Probably the best meal I’ve ever had under $ 10.00. The tomato bisque is out of this world, as are the shakes

Just ate the most delicious burger I’ve ever eaten in my life. I tour with a country band for a living and have eaten thousands of burgers… Nothing comes close. The All American Burger(half pork belly and half ground beef w/bacon, egg and aioli) will make your taste buds dance. It was worth it!

Good spot for a quick breakfast before you hit the mountain. Been here several times for that, but haven’t eaten here otherwise. Prices are great. Food is pretty good. Love the hash browns and had an awesome omelette yesterday morning. I have never had a problem with bad service as some other reviewers have. Maybe those reviewers had a bad attitude and the locals didn’t take to it very well. I see it all the time and people like that give the rest of us(New Yorkers) a bad name. Say«please» and«thank you» … Maybe you will get better service. Or, try controlling yourself and not bouncing off the walls 24⁄7. You might be on vacation, but you are visiting their home. And, complaining that they don’t take credit cards is dumb. That’s their choice. Carry some cash when you leave the city. Makes your life easier.

Great food! The portions are good, lots of healthy options(also some less healthy options), it’s a great place to eat. The turkey burger is especially yummy.

LOVED the Tuesday special of lentil soup for lunch. Highly recommend it if you’re there when they have it on special. Went there for a breakfast and a lunch and everything was great(pancakes, omelettes, chicken stir fry, soup). Prices were very reasonable, and service was pretty quick.

This diner has a lot of options, and at the time we were there the veggie burger was dairy and egg free along with a handful of options that were also vegan. This place is FAR from veg friendly but during the Yoga Festival in October they had a few. The sweet potato fries were really good and the portions were huge. The server was amazingly helpful and very accommodating.

This is a great diner in a small little town. If you get the chance I would definitely stop by and check it out. We tried the fish and chips and French toast which was absolutely wonderful. Friendly staff and quick service.

Knowing that several Unilocal contained comments about the service, we still settled on stopping in here before the annual Independence Day parade and fireworks held in town. A lesson here before continuing, opinions are like… well you know. Everyone has one. Sometimes you have to go for it and make your own decision as to whether it’s good. Should a place be great 100% of the time? Yes, but are they ever? Certainly not. On this day, Michael’s was pretty damn great. We had chosen two specials for dinner. First, the Veggie Mediterranean Delight. A veggie patty topped with roasted red peppers and melted mozzarella cheese, sitting on a whole wheat pita. Served with a side of a fantastic raw shredded vegetable salad with a vinaigrette and a bit of feta. Excellent, in a word. Also, we asked for a drunken sailor… and the server said she needed one, too!(Awesome!) It was three pieces of beer battered cod, Cole slaw, and wasabi tartar sauce on a German hefeweiser roll, accompanied by the same great salad mentioned above, but in a light mayo instead. This was a real winner, as you could actually taste the beer in the batter that was fried crisp, clinging to each piece of flaky, moist fish. Topping off the meal, we were brought a couple of pieces of Independence Day cake on the house. Yellow cake with lemon filling, whipped cream topping, fresh strawberries… all looking like the flag of the USA. A very cool, old school, nice touch. Service was great, experienced, friendly, helpful, and worthy of a nice tip. I’m holding back a star for not taking credit cards. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.

Very pleased with Michael ‘s Diner excellent Greek Spinach Pie, salads, huge breakfast platters, not much room on those huge plates of his they’re so full of tasty morsels. Great beef and pork ribs, good crisp fries and speedy service by a well trained staff. Michael is usually there in the kitchen overseeing every dish being delivered to the dining area. He’s fussy and will come over to you and ask if your happy with the meal, he really cares about his clientele. Atmosphere is local, relaxed and casual. Waitresses really know their stuff, very well informed. Most beautiful view of Greene County mountains surrounding Windham Ski Resort stunning views, excessive amount of parking. Always look forward to stopping in when I travel up to see my son in Prattsville.

