I live nearby and have been here maybe 10 times. Honestly, if the owner is present, he’s not very personable, but when I’ve been here other times, the service is awesome. So 5 stars for them. The owner needs to like the newbies too. It would make us want to come back more. But thanks for hiring such great staff.

Just saw the bar rescue revisit. Dude pos bar with a meat head owner. Anyways anyone who goes to this dump gets what they deserve. Cops all over the place. I could actually have the cc pulled for false transaction by owner tempting. Stay away from this eye sore and hopefully like the surrounding businesses it will just go away

Worst bar ever. owner was rude when we needed help with the pool table. Very intemidating and his attitude was harsh. My jack and coke tasted so bad. I forced myself to drink it so I wasn’t wasting my money. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get premium whiskey but we’ll whisky instead. A huge rip off. It’s very dirty and the band’s that play there are scary. Metal death music made me feel uncomfortable. Their drinks were expensive for a dive bar so let’s just say we will be going to sammies bar and grill from here on out. Canyon inn missed out on new customers.

The place sucked… the owner is a joke. The place has the worse food ever! Terrible service and the one woman in the place was butt ugly… the name Canyon Inn sounds like a cheap hotel… what an idiot! Inn? Really? The cheap grocery store soup he serves explains why there is no women there! It reminds me of a that gay bar on «police academy«lol. How this jerk off stays in business I’ll never know.

Horrible service and atmosphere, don’t waste your money here. There are so many better options that don’t have nasty regulars.

awful experience. never go here I never experience such awful customer service. drinks were not good and food was not fresh at all. I could have done all that at my house and saved the time I wasted there.

Stay Away! This dive bar hates people who are not locals! Came here while on a trip around LA and let me say, don’t walk in if you aren’t a local regular. The leering looks I got as a young Indian man bordered on threatening. Not sure why anyone would want a paying customer to basically run out after one drink, but that’s exactly what I did. Find ANYTHING else — I’m sure there’s an Applebee’s somewhere around here.

Went through this town to visit relatives. There were a few cars in the parking lot. Mostly POS and work trucks, but we stopped in for a quick bite if possible and hopefully some coffee as we were driving about 100 more miles. The restroom was dirty and smelly, so there goes the appetite! Attitude for days from the staff… NO coffee(really?), and it seemed to be a we don’t know you, and we don’t want to know you type happy hour. Everyone was just… ANNOYING. And LOUD. You know, that big ol’ donkey girl scout LOL!?! Couldn’t enjoy our cokes and fifteen minutes off the highway. We just left. Police in the parking lot by then. I was kinda hoping they could arrest the«laughing man» for Crimes Against Nature… Unfortunately, I don’t think they can enforce those laws. Just a shitty experience.

My family was in the area overnight and my adult children wanted to go out for drinks. They stopped here at a dive place and had a few beers to find out once they got the bill they were charged $ 11 for a domestic beer. Who charges $ 11 for a domestic beer? I was so disgusted that they took advantage of customers like this. People beware!!! Not worth the visit. I don’t think they learned anything from the Bar Rescue. We have dive bars locally and this doesn’t happen here but I guess that’s the difference between a bar that does well and one that needs to be rescued. I hope it was worth the $ 11/beer or should I say the $ 100 plus you ripped them off for, you all must be desperate to stay open. Try not ripping people off!

My buddy owns a dive bar out of town and puts this one to shame. I grew up going to this place but it’s a shell of what I experienced years ago. A dive bar should have character you enjoy, not a character that annoys. Can’t wait for the new owner to take over. Until then I won’t be back and make sure everyone knows to stay away.

Just realized I never wrote a review on this place. I actually came here 5 years ago when the bf at the time and I were in the Anaheim area. The name was actually called The Canyon SALOON back then. We stumbled upon this place accidentally when we checked into the hotel late and looking for a place to drink at. Using Unilocal’s nearby places tab, we found this place and he realized it was from the show Bar Rescue! It was within walking distance so might as well check it out! I was super excited! Coming to a place featured on a tv show is like meeting a celebrity in my opinion! Well, kinda. Anyways, we got in and damn… I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad bit disappointed. The so called«rescued» bar was nothing more than just a local dive bar. The place was packed, don’t get me wrong, and we were lucky to find 2 seats near the end of the bar. We met the owner later in on the night and as much as I’m sure he’s heard the questions/topics thousands of times, we couldn’t help but ask and discuss his experience with the Bar Rescue show. It was definitely interesting hearing from the business’ side of the story and makes television not all rainbows and butterflies as we see it. None the less, despite this place being just a dive, we both had a good time drinking and listening to the live music set up in the corner. The band even did a cover of Foster the People’s Pumped Up Kicks!!! Gooooood times…

Cheap beer. Unfortunately everything else in this dive bar is cheap and disgusting. If you order anything besides a bottled beer you probably won’t be pleased. Oh, and God help you if you order any food, you’re better off dumpster diving behind the Arby’s. Save your time and money, grab a six pack and drink with some friends in front of 7-Eleven…it’s cleaner and friendlier!

Shitty bar. I got hassled by the regulars of the bar. I don’t know if it’s because my friends were black but it could be. Just my my opinion. Drinks were strong so that’s a plus but there was no girls… like 0. So that sucked… don’t come here unless you’re into dudes…

I have been here twice. Once with some friends which was a completely awful experience full of dirt and poorly mixed drinks. I decided to give it another chance. The most disheveled and creepy bar I’ve ever had the displeasure of stepping into. My girlfriend felt completely harassed and violated by multiple men(whom looked familiar so I can only assume they’re regulars.) Soon I noted that my girlfriend was one of only a few women in the bar. Now I know why. Not to mention that the owner looked like he was ready to jump anyone at any time. Awful drinks. Awful cleanliness. Awful people in the bar. Just do yourself and find another local joint.

