Great hometown spot for very casual dining. Temporarily closed due to a fire — August 2015.

I’ve been coming to ricks with my family for years and it has been great every time! Good restaurant and good service! I always have an omelette which tastes great but their pancakes are also great! We love ricks such a good spot for families!

Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Hubby had a chicken pesto omelet. I had the bacon scrambler. Both were good dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive. We would definitely return.

We stopped here for breakfast as we like to try the local places when we travel. The food was good — nothing crazy amazing but it fueled our bike ride to the Nubble light house. Since we brought our bikes, we didn’t have to worry about parking. We got seated right away and didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come out. We hung out for a while after eating(before we hopped back on our bikes) and didn’t receive any dirty looks from the staff so I’d call it a breakfast success!

New cook? I don’t like breakfast foods so when I go out to breakfast with my husband, I always get a BLT. It’s been awhile since I last went out to breakfast with him. The menu has changed. While it wasn’t difficult for them to make a BLT, the waitress lacked positive attitude and/or approach leading me to feel like I was asking for world peace. It also sounded like she has an attitude problem with the other waitresses as she argued/voiced displeasure in front of several tables of customers. All because another waitress brought her food out to her table for her. I was looking forward to a grill muffin, but it appears those are not an option, anymore. My husband always gets, what he considers to be the best, cheese omelet. He’s ordered it for years. He said it changed and it was not for the good. The onions in the hash browns were soggy and the hash browns changed, as well, and not for the good. My BLT had a blotch of mayo in the center where I had to spread it around myself, the lettuce was not fresh and the presentation was horrible. I wouldn’t normally judge based on presentation, but my sandwhich was thrown together without any care at all. And, it wasn’t cheap like it used to be. $ 6.25 for a very small, low quality BLT is not worth it. I’ll drive to the Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth next time. As a local, it saddens me to report we won’t go back to a place we have frequented for 11 years. Oh and I feel obligated to point out that there was trash tucked in a corner of the table, the ketchup bottle was empty and there was funk on the tops of corners of the tables. Whoever cleans their tables after each use needs a lesson on cleaning the basics and ensure they remove all the trash.

With all the good reviews, I had higher expectations. Listen… People order eggs in a manner to keep the yolks in tact; amazing, isn’t it? If I owned or cooked at a breakfast restaurant, I would not send out an egg with a popped yolk, nevermind 2. If I want popped yolks, I’ll cook my own frigging eggs! It shows absolutely no pride from the cook. I’ve sent eggs back before and always get unpleasant looks from waitstaff, so I bite my tounge. Would this piss you off too? I have nothing bad to write about the service, they were very nice. CASH only. Seriously? This is 2014.

Food is «eh» but the wait staff is just terrible… Every time I have been, they seem inconvenienced that a customer is there. Marge, the former owner, seemed to make it even worse. Very unwelcoming to non-locals… And I can’t imagine locals like this place all that much either. It’s definitely gone downhill in the past few years. Save your time.

Came the day a microburst took down trees in the area glad they were open. A simple comfortable place w a simple menu w a nice array of choices. The corn beef was moist tasty and perfect in the Reuben served on a hearty multi rye. My pal had a chicken caesar which was generous tasty and had a good dressing. The onion rings were made there w a thin batter coating w an xtra dash of salt and pepper they were good though I usually like a heavier batter. Also had a tomato w roast veggie soup With more roasted veg and slightly thicker purée woulda liked it more. Waitress was fast funny and down to earth made u feel comfy def will go again soon

Irish eggs benedict with Home made hash was very good, my wife really liked their french toast. Service was the only thing holding back the 5 stars

Had a short stack of blueberry pancakes and side of homemade corned beef hash — delish! Great no frills spot where you can dine among the locals. Will be back!

Other than the pancakes and biscuits the food was good. The biscuits are not quite biscuits, and the pancakes were very heavy and almost had a lemon flavor to them.

I go to Ricks all the time when I’m home from college. The post about not serving lunch during breakfast will be true at ANY resteraunt. Clearly his lack of patience, even though he stated it was busy, impacted his review(complaining about a 20 minute wait… seriously?) Food generally comes out in a timely fashion by very friendly staff and I’ve NEVER had a bad meal! Huge fan of the eggs Benedict– try it with sausage and spinach(waitress recommended it, obsessed since)

The best blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had! When I found Rick’s, it was during a road trip, and I remember someone telling me about this place, so I stopped. Blueberry pancakes, sausage, and maple syrup fit the bill perfectly! I never thought I’d say this, but I’m already planning another another trip to Maine to eat here!

Went to Rick’s for breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday .There were 6 of us on Saturday and 7 total on Sunday. We were seated promptly each time and had the same great waitress. Our orders were taken and served promptly and every order was dead on balls accurate and cooked to perfection. Great coffee and reasonable prices as well.

Awesome! Eggs Benedict on crab cakes no more needs to be said. Homemade hash with peppers and onions, they give you the option for canned hash, no choice as far as I’m concerned. Great service, friendly and happy staff and very reasonable prices. If you want a great breakfast, Rick’s is the place to go!

The place where the York locals go. Great small town diner. The management has changed almost every year I’ve been back to visit. The food and waitresses seem to stay the same(which are terrific) but the food has changed each time. Of note are the grilled blueberry muffins which are fantastic. The specials all look good too. Update: visited again in June 2015. The house-made corned beef has with eggs was pretty good.

A must-go to place for breakfast while in York. I’ve been here many times and absolutely love it. I’ve never been disappointed. I particularly love the eggs and pancakes. The size is definitely on the smaller side but was happy to accommodate my group of seven without a problem. (Rick’s will always be in my heart since the first time I came here they were having an anniversary special from when they first opened with original prices. We had a HUGE breakfast for $ 6!)

I don’t always eat blueberry pancakes, but when I do, I choose Rick’s. Obviously a special from-scratch batter goes into these, and a short stack with a side of sausage is just right. Also – open really early!
