Placed and order for delivery using Grub Hub and got a delivery estimate for 7:00 — 7:15. Order was placed at 6:20 and when 7:34 hit and our food still haven’t arrived I called them. I get put on hold while they tend to other customers orders, I heard it over the phone. Finally asks me again for my name and address for the fourth time. Long behold«oh, so sorry we forgot to make your food» «we make it now and get it out right away». After an hour of waiting, money taken straight out of my account right away but yet they forgot to make my food. I would give this place negative stars if I could. Worst experience ever. Now I’m left going to work grabbing snacks because I never got my dinner. Horrible.

Horrible customer service. They didn’t send an item. I called to let them know as soon as I received my order that it was missing and they said they would send it. An hour later I called back and they said that the packer said he included it so they weren’t going to send it or credit me. Thieves. Never again.

It’s a small, plain restaurant. Seems like it’s mostly for take out/delivery. The food was really good though. Friend had the crispy duck and it was one of the best I’ve had actually! Who would’ve though? The basic dishes like pad thai was good as well. Cheap prices, good food. Not pretty on the eyes but we knew that going in.

Loved the peanut dressing salad! Tom yum soup is great and the shrimp pad Thai is perfectly delicious. Spring rolls were good as well.

As far as Thai food in New York is concerned, Esan is as good as it gets! My friend and I stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner last night, and everything was delicious. We shared orders of the spring rolls, the papaya salad, and the tofu Pad Thai. The spring rolls, wrapped in a light rice film, were filled with tofu, cucumber, and carrot, and accompanied by a flavorful dipping sauce. The papaya salad was a tad spicy– just like it should be– and filled with fresh garlic. And the Pad Thai was perfectly-prepared, and tasty at that! I highly recommend Esan if you are in the mood for solid Thai food.

This is a great new Thai place in the neighborhood. The food is always delivered fast and consistently good and hot upon arrival. They are good at accommodating the level of spiciness. We used to order from a place close by but have made the switch and are not looking back. I also love that they don’t use the baby corn in the entrees. It’s a small detail but a good one. :)

The red curry mock duck and spicy noodle soup with mock dock are amazing! Both are rich and spicy and hit the spot when a Thai craving comes along. We’ve ordered quite a bit from Esan and have never been disappointed. The appetizers are fantastic and all the main dishes we’ve had are incredibly satisfying. The delivery is fast and this is always appreciated. We’ll keep ordering from Esan!

I’m sooo happy Thai Malay closed and Esan opened in its place. I had the pad thai lunch special a while back and it was pretty good, especially for the price. I ordered dinner the other night and was glad I did. The summer rolls were great. I wish they were larger because I’m summer-roll-greedy and they were so tasty. I liked that they were sliced into small bites. I could have eaten another order, no problem. I also got the chicken pad kra praow and my stomach did a little happy dance. The veggies were crunchy in a good way and the flavor was yummy. The chicken was fresh-tasting and while there was some oil, it wasn’t greasy. I couldn’t wait to have the leftovers the next day. Looks like this will be my go-to for Thai, especially since it’s so close and the prices are about the same as other places nearby. Yay!

This place makes me happy, and I’m extremely hard to please. They consistently put out delicious food, and are easily the best Thai place in Sunnyside/Woodside. The calamari is fantastic, the fried rice is insanely good and the rard na is my favorite. Do yourself a favor, and try them. You will be a fan!

This place easily outshines any other Thai restaurants in Sunnyside, and Woodside for that matter. Everything is delicious. And what really amazes me is how consistent they are for a neighborhood place. I order a lot, and not one time have I had something questionable. Thank you guys. Tony Jaa would be proud.

I ordered for delivery and it came quick. I got the pineapple fried rice with chicken and vegetable spring roll. For the price and the portion they gave was enough to share so I was very happy. I will be ordering here again.

