An exceptional doctor. Having lived 78 years and had many eye exams, I can say without hesitation that Dr. Brendel is the most skilled, most patient, and most informative optometrist I have met. When he completes his thorough (yes thorough) examination of your eyes, he discusses their condition with you and provides both oral and written tips on how to help you restore or to maintain good vision. Be not deceived by his Wal-​Mart location. After a successful career in Sacramento, he came to Yuba City to ease up a bit and live in a quality rural town. He is personable, honest, affordable, and truly cares about his patients’ welfare.

Simply the rudest and most insensitive optometrist in town. He’s lucky he is tied in with Walmart. Otherwise, he would be out of business.

I used to be one of those snobs that assumed a doctor from Walmart can’t possibly be good. I found out I was completely wrong! Dr Brendel might very well be the best eye doctor I’ve ever met in my life, and I’m not young. D not be dismayed by the location. Instead get smart, save some money, and go get an excellent exam by an extremely knowledgeable and educated eye doctor. Bonus he’s really nice too!

The most caring eye Dr I have met. He has a true passion for his job and he saved me hundreds of dollars other eye Dr’s were happy to charge me. I know it seems odd going to Walmart for a decent Dr. But this one is for real. He impressed me so much, I took my Mother in Law there as well and instead of ordering expensive prescription glasses, he was kind enough to let us know her prescription was mild enough she could just use the magnified reading glasses for $ 5.00!

This was the first time I met with Dr. Brendel, based on a recommendation from my wife. Dr. Brendel obviously really enjoys his work. He is extremely attentive and careful with his examination, and clearly enjoys helping people with their eyes.
