I would highly recommend a visit to Martinelli’s.we were served by Judy and were so lucky to have her. She was gracious and informative. She did side-side pours of a variety of wines and told us about the family and the vineyards. We truly enjoyed our experience here. Thanks so much!

This is between 4 and 4.5 stars. We shared the tasting of four wines, which was comped with the purchase of a bottle. Judy was very helpful, and we enjoyed learning about the wines and history of the vineyard while sampling the wines. I regret not buying the dessert wine, which was very good. The winery is not related to the Martinelli’s apple cider, which surprised me.

Wonderful winery with wonderful people. Maud was our wine tasting connoisseur and was extremely helpful and knowledgable about each wine. She told us all about the business, how they grow their grapes, and many other interesting tidbits. We also got to try different types of the same wine to compare the flavors and notes. Thanks to Maud for making this a great wine tasting experience! :)

If you are thinking the same company as Martinelli the apple cider you are like me! It’s not though. I didn’t know there was another Martinelli brand out there and wine. And you would think they are just a branch off but nope, they are totally different. This is my BFs hometown and he always drives by Martinelli but never went until now. We were heading back to the bay and I suggested we take advantage of wine country and do another tasting that wasn’t out of the way. Martinelli is right there and they opened at 10am. Yes drinking early is good! We stopped there around 10:15 and did their basic wine tasting. It tasted good to me! We also got to taste their dessert wine and the lady that helped us gave us a tip on drinking sweet dessert wine. The tasting room was nice and big. They were nice and friendly and knowledgable here. They also had a beautiful picnic area up near the vineyard! And had regular eating grapes growing everywhere. We tasted some and it was vey sweet and delicious!

What a fabulous find! The tasting room is fun, friendly vibe. This family has been making wine for 5 generations and it shows in the quality. The 3 sisters Pinot was my favorite. It’s worth every penny.

We had a fantastic experience here. The winery is beautiful, and the service was top notch. We experienced a VIP tasting session in the back room(just needed to call and arrange in advance), where our guide was amazingly helpful in taking us through each glass, and brought out a few extra vintages of Jackass hill as well for us to try. Oh, and the wine was delicious as well.

Beautiful winery! Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Really enjoyed our tasting and learning about the various areas the grapes came from and the winery’s history. Highly recommend!

This place was a mixed back. Our sommelier was really rushing through the tasting, which was a bummer. I didn’t really want to pound my chardonnay, but I wanted to keep up with the group, so… The wine was tasty, reasonable tasting fee($ 10), but the real awesome take away was their pumpkin sale. Random? Totally. We wanted one pumpkin($ 5), but when we paid, we were told, «Just take as many as you want.» So we took 2. :) We had a good time, but I would’ve liked the tasting to not be so rushed.

Had a wonderful experience today at Martinelli Winery and learned a little Sonoma County Wine History. Martinelli Winery first planted Zin vines in the late 1800’s on Jackass Hill. The vines are 130 years old! Making them arguably the oldest Zin vines in Sonoma County! Sonoma County Wine Blog would like to give a Giant thank you to Regina Martinelli for the hospitality and we can’t forget Maude’s precious smile.

Not to be confused w the sparkling cider(although the apparently outsource apples to them). Great day! Came here with my SRJC wine tasting class and I loved it! The wine was so smooth and delicious, especially the Chardonnay, Pinots, and Zin(we got to taste the very exclusive Jackass Hill Zin!). I believe it was the owner who gave us a very detailed history of the family, the wines, the wine growing process(including soil samples!), and was very kind and personable. If my class hadn’t rushed out the door I definitely would’ve purchased the Chardonnay!

This place is the best winery on river road. Well, pretty much anywhere in SoCo. The service is personable, friendly & they really treat you like family here. The 2011 Pinot Noir was fantastic so I got a bottle to take home. I’m enjoying it now with my mom and I just has to stop and share my experience here on Unilocal. My advice is go to all the other wineries and stop at Martinelli on your way back to Santa Rosa and spend the rest of your time there because you will really enjoy yourself, the beautiful tasting room with a rich history, and all the delicious wines they offer. Take all your friends here when they come to visit you from out of town– and they will never stop talking about how great this place is. :-) Enjoy!

The famous Rustic red barn winery just off of river road. No glitz and glam here, rather a low key, casual experience of tasting delicious Russian river and Sonoma coast wines. A reasonable tasting fee of $ 5 gets you tastes of chardonnay, pinot noir, syrah, zinfandel and a sweet muscat ranging in prices from $ 30-$ 60. They have a small gift shop with fun and interesting items available too!

We stumbled across this place by accident. We never made it to Korbel so we had to turn back and found this place. It had a barn yard feel to it but the place was beautiful. The tasting is $ 5 and you get to taste everything that they offer. It was a great deal. Definitely will return to this winery again.

We are in love with Martinelli wines. So incredibly smooth and delicious. They would get a 5 star rating but… I was given a seriously dirty look upon entering and I was insulted asking for a half glass of my favorite pour by the«this is not a bar» comment by the bartender… um I mean wine pourer. Then received a lecture on young people being drunken messes at wine bars. Then we bought about $ 500 worth of wine and she walked out of the room without saying thank you to me. Probably won’t come back here and will stick to the mailing lost.

We visited Martinelli on a whim on a Sunday and had Judy pour our flight. Can I say how AMAZING she was!!! It was our first day in the area and once she heard this she provided a map of the area’s wineries, hipped us to hints on how to ship our wines back as luggage and even provided a padded shipping box(we paid for it of course). She gave suggestions for other wineries and was so knowledgable and just so relaxed. The wines were delicious! We were very happy we stopped here.

I was leery since the winery was recommended by a Texan … and I am a long-term Northern Californian. Still, we really liked this place and the wines were surprisingly good although a little pricey. We visited on a Monday and almost had the place to ourselves. We were helped by two staff who proved to be both knowledgeable and personable. And the wines were really good. What an enjoyable experience. We liked the Chardonnays and Pinots, although the reds were high on the alcohol level. We liked the Rose too. Nice little gift shop and a pretty spot but too close to the highway for a picnic. Try another spot for the picnic but if you want nice wines and cute little grape earrings — — it is a nice visit.

Sorry, but we were«underwhelmed» by what was poured. Admittedly, this was our fifth winery of the day, and we weren’t served the fabled Jackass Hill Zin, but even if Helen Turley is the consulting winemaker, we thought the wines we were served were only so-so, certainly nothing to rave about. Many people had raved about Martinelli, saying it was one of the top producers in Sonoma, but our reaction was«Meh.» Possibly it was because we arrived about 30 minutes before closing time, but we definitely had the feeling of being rushed through the tasting, as though the woman pouring couldn’t wait to finish with one wine and move on to the next so that she could finish up and go home for the day. The tasting room has a rustic charm, unlike the other ones we visited, and the price was right(no charge), but we were truly disappointed with the wines. Sorry, Ms. Turley, but we’ll stick to your Marcassin.

I’m surprised to see a three-star average rating for Martinelli. I urge you to please give it a try regardless of that! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience. Passed down generation to generation by Italian immigrants, the winery has a lot of history and character, and it owns some of the most desirable terroir in the Santa Rosa area. We felt bad coming close to their closing time, but the woman pouring our wines was very nice about it and engaged us in a delightful conversation about area restaurants and attractions. We left with a bottle of Zinfandel and information about their club. We’re seriously thinking about it!

Turley makes their Zins? I’m in! Yes, after our tastings, surprise… I bought a bottle of Zin.
