Nuovo is a great little Italian place right on Shrewsbury st. It’s family run and offers a very cozy atmosphere. The home made pasta and ravioli is as good as something right out of Italy.

I had been interested in coming to Nuovo for almost two years now since I first went to Via which is across the street and the decision was close between the two. Two friends and I went around 5:45pm on a Tuesday, we were immediately greeted and seated. We got the Antipasto Mista, we went with the individual size because there was a Unilocal check in offer for an appetizer but only the individual size not the sharing, that being said the portion was sufficiently large that sharing the individual size was fine. My friends ordered the Chicken Marsala with asparagus and Chicken Saltimbocca respectively. I ordered the Drunk Ziti and a Caesar Salad as pink sauce is a personal love of mine. My favourite part of the meal was the antipasto, the caesar was good by the dressing wasn’t mind blowing. Similarly the pink sauce was also not a revelation, I don’t want to mince words here though it wasn’t exceptional but by no means was it not satisfactory. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals more than I, so I think that I would be inclined to try something with a little more opportunity for them to show me their chops if I come back. The only real negative besides my food being more average than I would have hoped is our wait was a little longer than I would have expected at such a time, we waited approximately an hour and ten minutes from seating to entrée, although in that time water was refilled diligently, bread was brought out and refills offered, and our appetizers were served. All and all I had very high expectations and I still think they could be met, I’m very likely to come back to try to have that happen. Also the chef/owner came out and personally inquired if everything was to our liking which is a nice touch.

I went on New Year’s Eve. I had a reservation and was promptly seated. Excellent small rolls were delivered. I had two glasses of Valpoicella(I didn’t see any of the Tuscan reds by the glass). My meal was oysters Rockefeller, followed by a house salad, the pork Osso buco, and ending with a tiramisu(made with panettone instead of ladyfingers) and an Irish coffee. Everything was excellent. The oysters were large and fresh, the pork shank was fork-tender with a delicious sauce, the tiramisu was delightful, and the Irish coffee had a dash of Amaretto that enhanced it’s flavor. Service was excellent. The room was packed and the noise level was a bit high. Tables are close to each other but not enough to be a problem. Prices were reasonable given the level of quality.

Ok… Just ok… Service was good… filet was over cooked. Valet wandered through dining room, clearly looking for tip from patron, as he was leaving. Just average.

We had a really nice dinner at Nuovo tonight. We had a reservation, the hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. Our server, Brandon, was very friendly and attentive, but did not hover. He knew the menu and specials and made recommendations when asked. He had a great sense of humor and took great care of us! There were four of us. We let our server recommend an appetizer and went with the warm brie which was one of several specials. It was delicious! We all had salads prior to our entrees. They were fine… green salads or Caesar, no surprises there. I had the Salmone alla Griglia and it was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and it came with a medley of fresh veggies and their Ortega rice. You have to try this rice! Two others in our party had the Chicken Saltimbocca and raved about it and the forth member of our party had the Penne alla Giardiniera which was also very good. There were several great looking desserts to choose from as well as some dessert specials. I had a bite of my friends pistachio cheesecake… delicious! Parking can be tough here, but they offer complementary valet so it’s super simple. We had a great experience from start to finish and I truly hope to get back to Nuovo soon!

We found this place online. Stopped in to eat while traveling, easy off and on from interstate. We had chicken Parmesan and scallop dish, both were excellent ! Great service from Brandon too. Just too bad we live in NC and won’t be able to pop in for a meal.

Great place. Terrific menu. Friendly owners. As nice a place for a quiet dinner for two, a solo dinner at the bar, or to meet up with a group of friends.

Your review helps others learn about great local Had reservation for 6… hostess led us to the Bar… very noisy. Asked to go to dining room but were informed there was no room. So loud our group could only talk to the person next to one another. Service was good. Chicken piccata was good. But the dishes ordered with sauce were below par for an Italian restaurant. Three choices of pasta… spaghetti linguini and penne… again not much creativity there. Sauce on the spaghetti and lasagne tasted like it came from a jar… no depth and no distinctive taste… nothing special…

We were traveling between Rochester NY and Maine and spent the night in Worcester. I checked Unilocal for a good place to eat. Nuovo came up as an option. We had a excellent meal. The salad mista was very tasty, the mussels fra diablo were the best that I ever had. The sauce was like an excellent soup. The spaghetti puttanesca made me think that I was back in Italy. I think we made an excellent eating decision tonight.

Wednesday evening I was passing through Worcester and decided to stop for dinner as a solo diner. The bartender was very welcoming and my meal – Filet Napolitano – was quite delicious. The entire evening was very enjoyable. Thank you.

What an awesome place! Immediately seated at the table of my choice in the dining room… The owner of the restaurant, Aleksander came out to say hello and talk about what they do and what makes this place so special… Here you will have dishes not typical to most menus… They are not afraid to push the envelope and have impressed me with their recommendations. When fine dining…, tell them the courses and have them make the recommendations… It’s what they do… Warm rolls served with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette and parmesan… Rule of thumb… Great bread… Great meal… Now the appetizer was truly something special! A Fried fig on top of fried Goat Cheese on top of yet another slice of fried Fig served Panini style. The presentation was equally fabulous with a Balsamic Glaze and Sweet Fig Sauce. Deeeelish! Crab soup unlike any other… The texture… Flavour… Color and presentation… Next the house salad… My version after editing… Mixed Greens, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato slices, Goat Cheese topped with Italian dressing… For the main… The chef recommended the Chilean Sea Bass… Roasted Red Pepper and Crab Meat Sauce over Cheese Ravioli… Light… Fluffy and extremely flavourful… Tonight at the next table was this guy Coach Tommy Heinsohn… I’m not a sportsman but they said he’s getting inducted into the Hall of Fame for the second time… This time as a coach… He used to play for the Celtics back in the day… Cool… For dessert… The Exotic Bomba… Mango Passion Fruit Sorbet encrusted in White Chocolate! I’ve never had this and found it quite good! Top it off with a perfectly made Cappuccino and life is good! Highly recommended!