The best Chicken Orzo soup in at least 2 counties, and my favorite soup IS Chicken Orzo, and they serve it every day. On my last visit the soup was topped off with the best Pastrami on Rye this side of the Carnegie Deli(I’ve never been to Katz’s). Michaels Diner is a favorite of mine even though it is 14 miles uphill from where I live. Going back home I get a beautiful view of the valley between the Catskills and the Helderbergs. I highly recommend Michaels!

Got a Monte Cristo to go with just turkey and chedder and it hit the spot. I didn’t think it would, but I believe I found a new favorite here.

Food was OK, service was not as bad as some of the reviews say, but they DONOT take credit cards even though their Unilocal page says that they do. Had to walk to the gas station to find an ATM.

Michaels Diner use to be my «go to» place every time I visited Windham, but the last few times have left me and my family very disappointed. First lets talk about the service. The owners wife really should not wait tables. She clearly lacks people skills. She is rude and has no patience. It’s almost as if she doesn’t want to be there. We felt as if we were bothering her if we asked for anything; for example napkins. She never checked up on us to see if everything was ok. And believe me Nothing was ok. I understand the stress of running a restaurant(I own two in the city) but honestly if you’re the owner and you are showing your paying customers bad service that is not a good sign. This is upstate for Petes sake! It’s not like it’s high volume. The restaurant was empty the last time we were there. We ordered a burger that was the texture of rubber and it had a bad smell. The quesadilla was dry and hardly any cheese. We brought this to the waitresses attention and she said«oh no it’s fresh» and charged us anyway. The only reason I’m giving this diner two stars is because the prices are reasonable for the portion you get. Also, we respect Nick the owner(opposite personality of his abrasive wife). Nick if you read this, make your wife stay at home instead of trying to ruin your business. We are now eating at Neapolis pizzeria & grill. Where the food is delicious & fresh but most importantly the service is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!

The food here was excellent, the reason why I am only giving this diner 3 stars is because of the terrible service!!! We went there for breakfast and the place was dead, only 3 tables and the waitress took forever to refill our drinks, clear our plates and give is the check. I dont understand bad service when the resturant is empty. Probably will go back but only because of the food. Its also cash only, but they have no signs that say cash only! WTF?

I am usually not at all a person to get annoyed with mediocre service but this took the price. We were a group of friends coming for brunch, it took us about 1 hour before we finally received our food. The food was fine, nothing special but not bad however the exceptionally slow service drove us all crazy. We were several times trying to get the waiters attention without success and I would not recommend you going there if you are really hungry, but if you don’t mind the wait it’s a decent place.

I often forget why I’m less than fond of(most) diners and am often rudely reminded why. Now I merely have a tingling warning sensation. This experience will reinforce it. The service was OK on average, with the big exception that it took them longer to get our check than for us to order and eat our dinner. They were pretty understaffed, so that might have been it — but it seemed like only one person was handling checks, and we saw several other tables waiting for checks as well. The food itself was really pretty measly. The nachos were something of a joke, with questionable ground beef, canned salsa and ‘nachos’ — some cross between fried tortillas and… not sure what. The meatloaf was OK, the wings were pretty sub-par, and the steak and eggs were OK. The chicken fingers were probably the best. But not by a lot. Maybe just avoid this place and wait it out for some of the other restaurants in the area.

There are just so much hate reviews about this diner, on the contrary, my experience here was not as bad as the others. We came here early Monday afternoon and everything seems closed in this quaint small town of Windham except Michael’s Diner on the Main Street. We entered the side door and were greeted by a lovely woman. We helped ourselves to a table and the same lady brought the lunch special board for us to take a closer look. I ordered a lobster bisque(and probably the worse bisque I have had in years) but my philly cheese steak with fries was freshly made and very acceptable. Our orders arrived in a timely fashion. I have to agree with others that this place is probably not the cleanest restaurant but the customer service really rocked. The staff took time to answer our questions about the town. Our waiter checked on us numerous times if we needed anything. I will definitely come back here for a quick bite.
