The rental skates are in horrible condition and fit poorly from over wear. I saw, a guy turn in his skate today that had a broken blade! I can never enjoy skating there because my feet hurt in the worn out skates. My son also always complains. We went skating in NY and had no problems. I am not a regular skater otherwise i would invest in my own skates since this is the only gig in town. They should also have some signage or someone advising people on how to properly size skates, the most common reason people are falling all over the place.

It’s a nice facility. They have mostly junk food though. I wish they had a street hockey and roller derby rink as well.

Slick place. Ok, this is only a review for hockey gurus. Public skater punks, figure skaters in stretchy pants and crazy Korean short track speed skaters go to the next review below. First off… you spend a million bucks on the most modern newest rink(s) in the area and you put swing open doors with a vestibule at the entrance? WTF? Trying to negotiate an entrance carrying oversize bags and sticks and water bottles and other crap is like some homeless dude trying to enter Penn Station with a shopping cart full of everything he owns. I get caught up in those heavy doors everytime. Laugh it up Tinkerbell as we pass in the vestibule with your monogramed skate shoulder bag. Next on the list: Beer league hockey… we like to drink cheap shit beer that we brought AND in the locker room. Not your snooty craft beer from a keg fridge in the snack bar served up by some gum snapper teenager that never went to college and learned the fine art of pouring a draft. We used to(before Snowmageddon ’10 when the rink imploded) have cookouts in the parking lot and… uh…drink cheap shit beer after games. What? no drinky in the lot no mo? It’s against the law? …Lemme check… this is private property and shielded from the road by trees. The beer league action happens late at night… so your Mormon children should be in bed and not offended seeing some sweaty dude sitting on the tail gate of his truck holding a can of Busch. The only crazyness that ever happened in that lot was an occaisonal crushed beer can that turned into a puck was slap shotted into the side of a team mates Caravan. He deserved it after his lack luster performance any way. Locker rooms are ok. The prison sized shower is pretty tight… hold onto your soap or you’ll get a face full of your team mates frank and beans picking it up. The double rinks are nice. Ice is well maintained. Zam operators don’t leave huge swimming pools of excess water when re-surfacing. The boards are solid and the benches have plenty of room. Lighting is excellent. That brings us up to 3 stars. Bottom line. The penalty box sucks.

This is a very nice facility, but be careful not to go when they have their teen nights. It gets overrun with kids who cut in line and basically make you question your own sanity. Good outing for even little kids – once you hit the ice, people are actually very courteous and helpful. You can rent a locker or leave your shoes out by the viewing area. There are plenty of staff members everywhere and I didn’t mind leaving my things under a bench. Another tip, dress in layers! It’s cold at first, but you’ll get hot after a couple of laps.

This is the nicest rink in the area by a good margin(with the exception of Kettler Iceplex, but since that is the Caps practice facility it’s not a fair comparison). There are two sheets, one NHL and one Olympic, as well as a snackbar and a decent-sized pro shop. The sheets are both generally good quality, and the lighting and ventilation are good. When they rebuilt, they did a great job!

Brand new facility. They also have a neat café where you can take a break and have some rest. The staff are extra friendly. You do not want to come here on Friday night. This is when high school kids dominate the rink and boy, are they not careless and scary…
