New owners and a new server that is very friendly and happy to help. He is on top of it. Way better than the previous.

Prob never going back again. We work nearby so on lunch we decided to try this place out by recommendation of one of the coworkers. Got seated fine, ordered great. Drinks came out pretty quick wait. wait. 30 minutes later. wait… wait… 15 minutes later… wait. Oh shit, it’s almost time to go back to work! Damn i’m parched. No refills no check ups. nothin! I got up to tell them to just put all of our stuff togo. 15 minutes later finally got it. Burrito was not the best but not worth an hour of my time.

Now called Papa’s Tacos under new ownership. Our ice hockey team played next store and was lucky enough to arrange for dinner after the game for about 25 players and parents. They took our orders by jersey number(separate checks) which is great for the families but sometimes hard on the staff since the players and parents are usually not sitting together. Papa’s handled this with no problems. A lot of restaurants the team has gone to will take our orders by jersey number, but when the food comes it’s a yell out for who had this and that. Papa’s came out with the food each time knowing who it belonged to, which is a big plus. Everyone loved the food and prices were good too. Definitely will make sure to eat here again next time we play in town. Thanks Papa’s

Esthes Taco’s is closed! The owner sold and the restaurant now has a new owner and name… Papa’s Taco’s. Stop in and help the new owner out, food is fresh and I recommend you try the ceviche. Oh and they’re open 7days a week.

The service was great. No issues there at all. The food was decent but not the best I’ve ever had. The chips were good — the thick homemade kind. The salsa was a little bland for my taste but not bad. Good menu selection — something for everyone. The chicken taco was better than most. Not too impressed with the carne asada. Beans were good. Rice is average. A couple decent beers, and nice drink selection. Fresh brewed iced tea — always a bonus for me. I was expecting better based on so many friends raving over the place but it definitely wasn’t bad. If you go, don’t get attached — the owners have changed and Esther’s will be called Papa’s Tacos in less than a month.

Used to visit the OG Esther’s Taco’s in Downey back in the day, and this place has kept the great consistency with the food quality. Now that I’m in Riverside, thanks for coming closer to me. Definitely worth the 20 minute drive!

WELOVEESTHERS! If you want to experience local folks serving AWESOME mexican food and good beer at the right price then go here. What would we do without this place? Lunch or dinner or a late breakfast and they have sports tvs going and a bar(which I have never been in but is typically at least half full of normal looking folks enjoying good food and good atmosphere — no slimy factor and no stuffy factor either — just perfect. It is in a weird area — next to like ICECASTLESPALACE or something and some wanky burger joint in an ugly little strip type mall right off the 91 fwy between Weir and Green River. IFYOUAREEVERSTUCKINTRAFFICATGREENRIVERANDYORBALINDABLVDTHENSTOPHERETILTRAFFICDIESDOWN. YOu will be happy you did, Don’t be afraid of the modest exterior or the out of the way location because if you want real food real folks and fair price go here. I love the shrimp tacos but my signif other likes the green sauce — actually I do too and the salsas they make there are SOGOOD. Wish I was there now.

This was the worst mexican food I have ever had. Our table ordered the –carne asada burrito: bland, tough meat. No fixings in the middle. –bowl of green chili and pork: green chile was ok, but the pork was tough! –huevos rancheros: bland The prices were resonable and the waitress was nice, but the taste was horrible.

==The Good== + Four words for you«Hard Shell Chicken Tacos» and you’re crazy if you don’t at least give them a shot. This is a balanced no b.s. taco — has just the right amount of lettuce/cheese and leaves you nice and full. + The chips rock, end of story. These are some next level tortilla creations. Trust me when I say you won’t be able to control yourself. + Super friendly staff and bar crowd. Waitress would always come by and ask if I needed something which is huge at any bar. + I eat in the bar exclusively because I usually go in to watch a sports game but they have a great sit down area if you’re bringing the family in or have ==The Bad== — I’m not a beer snob but come on get a better beer selection.(Maybe something local? Bootlegger, Hanger, Stone etc)

This review of Ester’s taco house is based solely upon their Taco Tuesday special. I have been to Ester’s for Taco Tuesday a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is always wonderful and the service fast and friendly. The tacos are not a dollar, but $ 2 for a totally filled taco is only a little more. And Ester’s gives you their regular tacos for Taco Tuesday not some slimed down ones to get you in. You get a choice of all of the available meats. I am partial to the chicken myself. Chips and Salsa(which are very good) are also included. Beans and Rice are extra for the special. I would get there early as this place really fills up once dinner time sets in. I guess the locals know a great deal when they see one! Esters is a bit out of the way, way down La Palma almost to Gypsum Canyon but well worth the drive on Tuesday nights! I am sorry, I can not speak to the rest of the menu as we never seem to want to try anything but the tacos on Tuesday!

Best chicken tacos in the world! The service is amazing and the crowds are fun. Clara and Mark are the BEST servers in the world and they are working so hard every time i see them. My boyfriend and I come in a lot and we know who works hard. When we get there, the other servers(i dont quite know all of their names) know to bring us the same drinks eveytime and we they put in our orders right away! love you guys! — # 12 no tomato and burrito boy :)

This place was my manager’s 2nd favorite Mexican joint around the area during her childhood, so I have to write a good review. Just kidding! :) Esther’s Taco House is a prime example that you cannot make assumptions based off appearance: the set-up looks like a classic diner, where you can order hearty All-American food, but that feeling dissolves once the plate of chips and 3 different salsas(decent tasting and not outrageously spicy) are set in front of you. I had the 2 Ground Beef Tacos lunch special.($ 7… «Highway robbery» according to my manager) Hearty all right, but with a distinct south-of-border taste. Deep-fried taco shells, well seasoned ground beef, Spanish rice, and refried beans that I did not care to touch. The tasty food went down quickly and easily, but made standing up much more difficult. I suggest making this stop if you are NOT going back to work… the heaviness of the food may cause your productivity level to plummet. :) Happy Hour is also offered here!

I ordered the pork tamale — it was pretty good. I would give this a 4 star rating but we also ordered to-go items for my niece and nephew and their meals were greasy and burnt. :( They do have good chips and salsa.

Always had great meals here, compared to other Mexican restaurants around the area. Sometimes this place gets busy during dinner time. So make sure to come before the rush! Happy hour from 4 – 6. Flat screen tv’s all around the bar area. There’s this one time though, during the rush, the waiters barely came to our table. kind of irritating, but that was only once. Still would come back for the food though. I always get the plate w/Cheese enchilada, I think it’s one of the best cheese enchiladas I’ve ever had. Comes hot and the cheese is melted all the way through. When you cut it you can still see the string of cheese as you put it in your mouth. So good! Tostadas are pretty big and filling. — Good Come on Taco Tuesdays and all tacos are $ 2. Pretty good Chips n salsa always seem fresh, crispy, and cooked perfectly!

Had another good meal at Esther’s today. My brother wanted to come here for his birthday. Party of 8, they seated us right away, all at the same table — i’ve been having problems with that recently! I always get the same thing now. #4. Cheese enchilada & chicken taco combo. So good, I love it. Today my BF tried a grilled cheese sandwich with carnitas. I didn’t try it, but he said he liked it a lot. You can also get grilled cheese with carne asada. I might try that sometime. Everybody else in my family liked their food as well. I don’t know why I don’t come here more often!
