Confexion

So we had to give this place a try even though we are semi trying to eat healthy. My fiancé was leaving 24 hour fitness and asked if I wanted anything on her way home, so of course I mention Confexion. We couldn’t decide on anything so we decided to go with a little of everything:
PASSION FRUIT BRIOSHE CRONUT — The passion fruit flavor was strong and I love that! It was my first time trying a cronut and I wasn’t a huge fan of crunchy texture. The passion fruit flavor was great though.
CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE — The cupcakes were on point! The frosting was good and the cake itself was pretty good. This one was probably my least favorite out of the cupcakes.
BACON COOKIE — The cookie was average to me. I’m a huge bacon person and I couldn’t really get the bacon taste out of this cookie. It had a very minimal bacon flavor but it was decent.
BACON BROWNIE — This brownie was AMAZING! nice perfectly baked brownie (I like it a little moist and gummy and it was on point) with so many bacon chips sprinkled on top! The bacon was strong too. This was the perfect blend of sweet and savory all wrapped up into one treat.
RED VELVET CUPCAKE — This cupcake was a little better than the double chocolate one. The cream on top was amazing and the red velvet cake was pretty good. Not my fav but better than the chocolate.
CHEESECAKE BRIOSHE CRONUT — Again, not a fan of the cronut and I didn’t really like the cheesecake (cream) filling on the inside. My fiancé loved this one though.
CARAMEL ALMOND MACCHIATO CUPCAKE — Last but not least, my favorite out of all the treats, this cupcake. Once I took a bite of this cupcake my taste buds did a backflip. All these thoughts and questions came out and it was like I started interrogating my fiancé lol. What is this? What’s in it? Who recommended this? How did you know about this one? This was the only cupcake with a filling inside and I think it was caramel. I think this needs to be the standard for cupcakes because this one was AMAZING! def recommend it!
Overall, this place is solid and deserves a chance. I’ll be back or have her bring back a few more sweets to try and also bring home another caramel almond cupcake. No more cronuts for me.

I am actually quite disappointed because I can’t award 5 stars. Yes, 4 stars is still good, but I almost gave it 3 stars. I just can’t bring myself to do that, though. I have been a huge fan of this cupcakery since its beginnings in Pasadena, through their SEVERAL winnings on Cupcake Wars, to their name change from Wonderland Cupcakes to this current name of Confexion, and now the opening of this Woodland Hills location. I’d say they are a success… and deservedly so. So why my struggles with the awarding of stars?
When my NY daughter came for a visit over Thanksgiving, we walked around the newly opened Village shops and sauntered into Confexion. We bought 6 very appealing and appetizing looking cupcakes, along with one chocolate chunk toffee cookie. I saw that they had a large assortment of cookies, brownies, even cannoli, and some interesting brioche donutty thing (haven’t ever seen that before… anywhere) in addition to their cupcakes.
So, here’s the lowdown. While the cupcakes were definitely fresh, I was so disappointed that the flavors weren’t better. The ingredients sounded great, but in reality, they just fell flat. Having watched Ina Garten many times, and having baked plenty myself, I am willing to bet they had NO SALT in them, so the flavors didn’t «pop.» They were just sweet, but with salt, the sweetness would have kicked into high gear and gone into a different dimension. These just didn’t. Ironically, I don’t remember them being like this at their Pasadena store front. Did they change their recipe, did they just forget? I don’t know.
What was truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuly outstanding was that one chocolate chunk toffee cookie we purchased. OMG. That was perfect. Thick, ultra moist, with the salt that kicked it into high gear. Terrific.
Ironically, when I go back, and I know I will, it will be for their cookies. I might try their brownies, too… but I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting anymore cupcakes without a conversation first with the store owner or manager to discuss my issues with them.

This place is about a 4.5 star affair…
For the record, I’ve eaten hundreds of different cannoli in my lifetime.
Their CANNOLO is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye with very smooth mascarpone cheese and a sliced candied dark cherry protruding from the ends. A fair dusting of powdered sugar ended up more on my black slick jacket than in my mouth as we walked and I ate. Shock-​HER!
The cream is tasty and it is less common to see mascarpone cheese where ricotta is the regular choice at most Italian bakeries. It isn’t too sweet and has a shell that may be a bit too thin and delicate but tastes nice. I prefer something which is a much more cookie-​like and gives the pastry a bit of stability. But to each their own…
I believe this Village section was only recently completed and it was nice to «sniff in» here in addition to EMC Seafood (I’ll write that review soon).

