My wife and I decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the filming of the Groundhog Day movie. We traveled to Woodstock, IL(location where the movie was filmed) and stay in the Royal Victorian Manor(Cherry St. Inn in the movie). We feel lucky to have spent Groundhog day with the very welcoming people of Woodstock. Our stay at the RVM could not have been better! The Martins(owners and hosts) were great! We immediately felt at home. Our room was great, the facilities were clean and amenities were completely updated. We highly recommend this B&B.

This quaint bed and breakfast was used in the«Groundhog Day» Movie. The new owners completely renovated the home and gardens. Spend a quite afternoon on the large wrap around deck or wandering through the gardens. The home is available for event rentals also. Read our full review, see pictures and video of the B&B here

Remember the movie Groundhog Day? This is the house that was called the Cherry St. Inn where Bill Murray stayed in the movie. Though, I do believe the indoor scenes were filmed somewhere else. Blocks away is Woodstock Square where the scenes of the movie were filmed where Phil the groundhog either sees his shadow or not on groundhog day. Hosted by a very warm couple, Everton Martin and Karla Stewart-Martin, I have never felt more at home sharing someone else’s quarters. There are 5 suites, all very nice with private baths. And, of course, every room has a copy of the DVD Groundhog Day. In the kitchen, the coffeemaker turns on automatically at 7am, in case you want your morning java and a homemade cookie before breakfast. Breakfast is at 9am and they will accomodate vegetarians by leaving ham, etc. out of your omelet. Just let ‘em know. The omelet was outstanding, I must say, and I was served 4 sausage patties! I was pleasantly stuffed!!!(and to you who dabble in cooking, you WILL want this kitchen!!!) This is a perfect couples weekend getaway, whether just two of you or book a few rooms and get a group together. And, it’s well worth the $ 125 – 175 price of admission. And, so you don’t have to fight traffic, Woodstock is just over an hour Metra ride and you can walk to the Manor, restaurants, bars and I’m sure a barber shop.
