New favorite sushi joint. Sushi is like my toddler’s #1 favorite thing to eat. It’s cute, it comes in funny little shapes, you get to eat glorified french fries that your mom thinks are healthy because they call it «tempura» and that just sounds fancy and worldly and you dip it in some special sauce not made by Heinz so it’s totally healthy and fine. That being said, eating sushi with my family is the dining equivalent of attending a wedding: rice is flung, tears are abundant, LOADS of tissue paper are a must, and there is always some form of dancing that takes place. Usually while standing on a table. Good times! Koto is awesome. The sushi is real, it’s got integrity, someone actually gave a shit while they were putting those rolls together just before bringing them to your table. The just-salty-enough miso soup is good for hangovers(I hear). They have amazing lunch deals(gyoza, 18 pcs veggie maki and 18 pc assortment platter with miso soup for 28e). The place isn’t a dump — it’s really nice inside and they will give you water in wine glasses and you’ll feel somewhat sophisticated. There isn’t any gimmick-y bullshit here. There’s straightforward, traditional sushi. The menu fits on one page. They have all the basics covered and what I’ve had is as solid as any good sushi I’ve had around the world. All that, AND they are totally cool with me bringing my erratic, emotionally unstable little sack of noise covered in dirt with me! Great food, really good lunch deals, baby seats(Yay! I’m so sorry, Koto!), super service, good location, nice interior, and I will be back soon. Hopefully alone. Please god: Alone. I will be there alone.

Had the broth meal. It was interesting, I had never had a plate of raw food served to me. You have to then cook it in a broth at your table. It wasn’t the most amazing meal, quite bland. But it was a new experience. I wouldn’t really recommend it but the other dishes on the menu looked good.
