It was announced yesterday that Haggen will be leaving California. I, like many others, am not surprised. I just didn’t think it would happen so fast! I don’t understand how a grocery store that has been around since 1933, does not understand how to be competitive. One would think it would have been better to undercut prices in the beginning in order to establish the reputation of being the«low price leader,» take the financial hit and then slowly raise prices. Instead, Haggen has the opposite perception. In the end, anything Haggen has tried to salvage its reputation is too little, to late.

As other Unilocalers have written, this store is ridiculously overpriced. It is cheaper to shop at Whole Foods, which, in my opinion, is also very pricey. I will not shop here again.

Everyone of these stores is understaffed at checkout. Empty and still waiting in line. Not a pleasant experience.

$ 5 for a small tub of ice cream? Are you kidding me? I suppose this expensive offering of familiar products is supposed to help Haggen pay off the cheap upgrades from the Albertsons that used to be here(which sold ice cream tubs for $ 3.50, by the way). Oh, you have some wood flooring and dark green signs now? So edgy. Now convince me why those«upgrades» and name change is supposed to make me want to pay more money for the same products Albertsons sold before you bought them out. It’s also pretty sad that $ 5 was the *cheapest* ice cream tub available(HAGGEN branded vanilla, hmmmm favoritism much?). The others were practically the same size but at least $ 0.50 more than the Haggen ice cream. On a previous visit to this Haggen(back when I’d heard the horror stories on Unilocal and even in the news but thought«how bad could it be really?»), I paid like $ 3.50 for a pineapple. Are you kidding me? Even more upscale places with quality products like Trader Joes don’t charge that much! Everything else was so overpriced(Red Bulls cost more than they do at the gas station, which I thought were already ridiculously priced) that I usually hustle through checkout lines, hoping I never have to come back to this depressing place again because driving out if my way to Ralph’s or Von’s is better than dropping money at a store that doesn’t yet understand the balance between price and value offered.

Omg super expensive! Miss the old Albertsons prices and sales on the basic staples. Good thing Von’s Pavillions is not too far, bigger store, more brand selection, and better quality of products. Definitely not getting the cat food here. Outrages prices I’d only expect from PetSmart.

Yeah, no… My Fresh step Cat litter is 18.99 at Pavilions, 24.99 at Haggens, never mind, I left and went to Pavillions. 5 dollars more… yeah no

Haggens bacon from the Butcher counter is now $ 7.00lb. Simply Orange OJ now $ 6.79. I was told for the 4th of July holiday they would be having an amazing sale. NOT! J u st because we live in Yorba Linda does not mean we don’t want good food prices. We aren’t idiots that will just pay any price. Wonder how long Haggens will be there? My primary grocery store is now Ralphs.

I’m loving this store. Every week the prices are getting better. The produce is beautiful, and they have a great selection of everyday items and specialty etc. The Meats are great, much better than Albertsons ever were. Stop complaining and embrace the change and new offerings we now have. I will definitely shop here more often.

I have lived in Yorba Linda, just a stones throw away from Albertsons, all of my adult life and I knew that Haggen was going to have a hard time with the residents here. NOONE around here likes change, however, I have to tell you that Haggen has done this area a favor!!! When the Vons went out of biz down La Palma it was replaced by an Ice Skating Rink, I would have absolutely died if no market took over this spot when Albertsons was going out of biz. With that said, originally I can see that people thought they were a bit overpriced, but let me tell you that they have LOWERED their prices dramatically and on some things I have never seen them so low. They are slowly introducing their deli and seafood counters(I follow them on twitter) and when all is said and done, this is going to be a blessing to this neighborhood. I already like them better than Albertsons. They have a HUGE organic presence, which Albertsons did not. On some things, you get what you pay for — and I would rather pay more for better quality and organic. I loved Albertsons, but knowing that Haggen is going to replace the old frozen seafood offered in the fish dept with FRESH fish is wonderful, and I EXPECT to pay more for better quality. Good grief people, they even kept the amazing Albertsons staff!!! NOTE: Their deli counter is amazing. You cannot beat their fresh, no weird ingredients, lunch meat and salad choices!!! If you don’t want organic, fresh food and only want inexpensive cheap food — go to another market. If you enjoy the likes of Whole Foods, Sprouts & Trader Joes — this is your market. I am thrilled with everything they have done and are doing. The reason Albertsons didn’t survive SoCal is because they didn’t do these things. We need to support this market or we are going to end up with a skating rink in this spot. UGH!

Too expensive! I miss Albertsons prices, especially their deli/chicken specials. I just travel the extra way to Pavilions.

