sogar für finnische Verhältnisse. Jedenfalls bekommt man eine kleine Flasche Cider auch in Helsinki an fast jedem anderen Ort für weniger als jene 8,50 Euro, die man im Mattolaituri löhnen muss (natürlich auch hier Selbstbedienung).
ABER: Dieses Café ist tatsächlich jeden Cent davon wert. Die Location mit wärmenden, schützenden Felsen im Rücken und Blick auf die massenhaft vorbeifahrenden Boote, die Inseln und das Meer sind einfach wunderbar.
Gleich nebenan befindet sich übrigens der Hafenbereich mit den (öffentlich zugänglichen) Holzkonstruktionen für die Teppichreinigung, die dem Mattolaituri den Namen gegeben hat.

Mattolaituri is situated right by the sea and its’s overlooking the beautiful Uunisaari so the location is absolutely superb! The architecture is minimalistic and the décor stylish, but it’s lacking some character. The place is very posh and expensive and consequently attracts a certain kind of a crowd. On the other hand the spot is so unique that many people visit the place maybe just once to enjoy a glass of wine and to enjoy the view. It has also become a place where people go to be seen.
I’d definitely recommend to have wine or champagne here, or coffee. Better not to order tea, because it was so disappointing that it made me laugh. For 4,50 € I got a glass of warm, not hot, water and a piteous teabag. I didn’t even drink it — I just enjoyed a moment in the sun and moved on.

A great place to sit and enjoy the sunshine and watch the boats go by. Mainly for drinks but also offers sandwiches and pastries. This place is a classic, only after operating for a couple of years!

My first time ever in Helsinki started with a visit at Mattolaituri. By the water this smal summer restaurant is situated. With a bootle of pink cava we sat done and had a perfekt view of the sunset and the archipelago. After a few hours the staff had to ask us to leave, since they had cloesed half an hour earlier… The didn’t want to tell us before, since we still had some left in our glases. Thats serviceminded staff!
Me and my company had a great first evening in Helsinki.
