Just experienced my first visit here with Kane, I came in today to receive a different cut and grooming experience for my sisters wedding tomorrow. I was given a very friendly greeting, and offered a beverage while I waited(decided on a beer). I explained to Kane how I normally did my hair but was open to try something different but not to crazy. He met those expectations and more. In the midst of the haircut I decided to splurge a bit more and get a facial and shave. I am very prone to severe razor burn and breakouts. Kane did an amazing job to make sure to shave my face with little discomfort and irritation. I definitely could not have achieved a good shave like this at home or with my routine barber. The only reason why I am not giving this 5 stars is just simply due to prices for service. although completely worth the price its not realistic to visit this place routinely. I most certainly though will be making this my go to place for all my grooming needs for important occasions.

I only gave it 2 stars because it’s a nice atmosphere, super clean, and everyone is very pleasant. The cut is slow, and most of the people here don’t know their way around clippers. The scissor work is alright, but I think I’m better off at my good ol’ blue collar barber. If your looking for a sub mediocre cut, and for someone to be really polite while they cut your hair, then this is the place for you. I would equate this place with a log of excrement packaged in very expensive gift wrapping. Will never come back here again.

I love this place. Not for those who want a haircut on a budget but most definitely worth it if you want to look good and get pampered doing so. I was amazed at how clean this place is. The helpful staff was very welcoming and immediately sat me down in their waiting area and offered me my choice of beer, wine, coffee or soda. My haircut was great, had a lovely stylist give me a great cut followed by a nice hot towel of bayrum to the face. It was relaxing. Certainly not your average men’s salon. I highly recommend this to any guy who wants a great cut and new experience.

Found this place on Groupon and decided to check it out. It is an extremely clean and professional shop just for guys. You are offered a drink and then put on a special robe so you don’t get covered in hair. Your hair is washed before AND after your haircut so you don’t walk away dirty. Really great haircut and my stylist Rebecca was awesome too.

I visited during the annual 2015 Sidewalk sale for Woodbury commons. The outside representative was welcoming, professional, smiling and brought me inside for a tour. They had a give away basket to enter for free services for your male mate. I entered and made a purchase of mens CREW gel, I was given a 20% discount for the sale day. I entered a beautifully decorated mens spa. No men were in there. They have a fridge with alcohol, soda, water etc. The chairs for service of reminiscent of the 50s that were used for shaves etc. Most importantly they look sterile and roll away the manicure carts to avoid that cluttered feeling. If you have a professional man in your life that needs a wellness retreat day send them here as they have gift cards too… I didn’t experience the services(obviously) although the 1st impression made me believe they are the real deal for mens salons. I will be sending my mate here. ENJOY

I decided to give this place a try while seeking a new place for a haircut/grooming. The places I have been previously were too inconsistent or it was that I had to go to a few places to get everything I needed done. This salon caters to men — which is unique — at least on LI. It opened in the Fall 2014. The setup is nice and clean. The waiting area is sort of a man-cave when the client can watch TV or grab a drink. My stylist was very skilled and polite. I was there for a haircut, darkening up the greys on whatever little hair I have left on my head, as well as my beard. Finally decided to have some minor waxing/hair removal done. All this took about 1 ½ hours to complete. The end result was that the bill came to $ 100. I feel that this is excessive for the services rendered. I am pleased with the service and the haircut and the dye job; the hair removal was sub-par. There is one last point that I think is worth mentioning — the price list for hair styling is broken down into 3 price points: Center, Senior and Master. This initially confused me so an inquiry revealed that the different price points are based upon the experience of the stylist. Interesting idea, however when I go to have a haircut I expect to have my hair cut and the end result should be a well groomed appearance. Having my hair cut by a «Center» stylist should achieve this, right? Then… what above this will be delivered by a «Master» stylist?

Finally, there’s a high-end salon for men on Long Island – and it’s a great one. Seriously, if you live in Nassau or Suffolk County, the options for men’s haircuts and related services are stunningly lousy. You can either go to one of the million faceless barbershops – good luck trying to find one that actually knows how to cut men’s hair(and by that, I don’t mean brandishing a pair of electric shears, asking, «What number do you want?»). Or you can trek into the city to a fine men’s place(think John Allen’s) where the wait is eternal and the prices are exorbitant. Or you can go to a women’s salon. Given all this, the presence of18|8 in Woodbury is reason for guys to rejoice. Simply put, I got the best haircut of my life here today. It’s exactly what I wanted, and I can’t say I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in, only that I needed a serious cut and restyling. The guy who took care of me, Kane, took the time to listen to my concerns about my thinning scalp, bald spot, etc., and made smart suggestions about how to maximize the look of my hair. Most importantly, he clearly knew what he was doing with a pair of scissors and a straight razor. In truth, to say he gave me a haircut is an injustice to the experience. He started with a soothing stone massage on my neck; did a full wash of my hair both before and after the cut; completely took care of my, er, somewhat challenging eyebrows; and finished with a face treatment that included an awesome-smelling moisturizer and a hot towel. I left the shop feeling completely relaxed and re-energized. It demands to be noted that everyone I dealt with at the shop from the moment I called for an appointment right through to the end was completely friendly and professional – no snobbery, no cluelessness, but a clear sense of wanting to make this the best possible experience for their clients. Included in this is the environment of the shop itself – soft leather chairs, cool music, cold beer: like a man-cave without the bad smell. And finally, the price: so reasonable for the level of service provided, fully half what I would have expected to pay, or would have paid across the bridge and tunnel. Part of me wants to tell every dude I know about the place, the other part wants to keep it to myself while it’s still not too hard to get an appointment. P. S., because I’m an observer of such things: this would be the ideal place for a groom-to-be and his groomsmen to get spiffed up before a wedding. If this rave review sounds like a shill, I promise you it’s not. I’m just an ordinary guy who happens also to be an English teacher and freelance writer. My final word on 18|8 of Woodbury: so damn impressed.

Eighteen Eight is the real deal in Luxury«men only» salons. Located in woodbury long island, this amazing salon offers an urban chic environment and a highly professional staff.. Gave the shop a quick walk through and then booked a shave, hair styling, ear and nose waxing, and manicure. I can honestly say that this was the best mens salon experience ever! .Paul Tessitore, the owner and his staff were welcoming and accomodating. 18⁄8 offers an elegant, relaxing, and highly enjoyable mens salon“experience. I really enjoyed and appreciated Lesly my hair stylist and Lorri my manicuriist. Both Lesly and Lorri were great to talk to and highly professional. My neck and shoulders were given a hot stone message prior to a shampoo/conditioner. Lesley is a master stylist and my new hairstyle and cut reflected his skill. My hair is shorter, more manageable and I have received a number of unsolicited complimente from friends and family. Eighteen Eight has a men;s club atmosphere and a décor reminiscent of the finest mens salons in new york city. Loved every minute of my 18⁄8 experience and look forward to my next appointment. Great people, great service and fine salon products. 18⁄8 is the place to be for men of all ages on the move upward!
