Echo the review on SLOW service. Sunday noonish, no more than 10 customers, ordered breakfast and drinks. Expected tacos would at least be hot after waiting 20 minutes go them. They weren’t. «Specialty» drinks OK, not worth price tag. Had high hopes… Sigh!

After a wonderful bunch on an unseasonably warm Sunday, my boyfriend and I decided to wander around downtown Zionsville. I love the brick streets, cutely decorated businesses, and the presence of historical buildings that have been maintained over the years. The people of Zionsville take pride in where they live and it shows. Zionsville is easy to get to and once you’re there — you feel like you’re in a different world :) So on to Darrins! What really caught my eye was the brightly colored entrance combined with the historical marker/sign on the building. If its an old old building with some history, then it doesn’t take much to get me inside! Walking up the old staircase had me glowing with excitement. Exposed brick walls, dark(but bright enough to be safe ;)) with some funny chalk-written messages along the climb. The stairwell opens up to a beautiful — GORGEOUS space. Original wood floors, exposed beams, more exposed brick walls. I mean COMEON! I would live there if I could. Being the«new guy» to a coffee shop is always awkward as I try to figure out where everything is, what is available to order and what do I want… It was an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere. The person working at the cash register greeted us with a smile and offered to answer any questions we had. I told him I needed both energy and great flavor and was immediately guided to the Grasshopper(their signature drink). I had never tried green coffee before! I was excited to get the chance to try something new and even better… we got a free lesson in why the beans are«green» and what that really means! The ground green beans have a wonderful nutty, chocolate essence that made it very easy for me to agree to the Grasshopper. I was not disappointed. In fact, my 16oz beverage was gone before we got home(Eagle Creek). Just enough cocoa powder to turn the drink into a caffeinated dessert! I think I’ve found my new favorite place

I love little coffee shops. It’s hard to disappoint me when there is fresh espresso and handmade beverages! Honestly. I loved my chai latte, the hardwood floors, the low key ambiance. I went for a special event for yogis and win-os. It was a fun fun night in this cute little café. I would have loved a chance to go back and spend some time with friends over a cup of joe or for work. I am moving away but I would DEFINITELY spend more time here if I was staying. I love the building and the overall vibe. I love how they welcomed us and allowed us to do a yoga event and then indulge in some wine tasting.

Sooooo glad Darrin’s is still in Zionsville. The new shop has a lot more space and food offerings as well as the fabulous coffee. I love the grasshopper — I am usually a mocha fan but this drink kicks it up a notch and is a smoother, more sophisticated mocha. My kids cannot get enough of the hot chocolate, Darrin adds lots of chocolate goodness to it. If you are lucky enough to stop by when Darrin is in, you are in luck. The guy is a force to be reckoned with(in a good way) and can usually put a smile on anyone’s face. There are stairs to climb to get to Darrin’s but it is definitely worth the climb!

Well where to start. the building is beautiful and historic. The coffee shop is located upstairs with beautiful exposed brick and beams. There are comfortable brown couches for a group of 8 or a nice nook for a group of 4… bar stool tables for 2 or a bench and tables… the interior is wonderful. So everything else… service was GOD-AWFULSLOOOW! One of our orders was forgotten and they were out of most of their lunch items including the mini cheeseburger, chili and jambalaya… My medium Ebony & Ivory white and dark chocolate was tasty but not worth the $ 5.50. The smoothies were ok… large 24 oz. They offered several flavors but was out of most of them. After a carriage ride I was hoping to relax with a nice coffee and chat with the kids… instead I was waiting and waiting and waiting!

One of my favorite coffee/hot chocolate spots. Darrin is a great person so service of his staff is excellent. My favorite thus far is the red velvet hot chocolate and am awaiting his junior mint creation. He’s in the heart of downtown so it’s cool to grab a cup and stroll. He’s new place is so big that you can hang out awhile and get a little work done.
