I came here for a wax and pedicure. Monica does it all and she is just magical! She’s so sweet and gentle and pays attention to detail… a real professional. Fernando is very welcoming and social. He offered me scrumptious Belgian chocolates and paired it with a lovely red wine. The salon itself is beautiful inside. I can tell that Fernando takes great care in picking out the best décor pieces for the salon, giving it a very warm yet sexy ambiance. Even the music is awesome; they play everything from house music to Motown! I highly recommend you stop in. It’s a little gem in Woodside!

Best Salon in town! If you are looking for quality this is the place to come. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I’ve been to many salons in woodside and hands down this is the best one. I love my new look!

Went their today cause the hair salon in Queens Blvd called BONJOUR European have a website with prices for kid’s haircut, once I arrived, I was being kicked out. I’ll write my review under it’s salon. So it was 11a. m & around Sunnyside the other hair salon were closed. I ended up walking to skillman to Fernando’s & what a difference of atmosphere & kindness. My daughter has tight Curly hair, long & in need of a cut. My daughter complain of headaches & I started to notice her hair; frizzy, dry– since the last haircut she had in POSH HAIR SALON located in 48street & 47 ave was horrible Today, at Fernando’s, I got the style of hair I wanted & ask for. The guy was sweet letting me give him the hair products she’s been using, at the age of 2 (Ouidad) & with those awesome comments he gave me of my daughters hair. Like a previous review wrote, No pictures of hair style on the windows, great relaxing music, super clean & well taken care of. At the end, my daughter looked GORGEOUSSS.

I moved to the neighborhood one year ago and used to walk by this place confused as to what it was since it didn’t look like a normal hair salon – you know those tacky salons with random pictures of haircut models? Not this place!
This place is classy, tasteful and exquisite. Classic inspirational idols of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe with smooth jazz music in the background. It almost feels like you enter their home!
Definitely an amazing atmosphere for high quality hair cuts and styling. I have been twice already and I refuse to go anywhere else with my hair. I have never felt so safe and so happy before with any hairstylist until I came to Fernandos.

I’ve been coming here for half a year now. Cash only though. When I first came here, I was immediately welcomed. They make you feel like family and want to make sure you get what you want. They’re all super sweet and friendly. They treat you with care to make sure that you’re happy with what you get. I have a problem with articulating what I want, so I’ll sometimes take pictures and they always make sure I get what I want. I come here to get my hair cut, roots and eyebrows dyed/​done, and blow outs. I always come back for a job well done and friendly customer service :)

I was searching for a decent hair cut in Sunnyside, and I decided to try Fernando’s. I had a TERRIBLE hair cut from a different salon in Sunnyside, and I needed serious help! When I entered the salon, I was impressed by the warm, energetic atmosphere. I explained to Fernando what I wanted, and showed him a photo. Even though my hair was in serious disrepair (from the previous haircut at the other salon) he was able to do exactly what I asked. My hair looks great, I’ve received a ton of compliments! Needless to say, I will be returning to Fernando’s for every hair cut. The entire staff was friendly and professional –Angel was a sweetie– and the price was reasonable. Thanks Fernando! It took me months to calm down and finally write this review. I’ve gone to many salons over the years and usually get a similar style. I show a photo and I get the hair cut… no problem. This time I thought I’d give this place a try. It was close to home and wanted to try something in our neighborhood. The person that cut my hair didn’t speak English. That was the first red flag. He agreed to the style and started working on it. The second red flag was with the workers offering another customer wine… do they have a liquor license for a hair salon? I wasn’t offered any. But other customers after were also offered. The third red flag was with my knowledge of Spanish, I asked the girl translating to make sure my hair looks like the photo because it wasn’t looking like it. He told her that my hair can’t be styled like the photo! Mind you, he said yes to the style. I’ve had the same style for years and this one person states it’s not possible? I told him that I’ve done this style many times and it is possible. At first my hair looked like a 60 year old hair… I’m in my early 30’s…I was getting flustered and the poor girl knew it so she explained the style of hair. He was older too so maybe he’s used to styling older women’s hair or maybe he was stuck in thinking my hair can’t go a certain way because of the thickness so he started thinning my hair from the top!!! If you know what this means, you know you’ll end up with a bird’s nest hair do with tiny hairs sticking out of your hair on top. That was the final straw. Who does that!!! For months I had to put so much products in my hair just to weigh down the half inch hair sticking out of my head. Unbelievable. If you want a modern hair do and you’re young don’t go here. If you want the classic older women’s hair do then go ahead. I’m very disappointed and even my husband can’t go in after what happened to me.

I’ve had a lot of haircuts. I’ve paid of lot of money. This is where I go from now on and I can’t believe it’s around the corner from where I live.
Made an appointment for a blowout and walked in half an hour later with movie star hair. Got a haircut a month ago and I literally squealed (I’m not a squealer, people) when he was done.

THIS is what a salon is supposed to look & feel like. Came to Fernando’s for a pedicure and was blown away with the service and quality of work. If you live in the neighborhood or are just passing through, come in and let them pamper you a bit. You deserve it.

The best salon in Queens for great people, fun, laughter, music… oh ya… and hair cuts! Fernando is a star. Bar none.

So my preferred place of hair sexin-​up is Graceland, but alas, I can not afford it. So I Unilocal places nearby and huzzah! Fernando’s pops up. I had heard good things about him before and it turns out it’s a ten minute walk from me. I literally made my appointment 15 min from when I called since he had a cancellation.
Fernando is a very warm, talented hair stylist. The only reason I won’t give this place 5 stars is because he left some very short hairs on my bangs. Nothing personal, most hair dressers tend to do that. But he really does beautiful work, and I paid about 40 bucks since I didn’t style it. Too hot.
All in all, will def go again while my finances are tight. Come here if you’d like a very charismatic latin man to make you look and feel pretty.

Fernando and his crew are top notch. I’d give 6 stars if I could. I used to pay a lot more to get a haircut that wasn’t as good as he or any of his staff gives. Excellent atmosphere. Much attention to detail and you can tell that they care which is rare these days. You will not be disappointed.

Just went to Fernando’s for the first time. I love the way they did my hair!
I walked in this afternoon (it is Sunday) asked to get the next possible appointment for a hair cut– which was 45 mins later. Fernando was great at listening to what I wanted. I usually don’t like the after cut styling, but he is a great job. Very happy will be returning.
My wash, cut and styling was $ 60, but I think it was worth it.
The ambiance of the place was comfortable and classy.

Best hair cuts and color ever!!! Tiger is amazing. I am now traveiling a min of 2 hrs. round trip just so I can keep getting my hair done by him. He is truly an artist! Also Fernando and Angel are great too! You have to try this place!

I need a trim… bad. For those that read my review about me looking like Joan Jett, you’ll agree it was time to cut.
I stumble upon Fernandos and step in. I’m greeted with big smiles and warm hellos. I get settled and get my hair washed. Diana chats me up and is super nice. Tiger asks me what I wanted and I just said HELP! Ha so he did.
It was a little pricey for what I wanted done, but I will go back hopefully with more direction on my next cut.
$ 60 for «long hair» is a bit steep for a small shop in Woodside.
