My husband and I live nearby and decided to try The Fargher Lake Inn for lunch today. First impressions: décor was okay. I liked the color scheme and the beams, but was a bit taken aback by the chairs with wheels. They really stood out when we walked in the door and gave me the impression of entering the dining room of a senior assisted-living home, not a new restaurant. I’m middle-aged, but I felt too young to be in there. Service was fast and friendly and the order arrived quickly. My husband ordered the burger and fries. I ordered the BBQ chicken and rice bowl. First off, this«bowl» was enormous. But the quantity of food inside the bowl was so small, it looked ridiculous served in it. The chicken breast was a fair size, but where I felt the dish lacked was in the serving size of the really cheap stuff — rice, beans and corn. Seriously, it was minuscule by comparison to the size of the trough it was served in. The BBQ taste was good, there just wasn’t anything _BUT_BBQ sauce flavor. I would have really liked more rice in the dish, perhaps some without so much BBQ sauce. I liked the overall taste, but I would have liked it served on a plate, maybe with more rice on the side so I could have a bite that wasn’t so drown in sauce. The menu also stated there was a bed a guacamole beneath the rice and I suppose there was(I saw a hint of green), but it had to have been painted on with a paintbrush, it was so thin. Why bother, really. I never tasted it. I just tasted BBQ sauce. I’m a Southern California native — I know guacamole, and that wasn’t it. For the price I felt my food was a disappointment. It was a «lunch size» serving, but not a lunch size price(child’s size, maybe?), and it wasn’t considered a lunch item. The way it was presented left me feeling like the chef was super stingy. Cutting corners on really cheap ingredients. I didn’t like that. My husband thought the burger was pretty good, as were the fries, but not really $ 15 worthy. Overall, I give them 3 stars, but truth be told, we probably won’t be going back. There are other restaurants that serve similar food, and we just felt overall it wasn’t all that spectacular. Disappointing, for sure. We would have loved to have a local place to patronize.

We were greeted the moment we walked in the door and felt welcomed. Friendly staff. Excellent service. Great food. I have several food allergies and the chef was kind enough to go through the entire menu with me to be sure I would have plenty of options that were allergy free. I have never had that happen before. Highly recommended!
