For the General Store Mountain Gifts I purchase $ 100+ worth of goods… ran the card. Then I remembered I had a coupon… they would not honor it. They said NORETURNS. I wasn’t returning… I just wanted it rung up again for me to purchase with my coupon. Neat stuff in the store, but I will NEVER return. You lost a customer for life over $ 10…really smart business practice. Oh, and the young female clerk with the hipster eye glasses, never asked if we needed help. She stayed in the back talking on her cell phone(personal call) until we were ready to check out.

Cooper Creek Square: the place to go in Winter Park because… well, it’s the only place there is. Cooper Creek Square is a little ski town tourist sinkhole. And I use the term«sinkhole» in the most lovingly of ways. It’s certainly not a bad place, it’s just the only place — a central hub of tourist-priced restaurants and kitschy nick-knack shops with overpriced scarves and hats and cheesy t-shirts and fridge magnets with moose on them and shot glasses galore. Certainly something for everybody… who is visiting from Oklahoma. I review all in jest. Cooper Creek is a place to spend, maybe an hour or so if you’re not eating there. Leisurely perusing the shops and their wares, pointing out funny items and cool kids’ toys to whoever you might be perusing with. If it’s in the cards, many-a-Winter Park restaurant reside in CCS: from Chinese to Mexican to BBQ. There is also a coffee shop that serves homemade fudge(that I did not get to try when we visited). During the summer, there appeared to be several events happening in CCS for both locals and travelers. While we were there, they were having an ice cream social. Free ice cream and blue grass? Sold! …because white people love free ice cream and banjos, ya’all. Walking along the main street in Winter Park(the only street, really, beyond residential and stuff leading to the resort), you’re bound to come upon Cooper Creek. So stop by; give it a look-see. Perhaps you’ll find a shot glass calling your name, or maybe they’ll be giving out free ice cream(in the summer). I can only imagine it’s a more happening place(as far as visitors go) during the winter. And if need be, there’s a Christy’s Sports located right in it in case you’re in need of some ski wax in addition to your Moose Droppings [chocolate candy].
