DIRECTIONS:(FROMNORTH) Get off of I-5 at exit 786 to HWY96. Turn left onto HWY96. Follow 96 about 6 miles. It is on the left.(FROMSOUTH). Don’t take 263 out of Yreka. Just go past Yreka to exit 786. It is faster. This campground is a National Park Campground. It is beautiful coming in on HWY96, and when we were there in high summer(all other campgrounds in Cali are packed), this one was almost completely empty. It is very hard to get RV’s down to it, so it is primarily tent camping. Sites are close together though, so if it is busy, you may be a little closer than ideal. All sites come with fire pit and table. The sunset in this valley is absolutely amazing and I recommend it even if you are not camping here. The only negative thing I have about this, is that the flies in the pit toilets had been left unchecked by camphosts/national park rangers. A simple trap would have made a huge difference, as the restrooms were uninhabitable due to the drove of flies. We had stayed in the Rogue River campground up the road in Oregon before, and if you are tent camping and looking for something with less people, take the time and go to this place instead.
