What a great place! Wanted to go Veg tonight and Belmont happened to be close by my hotel. What luck. Small corner shop. 2 tables, basically take away. 2 size tins and choose anything or everythind on the chaulk board. I couldn’t make my mind up and left it up to the fella’s discretion. So he made me a sampler. The flavors were absolutely incredible. I got the large size figuring I’d have half now and half lynch tomorrow. Well it’s about a third left. If you like Vegetarian/Vegan then you must stop here.

I drive an hour to Private Hair Studio in Millbury every 4 – 5 weeks to have my hair done with Tracie(amazing and worth it but that’s a different review!). While I’m there, we usually go for lunch or dinner afterward. We’ve been to some great places in Worcester. Anyway, since Tracie had a client after me, I was looking for something nice and vegan to grab and take home with me. That’s when I found Belmont Vegetarian Restaurant. Wow! To say that I was blown away is an understatement. The restaurant itself is quite small 2 small booths and a ledge that you could eat at) and parking can be a little tough, however, those are the ONLY downside to this wonderful place. They have about 8 freshly made dishes to choose from but if you’re a hungry vegan like me, you don’t want to have to choose only one! I love that you can’t get a sampler of a couple or all of the dishes that they offer. I had the BBQ tofu, mac & cheese, beans and«chicken», pepper«steak», quinoa and veggies and veggie rice. Outstanding. All of it. I could not pick one and say it was my favorite. It was that good. In fact, once I got to the car I opened that container to take a few bites before my long drive home. It was so good that I wanted to get out of my car and go back in to shake his hand. If you are looking for vegan comfort food, this is the place to be.

Delicious! It was my first time and chef recommended i try everything! Was nit disappointed at all! Everything tastes amazing but everythibg had its own distinct flavor. Wish i had visited this place more when i lived closer to worcester! This is primarily a take out place. Everything is vegan and it is jamacian/rastafarian themed. Its also fricken DELICIOUS

Awesome vegan Jamaican fare. I recommend getting a large plate and trying a little bit of everything because they have a great variety and all of it is great. The soy chunks were especially impressive. I’m sometimes skeptical of TVP/TSP, but the soy chunks here were really well-seasoned and delicious.

Another great meal… I think one word best describes this hidden gem… ADDICTIVE. Whenever I’m in Worcester this is a must stop for lunch. I’ve even brought meals home to my family and they loved it. Now when they know I’m heading to Worcester they ask if I’m bringing dinner home. They’ve actually asked me if I wanted to head to Worcester on a weekend just to pick up some food. And believe me, they are picky eaters but they love the food. You won’t go wrong here. Don’t be thrown off by the small location, they make up for it with BIG flavors.

Second time getting food here and also my second time having vegan food. I am definitely a die hard carnivore as all I eat is meat and vegetables(don’t do carbs besides the bread that makes my sandwich) and to be 100% honest this food is delicious. The the curry chicken and peppered steak made me believe it was meat it was incredible!!! The mac and cheese is to die for. I work at a very well respected fine dining restaurant in Worcester and it was better than any mac and cheese I’ve had there. The flavor from the nuts and soy that replaces the cheese is outstanding! The place is quaint and just enough. I hate waiting for food so it’s great that it’s all made ahead of time(I’m not saying it’s not fresh because it is)

Out of town and I trust Unilocal like no other for great food. Had a sampler of everything and zero complaints. Loved it so much I’ll be back for lunch tomorrow before I leave the area. Favorite was the Mac n Cheese

Amazing vegan food! They have a daily menu and you can order either a medium or large portion. You get a bunch of different dishes in your bowl, which is so great — a lot of flavors and variety! My boyfriend and I shared the large portion($ 14) and it was a lot of food! Delicious!

Not much to look at from the outside, but the food is always hot and fresh and the service is always great. The menu, which is listed on a chalkboard next to the ordering window, changes every day. Call ahead to see if they have your favorites. There are only a couple of tables, so I only go in there for takeout. The prices are pretty high, but even the medium is good for a couple of meals. The large could feed you for a few days but you’ll pay almost $ 20 for it. Everything is 100% vegan, but so good that even meat eaters will enjoy it.

My first visit to Belmont Vegetarian Restaurant was on foot, in a blizzard(one of the numerous Blizzards of 2015) and I must say I’d do it again, many times over. It can be easy to miss, with its inconspicuous façade on the corner by UMass Memorial. Alas, I trudged onward through the dark and the 5-foot snow banks towards its glowing sign. The place is small and no-frills, akin to the old break room I had when I worked retail, only 5 times smaller. But… aesthetics are of little concern to me when the food is this good. One glance at the menu, written on a chalkboard and accompanied by drawings of dancing vegetables, was all it took for me to forget that my feet were numb. I was star-struck by the array of tantalizing options. The guy behind the counter suggested I try some of each, while good-naturedly listening to me chatter about the monster truck rally I was en route to that evening. You could have fooled me that the«steak» is not real meat, except that it was a hundred times more delicious and flavorful. The mac and cheese is a must-have, and it’s vegan so it’s good for you right? The vegetable curry was nothing short of spectacular. Same for the collard greens. Mind you, this is the only instance in which I have ever used«collard greens» and«spectacular» in the same sentence. I’m no vegetarian, but I have, at long last, made an honest attempt to eat more healthily. It’s nice knowing that the lovely city of Worcester has a healthier option in its legion of culinary destinations. Belmont Vegetarian Restaurant, I can hardly wait to darken your doors once again, hopefully in less inclement weather.

