This is another cool little gem of a rock and mineral store. No pun intended. I know nothing about rocks and they were so patient with me and so kind. After the very cute girl told me things about rocks and minerals and where they were found and what kind they are. I now have a huge crush

This is the best rock shop in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. I took a beading course with my mother and it was really nice. We left with enough beads and wire to finish our projects and complete a few others. Awesome bead selection, lots of different materials for beading, awesome crystal and stone collection and very reasonably priced. Gail(the owner) is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and she’s almost always there. They sell a variety of handmade jewelry which is all absolutely beautiful. You can park in the lot across the street for free for 2 hours if that’s full, street parking is usually available out front for $ 1 – 2 per hour in coinage. EDIT:Went in 1÷31÷2015 and it was Gail’s last day working there. She will still be in from time to time, but she is no longer there on a regular basis– no need to worry her employees are both great.

I’ve been to World of Rocks twice and my experiences were vastly different. I love supporting my local businesses, but this shop has me scratching my head. I first went in a few years ago. The woman in the shop was very nice. I inquired about a few things and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. I returned for my second visit just a few days ago. My friend and I greeted by being asked to place our coffees on a table to «free up our hands» by a different woman. Easy enough, happy to follow any rules. Wandering around the store browsing with my companion, the shopkeeper asks if my friend will take her gloves off and for me to set my purse under the table(out of my possession…). At this point, I’m beginning to feel a little insulted, as though I cannot manage myself and need assistance. No one else in the busy store was asked such a thing. Whether it was intended or not, I felt that I was looked down upon and not welcome. That’s not what customers want to feel.

This local shop has lots to offer for how small it is. The grab bags are tons of fun and a must for the kids, adult kids too! I’ve always got some gemstones in the ones I’ve picked! They offer really cool classes, but I haven’t been able to attend.

What a gem! Pun intended. Went into town to get a haircut, and I quickly got sidetracked by this great store. As a 6th grade science teacher who teaches two geology units during the school year, I was like a kid in a candy shop. Ended up leaving with 70 tiny Petoskey stones and a polishing kit for a SWEET activity to do with my kiddos before the Winter break — for just over $ 10!!! The staff was super sweet and helpful… let me sit in the back room for a half hour picking out just the right rocks for my students. Oh, and P. S…they have a friggin’ dinosaur egg in there. No joke. Rock on, World of Rocks.

I love, love, loved my experience here! The staff really knew their stuff and could explain something about each of the minerals and semiprecious gems I selected. I am looking forward to taking my macramé class this month.

If you are in search for that perfect headdie power crystal to gift to your favortie level 97 warlcok, than this is the spot for you. Some people claim that they can feel the power and energy flowing through crystals and that cetrain types of rocks can heal through magical powers. Unfortunately i lost this abitly after i hit puberty. But they sure are pretty. I can see how a previous Unilocaler did not have a pleasant experience. I do not have that problem. The owner loves the hell out of me and whoever else i bring in. She even went outside to stuff a few quarters in the meter so we could continue shopping. In hindsight, that was rather clever. There are a wide variety of gem and mineral specimens along with a moderate selection of crystal seed beads and findings. The shop is much like a mueseum and has name tags and information on most of the specimens. It’s not the most elaborate spread in the world, but for a botique it cetrainly lives up to my expectations. They offer a hand full of different classes as well. Pretty nice little spot. Whenever i am around the area i try to stop in and pick up some rocks for my collection.

In an area with lots of good bead stores, World of Rocks is unique because of the inclusion of fossils, rocks, and semi-precious gemstones. The shop has a bit of a New Age feel to it. It’s small but has an interesting collection of beads and stones. You can take beading classes here as well. The only downside is that it’s only open until 5 p.m. several weekdays. I had trouble remembering which days it was open until 7 p.m., so I have– on two separate occasions– shown up with a friend around 5:30 or 6 p.m. only to find out that they’d closed at 5 p.m.
