Honestly Folks, I came upon this« Unilocal» site by accident. I had googled«Scott Murphy car repairman in Wooster, Ohio» hoping to find an email address somewhere listed online for him. Much to my surprise I see this negative review for our FAVORITE mechanic written by Sy R. To Sy R. I would like to say, I am sorry that you had a bad experience in dealing with Mr. Murphy; but, that was in 2006. It is presently June 2013 when I am writing this and I have nothing, ABSOLUTELYNOTHING at all negative that I can say about Scott Murphy Master Technician. My husband and I have only lived in Wooster, Ohio, 11 years, since 2002. Since that time, we have used Mr. Murphy EXCLUSIVELY for our vehicle repairs. Mr. Murphy has always been 100% PROFESSIONAL, HONEST and FAIR in dealing with us. I can’t begin to tell you how often we have telephoned or just dropped in Mr. Murphy’s place of business and interrupted him to ask a question or express a concern we were having about one of our vehicles. Not once has Mr. Murphy ever made us feel uncomfortable by just dropping in or calling. Without any appointment, Mr. Murphy would always stop what he was doing to listen to my husband’s concerns and then take the time to share his opinion and offer assistance. Mr. Murphy never charged my husband a dime for his time or expert advice during those brief visits or phone calls. That to me is PROFESSIONALISM at its VERYBEST. Not only is Mr. Murphy a man with years of exceptional experience in his field, he also takes great pride in hiring highly skilled technicians so that you the customer have the very best resource at your disposal. If you are looking for an EXCELLENT place of business to entrust the maintenance of your vehicle, I hope that my review will help to put your mind at ease to know you needn’t look further. Thank you Mr. Scott Murphy, MASTERTECHNICIAN! Kimberly M. Wooster, Ohio

N. B: This review concerns an experience from 2005, but it annoyed me so much that I would like to post even though it’s old news at this point. I’ll throw in an extra star in case the place has improved. The short story: My car was given sloppy, incompetent, and presumptuous service, and I was charged for something they broke. The long story: A friend told me about Murphy Scott, saying that his mother always went there and liked it fine. I went and handed over my keys to Mr. Scott, who was pleasant(side note: I commented that his business had quite an impressive sounding title, to which he replied, «Well, if it’s accurate, why not advertise it?» which sounded a little smug to me). I had a brief exchange with the mechanic in the garage, who was sloppily dressed and not very smart, but I assumed he must be competent enough to do what he was given. Later, Mr. Scott called to tell me that they had determined the problem with my heater, had decided to replace all my brake pads, and also that my trunk key had snapped off in the lock. I was shocked, since they had clearly used brute force to open a lock that was set a little crookedly, but worked FINE. Then I wondered why they had opened my trunk. I assume they were looking for the specs of my car’s innards, but why did they look in the trunk first, and PURSUE that course when the trunk lock gave resistance? Not being a confrontational person, I just went along with it. Sigh. The next day, I went to collect my car with my fixed heater core, new brake pads and new trunk lock, and also to pay the bill. Good riddance; I’d soon leave for Christmas break and study-abroad, and could forget about him and the stupid lock charge. Before I left Wooster, I noticed that a panel next to the glove compartment was missing, and after a minute found the panel under the seat. Sloppy, but whatever; it was over with. Except that I had TEPID heat on the three-hour drive home. Thanks, «master technician.»
