Great breakfast. I love their sausage links. Staff is down home and friendly. If you’re looking for a small town dining experience, you won’t get any more authentic than this.

It’s NOT about the looks of this place, it’s the food. Friendly staff, always prompt, and best greasy spoon goodness you can find. NO the food is not greasy… I just mean top notch diner food. The place fills with locals if you need a better clue. They are NOT closed, by the way.

See Trip Advisor reviews. Filthy restaurant! Flies, Greasy booths that have not been cleaned in ages. Can’t speak about the food. I didn’t have the stomach to order.

The Longhorn Café… So many memories of this place. It has changed so much in the last 10 years its insane. When I first went to the Longhorn Café, I was probably 12. Their food was average for a café/buffet, nothin too special. They closed down for a few years due to lack of business and I believe just re-opened in 08 or somethin like that. My most recent experience here was awesome. I had Stacker flapjacks with fried eggs, ham and hashbrowns, and it tasted so amazing compared to the last time I had went. Soaked my hangover from the bowling alley from the night before right up. The food had done a complete 180, all now homemade and handcooked instead of hash browns from a bag and stuff like that. Was a really nice change in pace. The inside is completely redone and is just all in all much much more inviting than it was 10 years ago. Possibly under new management/ownership? I couldnt tell ya, I was too busy stuffing my face with those delicious flapjacks. The server we had was unbelievable, at our table every 5 minutes not even asking if we need a refill but taking away our old cups and replacing them with a new. That is quite rare from any café I go to in the cities. She was one of maybe 3 servers on a busy sunday morning filled with the churchgoers, and man she was on top of stuff. 5 star service right there. The only downside I believe it that they arent open all day, which is understandable considering the Longhorns last venture with those hours ended up… Well… Ending. But If i could go there at 8 at night after a big ol nap and get some breakfast food, Itd be a total 5 stars.(I believe they are only open til about 2 p.m. now) Anyways if you are ever caught out in the middle of nowhere AKA Zimmerman, MN stop by and give it a try. Its good eats there!

If your ever on your way up north on 169 and you arrive in the Zimmerman area feeling a bit hungry, this is a good cheap eats place to stop. Don’t expect anything fancy here, just straight up good homemade food. Doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner everything here is pretty good. The service is really friendly and I swear the prices haven’t changed in 10 – 15 years. My wife once tried to order just egg whites here and I’ll never forget the look on the waitresses face, I don’t think she’d ever heard of that before and my wife had to eat her eggs the way everybody else does, with the yoke and all. If you’re into french toast, they make about the best I’ve ever had so it’s definitely worth a try. They also make really good, and slightly greasy burgers. Probably not worth driving more than 20 miles or so to eat here, but it’s surly worth a stop if you’re heading up north sometime.

Good old home cooking! We were on our way up north and decided to stop here for lunch. It was a good choice, I must say. Very café /diner. Everything seemed to be made fresh and they had a nice selection of standard breakfast items and sandwiches. I had a very tasty Ruben and the coleslaw was fantastic. Not very often I get coleslaw that I like enough to consider ordering an extra side. They give you the little cup with the meal but this was worth seconds. A bit of a drive but when driving through it’s well worth it. KT