The best thing about this place is their cupcakes. I had a few of their cupcakes while visiting a Robbins brothers down the street. They were free and I helped myself to more than one. Silky and smooth, they tasted similar to Sprinkles cupcakes. And Sprinkles, you know, is the gold standard for all cupcakes. This shouldn’t surprise you, as they have won the cupcake wars twice already. So delish!
Visiting their shop in the village, I was excited to once again try their cupcakes. We walked in, saw their cupcakes, and also heard an employee talking about how good their Cronuts were. Actually they’re called something else since they are made with Brioche bread. In one fell swoop, I decided to order those instead. Also my fiancé decided to steer off the path and order their delectable looking brownies.
This is where it took a left turn into not-​so-​great. The brownie was crunchy and hard. Fairly dry and no longer moist, it tasted like an old Brownie that had been sitting in the display counter for several days. I bit into the donut, and it didn’t taste like anything but a donut. Nothing spectacular, nothing different, I think I’d rather have a Randy’s. I wouldn’t have minded however, but the price for these two items were steep, even more expensive than the cupcakes themselves at four dollars apiece! Compare that to a Randy’s donut at $ 1.35!
So, make sure you get what they’re good at their cupcakes. Those are yummy and I think I’ll come back for those next time.

Finally Confexion Cupcakes in the valley, perfect timing during the holidays. Love the new location — bigger space, ample selections and more calories to ruin that diet.
It’s located inside «The Village» in Topanga Westfield Mall and situated near JOEY’s restaurant which is an ideal spot. The new place looks charming and chic. All their traditional offerings, including some new holiday cupcakes on display today. My favorite here are the almond raspberry champagne, black/​white, the vixen and champ which are all excellent choices.
Surprisingly they make cronuts and cookies as well which I did not know. I was immediately attracted to the Kentucky bourbon apple-​pecan and maple bacon cronuts. Just their mere presence had me at hello, complete with mouthwatering expression. To hard to resist and pass up, I got both.
The maple bacon was amazing. Perfectly crisp on outside and light airy inside. Flavor profile was off the charts — it was like eating donut and churros in one. Lots of bacon bits to compliment the rich maple glaze, so bomb!
OMG! The Kentucky bourbon apple pecan cupcake was amazing. The crisp exterior and sweet custard filling was surprisingly good. If pecan-​apple pie, sticky bun and crème brûlée had a Ménage à trois, their offspring would be this! Oh by the way… it’s infused with bourbon and plenty of it. Adult donut with adult price tag of $ 5 which seems steep, but it’s huge, heavy and worth every penny, including 1000 calories (base on my calculations). Who cares it’s the holiday? Better yet, share the calories with your significant other or friend, especially those who seem to always look good and can eat anything without getting fat.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re shopping in the area! Make sure to leave your diet back home.

I love this place! I think they have the best cupcakes in Pasadena, and possibly Los Angeles. The frosting is always the perfect balance of sweetness, and the cake is never dry. I still haven’t tried anything other than the cupcakes, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I will be back soon!

12÷04÷15: Very friendly. They are having a deal. Buy a pastry and hot cocoa for $ 5.00. I’m not sure if it’s a deal though but in any case. I am very picky when it comes to cupcakes. The cupcakes are good but I’ve had better elsewhere. We got here in the evening so there wasn’t much a variety. The hot cocoa was good and the Cannoli was pretty good. The prices here is more than most and I just thought it was ok. I think they can do better with the branding though. Black box and a bright hot pink label doesn’t really go with a cupcakery. I guess I’m use to happy colors or a white box with a colorful label but at black box almost looks like a lingerie box (just saying… haha)

This bakery has a great variety of desserts, from homemade toffee to cupcakes and donuts. I tried the granola marshmallow cookie ($ 3), the cinnamon roll brioghnut ($ 5) and the salted caramel brioghnut ($ 5). Everything was good! The brioghnuts had a filling in them, which was a pleasant surprise. The owner was friendly and gave suggestions based on what we told him we did/didn’t like. The owner also is a two time winner of the show Cupcake Wars on Food Network… so you know he knows what he’s doing! I will be back to try some of the other options that looked appealing. Aside from the baked goods being a little pricey, I would recommend this bakery.

Confexion is my absolute favorite bakery in the greater Los Angeles area, and that must be saying something coming from a pastry chef (not to mention their multiple wins on Cupcake Wars)! They’re known for their cupcakes, but don’t let those amazing treats stop you from trying everything else!
Ie, cinnamon stromboli is holy $h*t amazing.
But if you are going for the cupcakes, some of my favorites include the cinnaswirl, hummingbird, carrot, and hunka hunka.
The only thing that makes me sad about Confexion is that they don’t have special gluten free flavors available daily anymore! Only chocolate and vanilla rotating every other day.
Oh well, I still adore this place! So take a bite into one of their goodies and have a food-​gasm.

Omg omg this is one delicious store. So glad I got 3 things and was blown away. Let’s start w the chocolate briochenut filled w marscapone and Nutella– one word Insane! The sweet potato cookie was scrumptious and the vanilla cupcake topped w milk chocolate tasted very similar to sprinkles which is a high complement. Way better than Susie Cakes who has the driest cupcakes don’t get that place.

