Great store for bulk items and low technology kitchen tools. This is an Amish store, not an outlet in particular for Amish made items. While they have some locally made items, such as furniture and seasonal fresh vegetables, there are all sorts of bulk items that are manufactured by the ‘English’(as they call us). The foodstuffs are mostly name brand type items in large quantities and without the fancy English packaging. Muuuch cheaper that way. An example is the plastic container of ranch dressing mix I got, that had maybe 2 cups of dip-mix powder in it. It was under $ 5, whereas the Hidden Valley envelopes at the grocery store cost almost $ 2 for a couple tablespoons(quite a racket). You cannot tell the difference & it is probably the very same product. I got a set of heavy(about ¼″ thick) stainless steel measuring cups for $ 10 that will outlast me, and my daughter, and got rid of the thin bendable ones I had at home. There are a lot of desireables in the kitchen gadget section; I was drooling and had to make myself back off before blowing my budget. They did have very good honey, cheaper than supermarket, and popcorn that pops up bigger than any I have seen in a long time. There are tons of snacks, candies, some cheeses and a lot of staples. The store is clean and well organized & the Amish staff were friendly with us. A few items are priced unreasonably high, because they may be interpreted to be «Amish». One was the oil lamps, which can be found at Wal Mart for $ 15 — and were $ 45 here — and also some of the low tech kitchen tools. So use common sense and you will walk out with a bargain. I spent a ton of cash here and received what I thought was more than market value. All practicalities aside, this was a fun place to visit with a glimpse at another culture and lots of interesting stuff to look at. We really had a good time in this store and saw a lot of old-timey goods that I didn’t know were still around. It was a very pleasant diversion while we were in the area, and worth the drive. I’m kicking myself for not taking pictures.

Kuntry Bulk Grocery is the almost mythical Amish Country Store that is located outside of Windsor, MO.(And can be tricky to find if you’re not in the know!) I’ve been visiting Kuntry Bulk(Yes that’s how they spell the name) for many years and in 2 previous locations. A trip to the store is like stepping back in time. The Amish for religious reasons shun most trappings of modern life so stepping into their store without fluorescent lighting to illuminate the place is going to be a new experience for many people. But when you walk in the door you will almost always be greeted with a smile, even if it’s sometimes a shy one. And inside you will find so many things from bulk spices, candies, homemade breads, jellies, jams, even meat products. If you want to find older hand powered kitchen tools you’ll want to look here. This is a review I’m actually hesitant to write as while they are good people and I want them to do well, I kinda like knowing that not everyone knows of this place. It’s definitely off the beaten path about an hour from Kansas City. But it’s a drive I feel is so worth it. Please be respectful when visiting here. By respectful that means driving carefully as the Amish use horses and buggies to get around. Don’t spook the horses, keep your language clean, and just be polite. You’ll be treated right in return. This place earns a placement on my Mythical 6th Star list as it’s just so different, so unique, and yeah, just plain yummy.(Strawberry — Rhubarb jam can be found here, which is something I value more than chocolate! And that’s saying something!)