Worst experience ever. The female bartender is the rudest server I have ever seen in my life. After more than an hour wait for a sample platter our food we ordered 30 minutes later came out. My friend asked for the third time what the delay was. The bartender then screamed that she«doesn’t give a f*ck! Then began yelling at my friend calling him an asshole and pointing in his face. Two minutes later she returned with a male bartender who told us we had to leave. Worst dining experience EVER!!! I feel bad after tipping over $ 7 for our first drink order.

I gotta be honest, I have been here 2 times recently and have had a similar experience each time. first time was 3 weeks ago after playing an all-day softball tourney down the street. Part of our team was exhausted and needed to relax after 3 games and an elimination we weren’t happy about. 5 of us went in and the place wasn’t busy at all. we all had beers except for the heavy hitters who had JD. The price was right, beer was good and plenty of TVs to watch. we are an «older»(ave age of 45) but bigger kind of guys. Beards, tattoos but all family men with kids. we never look for trouble, but twice we kept getting mad dogged by 2 locals at the bar. it really appeared they did not want us there and were obvious locals. On our second round, I walked to the bar to order and introduced myself to the 2 gents. One shook my hand while the other grabbed for his beer instead of my hand. I told them I would love to buy them a beer especially since one was wearing military insignia and I was also in the service. as soon as I showed humility and offered a free beer, they loosened up and the tension was gone. But it’s the way we approached it that avoided a problem. We finished our 2nd drink, I tipped my hat to the 2 regulars and we left. Not a bad experience and we realized its a local dive bar. The 2nd experience was far worse. Again, after softball game me and my teammate took our wives there early Saturday evening. Within 5 minutes I was«bumped» into twice. the 2nd time spilling my beer. And no, it wasn’t that crowded. It was obvious it was intentional. After the 2nd time I realized both people who«bumped» into me were from the same group and they were having a good laugh at my expense. I wanted to get angry but my buddy calmed me. we ordered another drink and this time, a 3rd person from the same group approached our table. He extended his hand out as if to apologize for the 2 other«friends» of his. I shook his hand and instead of him apologizing I realized he had spread mustard and ketchup on his hand in order to shake mine with it. When I realized, I stood up. immediately I was half circled with a total of 4 guys, the 2 that bumped into me, the guy that shook my hand with mustard and a 4th of their party. Then one of them winked at my wife and blew her a kiss… that was it. I was ready to go to jail. but the funny thing was, no words were really spoken between us. No yelling, nothing. we truly did nothing to draw attention to ourselves… My wife quickly got between me and the 4 guys and probably saved me from going to either the hospital or jail… we left not paying for the 2nd round and I wiped my mustard hand off on my batting towel… I would never go back… Is any of this the owner’s fault? No and yes… Did we try the food? no… I don’t know what it is. the only thing I can think of is they didn’t want to softball crowd to go to the bar? But isn’t the owner a softball player? I don’t know. Don’t get it. I’m still scratching my head but thankful to my wife for stopping what would’ve been a hell of a fight. This place reminds me of the local surf point where if you’re not a regular, you’re not welcomed. I won’t go back simply because I am not welcomed by the locals. And thats fine by me, there are enough beer joints to relax at after a game.

It’s not a thumbs down, terrible experience at a bar. I just think there are much better bar options in the area. The bartenders aren’t extremely helpful and attentive. Paulie is good when he is behind the bar, but some of their bartenders could care a little bit more, especially when it’s slow. I’ve never ate there, so no comment on the food. Plenty of HDTV’s, and it’s solid for NFL Sundays. The biggest problem I think is I never see many women in the bar. As Jon Taffer would say, females attract customers! Alot of local bros who probably graduated at Canyon or Esperanza seem to be 75% of the clientele. Several nights its an older, dive bar crowd. I live just a few blocks away and they’re open til 2 whereas my prefered local bar closes by 12 so I have had a few«close it down» nights here.

First time here and have always wanted to check this place out due to Bar Rescue. The place is a dive to say the least, but charges you pub charge on premium spirits. The was no service, even going to the bar you had to wait forever for someone to serve you. Granted it was a busy night due to UFC fight, but the most of the crowd was on the way out. I wish they would at least wipe things down. Bar qas soaked and when the owner just throws the cash at you right in the puddle of whatever. It for sure isnt going to stay there or go into my wallet. Restroom was nasty as some poor sap couldn’t hold his dinner and puked in the urinal. The highlight was the band. A cover band playing mainly 80’s rock was pretty spot on and the sound was pretty good for such a small place.

Growing up in Yorba Linda there is a soft spot in my heart for the Canyon inn. Now I’m pushing 50 so I’ve been an off and on patron for going on 30 years. The big plus is watching Sunday morning NFL games here, lots of TV screens and a decent breakfast menu. Now the down side, this place is a true dive bar. The problem is this place has no problem over stuffing this place at night. You throw in a young crowd with a 6 to 1 male to female ratio(wienerfest) and you’ve got a powder keg ready to explode in violence at any time. I stop coming here on popular nights as this neighborhood icon turns into a nuisance bar. I got tired of being«mad dogged» by 20 something knuckleheads. I’ll be back but not after 10 pm. Also heads up. The cops stake this place out for tipsy drivers. I’m not condoning drinking and driving but you also don’t want the hassle of proving you’re below the limit.