Well these cupcakes are surprisingly worth the premium price they ask for.
I’ve had the vegan and red velvet cupcakes and both have been delicious and robust in flavoring.
The staff is always friendly when I come in and the parking and venue are without flaw.
I’ll see again soon (tomorrow) staff of this wonderful cupcake place!

This place is pretty good!
Confexion is a very small cupcake store in the corner of The Village, so it strays away from the main foot traffic, but it still seems to gain much attention. The attention, which I late found out, probably stems from them being the Champions in Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. Super COOL! This is their second store. Their first one is in Pasadena, and I am glad that they decided to have their second store right here in the SFV. The owners were actually working at the time, and were super nice and friendly, and was patient with us as we asked about every single cupcake she had.
They have items ranging from cupcakes, to cronuts, to cookies, to even their own ice cream. For the month of november, they have a cookie called sweet potato marshie, which is pretty much a sweet potato cookie, with marshmallow melting inside it, and it is one of the best cookies I’ve had. It was sweet, and it was soft, and had the taste of a sweet potato, but was not overpowering. I also got to try their coffee toffee ice cream, which was also really tasty. I personally really liked their toffee. Also, I believe there is an actual cupcake in the middle of the ice cream pint! I have also gotten their hummingbird, and caramel macchiato cupcakes. Here’s the kicker, they also offer cold milk if that’s something you’d like; or their own blend of coffee, or even their rosemary-​vanilla lemondade.
I was fortunate enough to try their ‘cupcake war winner cupcake’, vixxxen, which is a spicy red velvet cupcake. We ordered it for the main reason the worker said it was SPICY. When we dove into it, we could taste a very cinnamon-​y cream cheese topping topped with poprocks candy, edible beads, and a fondant lip. It was spicy in a sweet way, and the pop rocks gave a zing in your mouth. Then when we took a bite of the red velvet, it was very warming, like they used cayenne to give a spicy sensation without burning your tongue off. Although the cupcake itself was a little over cooked, I overlooked it, as the spicy red velvet lived up to the name. It was a vixen, very enticing, and very spicy.

I work pretty much next door… and this place is heaven! We grab a treat daily, and one is better than the other. Prices are good, and the service is awesome!

Heard great things about this place and saw their episode on Food Network so I had to come. First off they’re super friendly with big smiles, second they offer gluten free (small variety) third they don’t lie about the taste! Today they were offering buy 3 & get one free so I got 2 gluten free cupcakes and 2 gluten free brownies (which are always gluten free) I’m in love with their Nutella brownie! Most go in for yourself to try!!!

The best cupcakes I have ever had. They had very good canolis. The brownies with the cookie crust underneath are the best. The canoli has chocolate chip in it; one of the best i ever had.
The vegan cupcakes are very tasty. It doesn’t even taste vegan.

As my friend and I explored The Village for the first time, we came across this nifty little cupcake/​bakery shop. The cupcakes looked really good, as did several of their other items. We opted to wander around and eat/​have a glass of wine before ordering our baked goods. That turned out to be a mistake… only because the red velvet cupcakes were all gone by the time we got back to the store. Alas, I opted for a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting, that I took home and ate instead of dinner (gotta pick your calories). I have to say this cupcake was better than average overall. The cake itself was perhaps just a tad dry, but not to a fault. Cake, however, is simply a vehicle for ingesting icing, and the icing is definitely above average. My old «go to» cupcake store is now out of business and I’ve been looking for another (though I TRY to stay away, really), and this may be it. Great job! Loved my cupcake!

Finally my favorite cupcake place from Pasadena opened in woodland hills! Parking is pretty easy in the big parking structure and the first hour is free. I’ve been here twice and the line only had a few people in it. The vanilla cupcakes seem to be pretty popular and were sold out the last time I came. In my opinion, confexion cupcakes are 10 times better than susiecakes. Confexion taste like a real cupcake and the texture of susiecakes is more like cornbread.
The one downside is the cupcakes are around $ 4, which I think is really expensive. I could get almost a whole meal for that price!

Stopped in here on a whim, even though I am not a cupcake fan, SO glad I did!
They have so much more to offer, donuts big as your head filled with the best Italian crème ever!
The quality here is fantastic, everything is fresh and baked perfectly!
Cookies (try the oatmeal!) broighnuts (brioche donuts, only sold here, SO good!)
Even ice cream, which I must come back for.
Service was exceptional, really she was so nice and fun to talk to, that really makes a HUGE difference!
I went with their special $ 5 for dessert and coffee, I got two and went with both the huge donut and the broighnut, making the coffee pretty much free!
Coffee was great, desserts perfect, I wish them all the best and cannot wait to be back to try more!

Great location. Wonderful staff. Yummy cupcakes and cookies. Dying to try their cakes and ice cream. Have visited this location several times since they opened a month ago. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Have had several of the cupcakes and all were delicious. My husband loves the cookies.
