Donato’s seems to get a bad rap on Unilocal, but it’s actually really good. Decent, basic Italian food, nice staff, and sitting outside on a nice afternoon sipping a Peroni and eating a fresh mozzarella and tomato salad is actually, not surprisingly, pretty amazing. Pizza by the slice is great, the grandma pie is delicious, good garlic knots, and they’ll sell you a pint of Italian ice. A PINT. Yeah.

They have stepped up their game! When I first moved to the area, I was not impressed but decided to give it another try. Delicious slices, huge flavorful salads, and tasty pastas will keep me coming back. Also, I find the staff to be warm and friendly. Great for take out or you can enjoy their sidewalk seating on a beautiful day.

Maybe if you’re eating a meal in the restaurant it’s okay but their pizza is awful. Whatever cheap flour they’re using makes the crust like cardboard. Don’t even try to freeze it if you have leftovers, it falls apart. The sauce has no flavor and the mozzeralla is just commercial whey… tasteless. Any additions are skimpy. Better to sauté your own additions and throw them on then pay for additions at $ 2.00 each. Still the bottom line is the pizza has no taste.

I always order from this place off of Seamless when I’m in Astoria, so I can’t really speak to the ambiance of the restaurant, or the place itself. That being said, their vodka sauce alone warrants a positive review. It might just be my favorite penne alla vodka in the entire damn world. Delivery is s-l-o-w though, so plan accordingly. Still worth it.

Delightfully anachronistic. Solid neighborhood joint with old school Italian food(think lasagna, pizza, chicken marsala etc). No pretension, good service, family friendly.

The last few times I ordered food it’s been awful. They used to be good. Ordered a chicken dish, and it’s drenched in sauce, almost like a thin soup. Chicken was rubbery and had a bad taste. Only bc I have surgery tomorrow and this is my last meal for 12 hours I managed to eat almost half of it. I said to myself«have one more piece» took a bite and decided I was done. They also charged me $ 3 for delivery or some kind of charge. I live 1 block and 1 avenue away. Last time I’ll order from there, really was absolutely terrible.

We were delivered fresh and pretty solid mozzarella sticks with marinara, pepperoni rolls, and garlic knots courtesy of the Fooji(Seamless/How To Be Single) promo. Driver called when he arrived and was polite, patient, and appreciative.

I HIGHLY recommend this placed based on the great quality of food/taste, great service and atmosphere. I have been coming here for many years with my family and it never disappoints. The waiters are always attentive and courteous; they make you feel at home. Needless to say that the owners are always around and always making sure you are taken care of. I highly recommend the seafood combination dish; it taste great and is a generous size. It reminds me of a restaurant I had seafood pasta in Venice, but better!

Would give ZERO stars if possible… I have never been spoken too or treated in such a way just for ordering food. I’ve ordered from the place in the last and didn’t have an issue until this last time. Ordered food through grub hub paid for on my credit card. Ended up waiting over 2 hours with no food. I even called several times and each time the guy answering the phone couldn’t be bothered saying it would be there in a few minutes. After hearing that several times I called one last time after waiting almost 3 hours, to ask for a status. The guy then told me it was already delivered. Then argued and cursed at me saying someone I live has the food. I then asked for a refund. He told that’s not how it works. I’ve since filed a complaint with grub hub. But this absolutely terrible terrible customer service. I will never order from there again and will tell everyone how they do business.

This is neighborhood Italian restaurant and it was recommended by my neighbors. The owner truly cares for his establishment and is very kind man but I was truly disappointed. I ordered fried calamari, baked ziti and wine. Waiter was not attentive whoever brought the calamari just grow the plate on the table. Calamari weren’t done well they were chewy and not cooked well. I end up returning them. Baked ziti were OK. Bread and butter were served after main course was served and asked for it. There were six tables with patrons but didn’t seem that staff can be attentive. I really don’t think I’ll return there. Here is how I rate my experience: 1.Service 1 2.Food presentation 1 3.Food preparation 1.5

This place was something and now is nothing. Food is old and they have no business. It takes forever to get you food from the kitchen. Maybe a slice a pizza is good? Good luck!

Stay away from the Primavera Pizza! I ordered it, thinking I would receive a normal veggie pizza, but what arrived was: a decent crust, topped with little sauce and even less cheese, and sauteed veggies literally thrown on top! And, the veggies? Carrots, zucchini, and tons of bell peppers. Who puts carrots on a pizza?! Thumbs down.

This place is more than pizza. I get their linguine with vodka sauce it is pretty amazing. Super tasty and rich in cream and flavor. The bread is a nice touch. The fried calamari was soggy but still good. The second time I ordered here they mixed up my linguine with penne, but I mean I didn’t even realize it until 85 percent of the food was gone. I was kinda sleep but it was still delicious enough for me to devour most of it before realizing haha. It is a pretty good deal for its location, woodside is a very low key area and it is great to see good restuarants maintaining it’s presence here.

I’ve been coming here more often since my last review and finally got to try their pizzas. For one, their pizzas definitely hit the spot, no doubt about it. I can rave about their Margarita Pizza all day because it is probably the most delicious pizza you’ll ever have. Garlic knots have kind of fell off in taste, and I don’t feel that spark I felt when I was in the 6th grade. I only come here for their pizzas, but the only complain I have about them is how they operate – its odd. I can’t really tell if they mostly want to be seen as a restaurant or as a pizza place, but I do think they’re a bit smug about their popularity. They hardly sell their pizza by slices. Granted, they’re quality pizzas, but if you have a small appetite you’re not going to finish a medium pizza pie(which is the case for most of their pizzas, especially the margerita). Also, they’re a bit difficult to deal with and they’re not exactly very accomodating. Other than their customer service, I enjoy their pizza and it’s one of Woodside’s secret gems.
