This place just keeps getting better. You have to try the tacos with carnitas or the tacos with barbacoa, the meat is very flavorful. We went last night and I asked the server to put on one of my favorite bands Mana on the loud speaker and she was kind enough to do that. You have to try this place if you haven’t done so already.

I like this for the tacos but I got a steak and it was not as good as El Niagara. This is a casual place and I can tell it is authentic home cooking. My wife and son loved their steak tacos so I will get that next time.

Very authentic tacos and house made salsas! Asada(steak), pastor(pork) are delicious. Unfortunately, the asada steak on my husband’s dinner had a lot of fat. But overall, this restaurant is a better choice than the nearby El Niagara.

This is a clean family friendly place with attentive wait staff. I had the beef tostadas and they were delicious.

I love this place! The pastor(pork) tacos are done on a spit, like gyro. Fantastic! The only thing bad I have to say is the salsa for the chips is served now in a bottle. How the hell am I supposed to dip my chips in that?

I had lunch here for the first time today. I was surprised to find out that the al pastor is homemade so I tried it along with the lengua. They both were very good! The spit roasted al pastor had a great char and the lengua was tender. Their chorizo is also homemade but that will have to wait till my next visit.

Everything was fresh, everything lacked flavor. The chicken in the burrito«tasted like chicken soup». So said the woman of my dreams. The salsas had very little flavor, but plenty of heat. The rice was bland. I love chicken tamales. This one was downright boring. Fast service.

Just not very good. Ordered the chicken burrito. The chicken is the «slow-cooked“shredded chicken which I am not a fan of. Not very much flavor and VERY soggy! They really need to drain it before adding it to the tortilla. My kids usually LOVE Mexican food and none of them would eat this. We brought home the leftovers and they wouldn’t touch it for lunch the next day either. The Refried beans were good but the rice was flavorless. This restaurant is cafeteria style and very dumpy and the waitresses are not friendly at all. The waitress also, didn’t even bring us each our food and drinks, she put them all on the table and we had to «pass them down» to one another. We won’t be coming back. Spent about $ 60 on 4 chicken burrito meals and 5 drinks. Not worth it at all. :(

This place was great! The waitress and the manager, maybe he was the owner, were very attentive. I got a chimichanga with tinga chicken. It was so flavorful and large. I also got a tamale. That was perfect too. I’m so glad we tried this place out. I’m shocked at the bad reviews. Maybe they are trying to improve from the poor service reviews.

Food is decent, but the service ruins the experience — just lousy. Overall kind of pricy, won’t be going back!

Very disappointed with the fajita meal. No flavor, three times more veggies then meat. They forgot the salad along with giving the wrong shells. We also ordered the shrimp and garlic dinner. No garlic flavor and beans were dried out. Payed way too much for this!

The food is never good unless the main chef is there, which you’re lucky if he’s there. Otherwise what you’ll get is food that you wish you didn’t buy or eat. The main chef really makes the food well, though.

First-visit review: Waiter took care of others who came in after us — weird. Nice enough guy though, once he came over. Nice selection of authentic and what I would call Americanized Mexican foods, though I couldn’t put my finger on anything particularly unauthentic. You can get y’er lingue, tripe and what-not if you really, really want it, but not if you’re sitting by me! … JK. Had a steak burrito. Having had this in dozens of different places it’s a good go-to for comparison sake. Plenty of flavorful steak, nice fixin’s inside including avocado, which I wouldn’t have ordered, and it’s often«extra» elsewhere, but it was appreciated. Beans and rice on the side were … unremarkable. On the other hand, it’s beans and rice, does it have to be good enough to feature in a TV show or something? Friend had the same order, liked the beans and rice even less than I did. Both of us saved half to take home as the portions were generous enough to do so. Pay at the cashier. In all a good option for basic Mexican food. If you want fancier there are a couple of places in Woodstock that do that, but this is a fine choice for lunch or dinner(I’m guessing breakfast too, but forgot to check).