Small space if you want to eat in, but that’s not problem for me. I take to go and eat at the park. Mac & Cheese are must!

I came here for the first time today around lunchtime, after hearing about the rave reviews on Unilocal.I love MEAT :-) Nevertheless, I don’t mind a full vegan meal from time to time. I tried the pepper steak, collard greens, mac n cheese, steamed veggies and the black beans with smoked tofu. All the flavors were delicious but not overpowering. I would have preferred the pepper steak with a little heat, so I added some scotch bonnet pepper sauce I had on hand and that brought the flavor up two-fold. My favorite dish were the black beans with tofu, because I’m not usually a fan but the preparation was spot on and converted my ill feelings toward tofu. Be sure to order their natural juices ahead of time by phone just in case the owner has to skip out for a minute. Remember people, this is a mom and pop type of joint not a McDonalds, so call ahead if you are unsure if they are open a particular day or time. I would come here again.

I was looking for a non-traditional food and found this place via Unilocal. It’s a small shop at the corner of the street. The chef is very nice and loves the food he prepares and that shows in the food when you get it. Food came out pretty quickly after I placed it. I liked everything about this place, although I would have preferred less salt in the food. The curried tofu also had too much curry powder.

A wonderful and unexpected surprise. I loved this place. Yes, it’s not located in the most glamorous part of town. Yes, it’s small. But the quality and sweet vibes of this place will resonate with you, and I’m not even talking about the reggae music playing in the background. That’s just a bonus. I stopped in yesterday on my way to Plymouth and ordered a medium plate of everything and a Snapple –it ran around $ 15. As the name suggests, this is a vegetarian restaurant. But your taste buds will not miss a beat here. The food is a testament to how amazing a creative cook can be with a vegetarian diet. Flavors of BBQ and curry and pepper steak and stews exploded from my plate. The beans and vegetables and tofu and mac and cheese were so flavorful. I loved the BBQ and curry choices, but really, everything was excellent! Unilocal has taught me to trust their ratings, even if a place looks a little sketchy from the outside. I loved my meal here, and totally had a great time, chatting with the friendly owner, looking at the Bob Marley quotes and photos on the wall, and listening to that great music. As Bob said, «You just can’t live in that negative way. Make way for the positive day».

False advertising! This restaurant is NOTOPEN. Been wanting to try this place for a while now. Wife is giving birth here at UMASS, so I figured this was my chance to give it a try at 12 pm on a Tuesday which according to their website, they should be open! NOPE! Walked up there in the rain for nothing… Way to lose a potential repeat customer before I ever even taste your food. I guess when you have such strong reviews for the food, you don’t need to open if you don’t feel like it?!? Oh well, guess I’ll go to Jim’s up the street instead for a STEAKSUB!!!

Awesome vegan restaurant! FYI the owner is from the islands in the Caribbean where «Vegetarian» means no animal products, so there is no dairy, cheese, eggs, etc. here. Vegans feel free to order with abandon… On our way from NH to NYC looking for the best rated restaurant that offers vegan fare for some vegans in our group. This place had insanely high reviews and lots of them. So we set the GPS. On first glance this is a teensy tiny corner place on a side street in a sketchy lookin neighborhood near UMass Memorial. It only has seating for 11(two tables of four and three counter seats). Steve is the owner… and the chef, and the waiter, and the bus boy, and the dishwasher … and basically does it all. That is probably the MOST amazing part about this place, because he does it all SO well! But, in the end it’s all about the food and the food was AWESOME! You don’t need to be vegan to appreciate this cooking, but you might need to like Indian-style island food & southern-style cooking. Curries, collards, barbeque, rice & beans, etc. All is incredibly flavorful, delicious and wholesome! When we arrived with five adults and six children, hungry from a couple hours on the road, Steve was a bit taken aback by us. We asked if he had much food left to which he gave a nervous laugh and said he’d have to check. Seeing that there were 11 seats and 11 of us, we figured it was meant to be! There are two sized containers($ 13.75 Lg and $ 11.25 Md — I think) that he sells and all the different menu items are written on a chalk board on the wall. You tell him all the items you want and he fits it into you chosen container. Steve is behind the window where you order and beyond him you can see the kitchen where all the magic happens. What Steve suggested is that he prepare a large container with a little taste of all the menu items for us to try and then we could order exactly what we wanted. He also makes homemade smoothies to which he adds banana, hemp seeds, kale, pear, mango, and other delicious and nutritious items. Did I mention that Steve is great? He is. By the time we left the kids had filled his chalk board with all sorts of best wishes and praise for Steve. We can’t wait til we pass thought Worcester(Wistah) again!

I am not a vegetarian and have never believed that I could be one. If I could get my vegetarian food to taste this good, I would become one. This food is delicious! The service is INCREDIBLYSLOW. Do not go there if you are in a hurry.

Oh yeah! This place is the best vegan food and Wester, hands down. We wish that parking was better but it does not stop me from going there repeatedly. They have the best vegan mac & cheese I have ever tasted. There is nothing bad on the menu, try everything with confidence.

This is a vegetarian dream. We are not vegetarian but this place has AMAZING alternatives. We just got two samplers and they were absolutely delicious and did not have us craving«meat». The curry chicken, pepper steak, and bbq chicken were delicious. I loved the mac & cheese as well. As for portion, most say large feeds 2 — not in my house. My husband would eat an entire large for himself, but as most other people, I’d eat about half a large(the medium size). Get the large though, the leftovers for the price is worth it!