This is our new favorite restaurant! The food was amazing! The wine and cocktail list was extensive and creative. We enjoyed the dinner special that included salad, entrée and dessert for less than $ 25. Enjoy live music on Thur, Fri, Sat. The piano player made our night!

By far this is one of the Crown Jewels of Shrewsberry Street in Worcester. Tonight was the second time my wife and I have come here and this time we brought a few of our best friends along to introduce them to this place. To start off we had the figs and muscles as appetizers to share around the table plus I had to try the lemon orzo soup. The soup alone is worth a trip here because of the flavor, the chef even came out to our table and told us how each cup is made to order, you just don’t find that anywhere these days. The entrees were amazing, my wife had the chicken cordon blue and I had the pork shank osso bucco which was to die for. Fork tender the meat fell right off the bone and the sauce served with it was perfect with a little tomato and red pepper for roundness. I can’t wait to come back again soon, even if it’s just for a cup of soup. Enjoy!

Made a reservation for Father’s Day. Had never been here before but saw the extensive menu, read the wonderful reviews and went for it. We were pleasantly pleased. First we ordered one appetizer, the Fig Mascarpone, which is Filo dough stuffed with sweet fig and mascarpone cheese. It was wonderful. For our main courses, we ordered the Veal Oscar, Fettuccine Alfredo and Broccoli, Pork Osso Buco, Grilled Rib Eye Steak and Tenderloin Napoleon. Every one of them was perfect. So excited to have finally found a great restaurant in Worcester.

What is not to like about Nuovo? We stopped in for a late lunch a month ago and it was great! Service, food, ambiance… So decided we’d be back. Made dinner reservations for last night and started with a glass of wine at the bar before we were seated. The«bartender» is more a sommelier than drink server. We talked various vintages and wineries and settled on a nice bottle of 2012 Mount Veeder. Seated by the window with live piano music we had the mussels and figs for appetizers. So yummy. My wife had the salmon stuffed with artichoke and goat cheese with ravioli, while i had the italian seabass. The wait staff was attentive but in true European style, gave us lots of time between servings. The food is spectaclar — the atmosphere romantic or fun depending on what seating YOU choose and the service is fabulous. Then the bill came… Wow! So much less than I expected. We were Via regulars, but don’t think we’ll be back there as Nuovo will be our new«go to»

I decided to come here because I saw that they had class and it reminded me of my Italy trip. I had to sit at the bar because they had some type of event going on. The bar wasn’t too bad. It was clean but the seat wasn’t super comdortable. The bar attendant was really cool and extremely friendly. I had the sea bass and ravioli for dinner. The presentation wasn’t so great but the taste was spot on. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and not dry at all. I loved the taste and texture of the fish. The portion was more than enough. I was full almost haalf way through the meal. The oil dip for the bread is very addicting.

We went last Saturday, and made reservations for 5:15. We were immediately seated. The dining room had maybe had 4 other tables of diners but quickly filled up, which made it get noisy very quickly. My husband ordered the appetizer special, baked brie with fig sauce on a crustini, which we shared and was so good he almost ordered a second one. We also shared an antipasto which was wonderful and fresh also. For dinner he ordered the steak which was done perfectly and was served with mixed vegetables. I chose the chicken saltimboca which was served with cheese ravioli and was both tasty and just the right portion. We both chose to upgrade our salads to the ceasar salads and they were again fresh not overly dressed and a perfect portion. All in all it was a nice evening, we enjoyed talking with the couple at the table next to us, and convinced them to try the baked brie, which they loved too.

I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was! When my family pulled up to the restaurant, the outside was nothing special. It looked a bit bland and I was not expecting much. The inside though, was very pleasant and looked very nice. The waitress was nice and she made sure we got everything we needed. The food was excellent. I got a pork shank(cannot remember exactly what it was called) but it was fall off the bone tender and tasted great! Even the side dishes that came with it were good. I also got a plate of truffle fries and they had the right amount of truffle flavor in them. I have the flourless chocolate cake dessert sitting in my fridge right now(too stuffed to eat it at the restaurant) but I know it will be good! ^_^

I’ve been here three or four times with mixed results, but it averages out to ‘good.’ Sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse. The fish tends to be more cooked than I like, but not too bad. Recently my wife got the shrimp and lobster alfredo and it was pretty fantastic. There was a good amount of well cooked seafood to it. More importantly(and rarely) the alfredo sauce was thick, not greasy or oily, and coated the perfectly cooked pasta… perfectly. There was no giant pool of left over sauce at the end. If you’re going to get anything here give that a try. The flourless chocolate torte is also delicious. Places do it differently, here it is a thick puck of condensed dark fudge. If that is your thing you will be pleased. 5 dollar cocktails that are nice and stiff are a big plus. The waitress told me they treat 3 olives as a premium vodka, though, which I thought was odd.
