3rd time eating at a restaurant called«Maharaja» in different cities within 1.5 weeks! This was the best of the lot. Food: 4 stars. Extremely rich & creamy«Punjabi-style» meal. Variety of veggie dishes — chickpea curry, paneer with peas, daal(lentils), chicken curry, naan bread, rice, and yogurt. The yogurt was slightly tart and super thick(greek yogurt x 3) — liked the tasted but not the consistency. Enjoyed the chicken curry but wish it was boneless. Paneer and daal were favorite dishes — which is a big deal for a carnivore! Did not care for the piece of rollcake served for dessert — tasted like out of convenience store bag. Service: 3 stars. Our group had a special buffet meal setup. Food was replenished in the beginning but not towards the end. No extra plates provided for refills — people had to reuse their original plate which is hygienically a bit off-putting. Our pitchers of water were refilled on initial request and then automatically thereafter. Bottom Line: Food was good but service needs some work. Would revisit for takeout or non-buffet meal.

reputedly one of the better Indian food joints in Helsinki, this place may have suffered from years of locals finding any authentic food«too spicy». As a result, they’ve reduced each dish to a pitiful echo of its true self. My chicken madras, supposedly a fragrant, highly spiced dish, was creamy and mild like a korma. The taste was not bad, but it was like asking for chocolate milkshake and getting strawberry. I had even specifically asked the waiter to ensure the food was spicy. He seemed to speak good English so perhaps he thought I was joking. Anyway, he ignored my specific request and brought me an insulting subterfuge of the dish it was supposed to be. My friend’s chicken tikka masala was much hotter, though saltier than the red sea. some bright spots like decent poppadums, but overall, I’d give it a miss unless you get the wait staff to sign a written contract that they’ll actually deliver what you request.