The food is better quality but it’s still missing something. Maybe they need better employees.

The food was good and there was plenty of it. The prices were typical. The staff was really nice, and the place want overly busy for lunch time on a Sunday.

The good: Delicious food. The bad: horrible service. The waitress came back and checked on me one time. After that, she ignored me and put closing duties as first priority. I had to call her over to ask for a refill. I’m on a budget and live paycheck to paycheck, so every penny counts. I added my order up and it should have been around $ 8. And they don’t give you a check. They just add it up at the register and don’t tell you what you’re paying for, so my $ 8 order somehow turned out to be $ 11 and change, close to $ 12. After I brought it up, she said that sour cream on the side is 70 cents, when it’s listed at .33. According to her, .33 is to add it on, but it’s extra to have it on the side. I told her that if I had known that, I would have just gotten it on the taco. Refills are .50, also not listed on the menu. I felt robbed leaving because they found ways to charge me almost 3 extra dollars. They also give you chips and salsa when you first sit down. I wonder if they charge you for that, even if you didn’t order it. The door says they’re open until 10. They locked the door, turned off the tv, and started putting chairs on the tables around me at 9:30. I felt rushed out. The food is great, but that’s not enough to keep me as a patron. Good luck when you become another episode of Restaurant Impossible.

Horrible service and burnt steak. We were ignored most of the meal and when we weren’t being ignored the server was extremely rude. Our food all came out at different times so we had to eat in shifts, which was not enjoyable. I would never spend another dime here. They also got parts of our order wrong and over charged us. When I brought it to the severs attention she laughed about it and walked away. We even attempted to be friendly and conversational with our waitress in the hopes that it would change her attitude. Honestly, we should have just gotten up and left after she practically threw our menus at us when we were first seated. It was only downhill from there. She mean-mugged us throughout the meal, laughed when we had complaints, and when my boyfriend went to ask for boxes at the end of the meal, she rolled her eyes and said something along the lines of «You really need that many boxes?» She never asked if our food was ok or if there was anything she could do to improve our experience there. She was actually downright hostile the entire time. I noticed another reviewer commented that he got into a fight with a waitress because she was being disrespectful. I would bet money that this is the same woman. She is going to lose this place a lot of business.

So glad to have a new restaurant on the square. They appear to be going through some opening pains; Doors weren’t open at 9 when they should have been for breakfast. So we went back for lunch which was really good. The prices are low($ 4.99 for a burrito) and the food is very flavorful. My wife and I both had the steak burrito, the waitress wasn’t sure what was in them and it doesn’t say on the menu. For the record it is your ordered meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, re-fried beans and a slice of avocado. The steak is very flavorful and the wife liked how it was sliced in small pieces. Each came with a small salad, beans and rice. Our daughter had the quesadilla, which was loaded with cheese and was good, but who can’t make a quesadilla? The chef/cook brought some braised pork shoulder to our table to try which was wonderful. I’ll get it next time i come in. The interior of the restaurant has no changes from the way it was when it was ABC for a few weeks. The tables are a little close together. If you are eating in you seat yourself and they wait on you, but there is no signage to let you know this, so it is a little awkward when you come in because they have a counter and cash register at the back. The service is nice and friendly but she seemed new to the service industry, which is fine as everyone has to start somewhere, but drinks should be served in or with glasses of ice not just cans, you should know the menu like the back of your hand, and the entire tables food should be brought at the same time. Taqueria La Placita has potential if they get through some of these opening pains, I’ll definitely be going back to try more of that pork shoulder. One side note, in the bathroom there is a sign saying not to put toilet paper in the toilet bowl??? My wife confirmed that the ladies had the same note. I’m hoping it is a translation problem and mean paper towels, but i can’t imagine they mean that, unless they are having some real plumbing problems, which if that is the case, get them fixed ASAP.