I’m jealous! Why can’t this place be a little closer to my apartment! Besides all the standard thai fare, this place has excellent esan-style dishes. We had the moo ping, papaya salad, esan sirloin steak, and sticky rice. It was all delicious! The service was also very fast and friendly. It’s a small place so most will probably prefer pickup or delivery, but I kind of liked the quaint atmosphere. I see more trips to Sunnyside in my future.

I’ve ordered from here a couple of times and usually get the pad see ew or the chicken sautéed garlic pepper on rice. Both are so yummy. It had really good flavor and it is not greasy or oily. I also like that they use an assortment of veggies(broccoli, carrots, bok choy, string beans) that comes with the sautéed garlic pepper. I plan on trying some of their other dishes, such as curry. I can’t wait!

I’m always hesitant to give 5 stars because I’ve had better meals at some point or another, and I feel like I ought to have tried more of the dishes, but it would be unfair not to reward Esan Thai, which has quickly become my go-to Thai in the neighborhood. I live fairly close by, so it is not AS much of a feat that my food arrives so quickly and piping hot, but regardless, it tastes as if it came off the burner and straight onto the delivery bike. The spring rolls are still crispy and I didn’t even eat them first — that’s how fast the food got here. The spring rolls were good, as were the wontons, but not AS good as the chicken curry puffs. Those were polished off with a quickness. I also recommend the papaya salad. I would rank their papaya salad just below(maybe as good as?) Zabb Elee’s and miles above anybody else’s. It’s got a great kick to it, Esan style. Haven’t tried the larb yet, but I suspect it’s delicious. I’m a big fan of the noodle soup, which has a broth to open the sinuses and the palate. It’s sour and spicy and enough for 2 meals minimum. I also hugely recommend the mango/coconut sticky rice dessert. Nothing complicated, but you won’t regret it I promise. I don’t really recommend the massaman curry I ordered once. It wasn’t bad at all, just not the strong suit of the restaurant. I assume from the name that the chef specializes in Esan/Lao region cuisine and the curry’s not from that region. You should really give this place a chance. Dee Thai’s doing just fine without you, and Sripaphai won’t deliver OR take credit cards.

This place used to be Thai Malay. It has since improved a good notch or two. The food is tasty, and they have real veggies in their dishes(chinese broccoli, bok choy, etc.) unlike other Thai restos that call slivered bell pepper and carrots veggies. AND, you can order extra veggie for a charge, even on Seamless. This is the place for vegetarians — you have veggie, tofu, and«mock duck»(seitan) options. Right there, you beat every other thai place in town. And delivery? Sometimes it’s actually 15 minutes from Seamless to door. Seriously. Good prices too.

Today I ordered the Chive pancake, it was cooked perfectly. It came with a pretty tasty sauce too. I also had the Crab Rangoon, which was pretty good. With it, I had a Esan Fried rice, with chicken which was yummy too. The Ice teas were pretty refreshing as well.

I really want to like this place. I love the flexibility on the menu, and the food us great. This review is really based on delivery. I don’t do take out often, the 2 times I gave ordered I’ve had to call after an hour. Ok on a Friday Saturday. But at 7 on a Wednesday, I don’t get it. I’ve called and they keep telling me it’s on the way. And I gave waited a fair bit. I think if you are eating in you will have a different experience. Really the food is great. Look forward to the restaurant getting their delivery together.

Sunnyside /Woodside needs more decent restaurants! I’m a big fan of Thai cuisine, and last night tried Esan Thai for the first time. I can only comment on delivery which was pretty amazing.(It was a Monday night, really fast. I’ll have to try it again on the weekend when it may take longer) I ordered the vegetable spring rolls… very good, crisp and full of wonderful flavors. The dipping sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and not too sweet which is usually the case. I followed it up with the crispy duck salad, again really good and the salty crispy sliced duck(not greasy at all, it was roasted) was perfectly matched with the other ingredients: tomato, red onion, pineapple, cilantro and a light a tart chili lime sauce. So far I’m a fan!