I stopped by again and the sign out front says«5000 new products coming soon». Well, they better hurry up and get some new stuff. At minimal, don’t charge 99 cents a pound for beat up old bananas, have the cashiers smile, and put some newer products in here.

Sad to see Albertsons closed and this place open. The produce has been bad the two times I have been here and the prices are much much higher than the other local stores. We definitely won’t be back.

$ 34/lb salmon, $ 28/lb filet, $ 12/lb trout, $ 20/lb ribeye? No thanks. Albertson’s was great, and they always had stuff on sale. This place took quite a few products away and javked up prices on the rest. I’m severely disappointed.

Eh… Too expensive! Gosh, it is way more expensive that Alberstons. Just because Yorba Linda is «the land of gracious living» doesn’t mean that we don’t like to save money. I was looking forward to checking out the new neighborhood market hoping it would be great. But I was very disappointed. It still had the same layout as Albertsons, but with Haggen products. Came here for for frozen yogurt, organic eggs and k-cups. They don’t have frozen yogurt. Why not? They just have regular ice cream and frozen custard and they are all expensive $ 5 – 6.99. This one brand of organic eggs I wanted to try was $ 5.99 and had a $ 1 off coupon, but then I looked at the sell by date and it was April 23rd, 2015. It’s April 20th today. Yikes! They have a great selection of k-cups, but they were more expensive than Vons.(Dang it, I should’ve gotten some when I was at Vons). The only thing I liked was that they still have the same sushi place at the back. I got some crunch rolls, and they were pretty tasty ^_^.

Well like the other reviewers we walked in hoping to find a great new store. My 7 year old walks in looks around and says, «This is Albertsons.» Well yes it looks like it but prices were high and there was nothing special. The meat looked old there were several packages of meat that had changed color. Be sure to check expiration dates. I bought Foster Farm chicken and it was use by the next day. Usually there is a few day grace period. In the produce section a customer was upset with the employee telling him all of the packaged salad had expired. I walked by again and he had pulled every bag from every shelf. Go elsewhere nothing special here.

I don’t see how Haggen can be saved. Once you price yourself out of the market, people will not return. Haggen blamed it’s mistakes on it’s pricing? If I would have been running the chain, I would have worked 24 hours a day until the pricing was corrected. To be honest, this would have NEVER happened on my watch. Walmart, Von’s, Albertson’s and Smith’s are always checking the competition’s prices. These chain’s are adjusting prices every hour, of everyday. It’s called competition. As for Haggen, they assumed the consumer would not notice. Maybe Haggen can promote the stores as Ghost Towns?. In the end, the store associates are the victims in this Haggen mess. They have signs that say always low prices. They charge 6.99 for Dreyers Ice Cream? That’s higher than Gelsons, Whole Foods and Bristol Farms. This company is in for a rude awakening in Southern California. I always wondered how they financed the purchase of over 140 stores. Answer: High Prices! They will not survive! Look at Fresh and Easy, another high priced failure. Fresh and Easy will be gone within 18 months. If this strange named Haggen does not change, they are next.

Overpriced for the same quality. Albertsons had a better deli, bakery, and meat departments.

I have been shopping at this Albertsons for almost ten years and was really hoping for this conversion to be awesome. Let’s just say it is super unimpressive. Pros: great produce, meat and seafood selections. Pricing here is actually not bad for organic and prime options. Deli section and bakery seemed really nice too. Cons: The pricing is just unreal. Your everyday items,(like everything) is extremely higher than Albertsons. This place is not a whole foods, trader joes or even a sprouts, it’s set up like a normal grocery store with just crazy high prices for the SAME items. Like I said, I’ll pay more for a better product but not for the same thing. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean but it’s so frustrating because the staff is part of why I love to shop here. But honestly just because I live in YL doesn’t mean I can afford to get ripped off. Hoping for changes by haggen soon…

I went out of my way to visit this«new» market that used to be an Albertson’s. The shelves and selections seemed sort of bare, but perhaps this is because the place is new.(It isn’t really new though. It was an Albertson’s just a few days ago. Also, I noted the prices are very high. For instance, ONE Lean Cuisine frozen dinner was $ 4.40. I don’t know anyone who would pay that. This place won’t last long with such high prices and a meager selection.

Grand Opening today, in the old Albertsons location. The store layout is the same with Starbucks, US Bank and pharmacy. There is as nice organic produce section, and everything was near and clean. Lots of curious shoppers, and I saw a huge Apple pie. I can’t wait too try their Double R Ranch meat. «We recommend the ribeye. It’s life changing», they say. I also want to try their store brand canned goods. Haggen has been around since 1933.
