Called in an order for takeout on a Tuesday evening. 3 entrees total. They told me over the phone it would be ready in 25 – 30 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later and my order wasn’t ready. In fact, they hadn’t even started — I could tell because they were just finishing up another customer’s takeout order when i got there, and they started my order after that. From the time I placed my order it took them 60 minutes to have my order ready. It took so long to make my order that when I got home the first thing my girlfriend said to me was«What happened?». Clearly she also felt that it took an unreasonable amount of time. It was good quality food but I find it unacceptable that it took twice as long as what they told me over the phone. They wasted my time and lost a customer. I won’t be going back.

The food is excellent! I’ve tried the shrimp fried rice(loaded w/shrimp, thank you), General Tso’s was quite good(didn’t know that you could get it with chicken or seafood, beef — we haven’t tried that yet), but my best, favorite item is the Alaska Roll — yummmm. If you are lucky enough to go in on a night that they have live music, there’s no place better in Winchester!

Good food! Prices are fair and fare is good! They have an outdoor patio, bar and dining room. The bar and dining area are sprayed by a long fish tank, nice :)

We used to love Mimosa. They had good service and great food. But now, service is incredibly slow(when they’re not even busy), and the food has too much of some ingredient. I got chicken lo mein, my favorite meal, and it was drowned in soy sauce. I couldn’t even get through a quarter of it. My mother, who most of the time thinks that there isn’t enough salt, thought there was way too much. Very disappointing. It was the one good Chinese restaurant in Winchester.

Mimosa is simply awesome! The hibachi at this establishment is some of the better in the region. The customer service at Mimosa is also excellent.

My husband and I have ordered take out here a couple times and each time we have been disappointed. Not only are the prices sky high(in my opinion) but you also do not get your money’s worth. The miso soup is soooo salty. We had to literally water it down. We paid $ 6 for seaweed salad and they filled a CORNER of one of those tiny take out containers. And not to mention the sashimi pieces were cut to the size of a nickel! I’ve never seen sashimi that small. It was a joke. Only giving 2 stars because the rolls we had were of regular/standard size and taste. Otherwise it’s a huge ripoff. Not worth ordering purely for convenience(which was our excuse to ordering here in the first place).

We will never order from this restaurant again. I told my husband the quality of food and the flavors of our meals was due to it being delivered to our home. He said it would be just as bad if we went and sat in the restaurant. The steak was well-done and we asked for medium rare. The butterfly breaded shrimp that comes with it was fishy tasting and slimy. I took a bite and had to spit it out. I ordered chop suey because I haven’t had it in a very long time. It had no taste. I had to add salt and pepper in order to give it flavor.

This place has really good food and the presentation for their sushi is beautiful. We have had several of their dishes, including sushi and have not been disappointed. I love love love their crab wontons. Their sushi rolls are tasty and nicely plated, but if you’re looking for a huge expansive sushi menu or basic rolls you won’t find if here. Their other food is Asian fusion and it’s very good. We have eaten there and ordered delivery and haven’t been disappointed. The décor in the restaurant is ok– but it’s clean and the service is good.

I’ve only used their delivery service, which was very quick… the food was still hot when it arrived and the delivery man was very friendly. Their crab Rangoons are freakin awesome.

Get rid of the annoying karaōke DJ on Saturday as others have in Winchester and abroad, and Mimosa will be much better off. 5 stars for the food it is very good, 3 for the wait staff, but the folks that are groupies at this DJ’s Karaōke sets will say otherwise because they are either A. too drunk to care(and equally too dense) B. a**kissers who DO indeed get as many songs as they want to sing although the DJ loves to be a control freak and pick your songs for you even when you’ve done that already. C. The DJ. I dont know if there is a for dummies guide to being a karaōke DJ but please buy one. Let me give some sage advice. Don’t hog the mic with your own voice, don’t be a fascist with the mic to others, don’t try to make it more than it is aka its NOT about you, Im definately NOT there for you Miss Karaōke DJ, play the music, do your job and go home. Its not high school and im not an a**kisser like those you surround yourself with. You know that already though ;) And I know you know ;))

I used to go there all the time. keyword is «used to» Good idea, but poor execution. We have tried a variety of the menu items but have always been disappointed by the food. It is either over-cooked, undercooked, bland, or cold. The kitchen needs work. The bar and atmosphere are good, but I don’t have anything positive to say about the food. Went there again and the food was still terrible. Both of our shrimp tempera were charred on the outside with a burnt taste. It’s too bad. This could be a great place. I think they need someone in the kitchen who cares more about consistent quality. We have eaten here six times, hoping they will have sorted it out, but we have had a problem with the food each time. Get real! The only thing good about this place is the owner let’s me touch his pee pee, but the food really sucks.

Guys, i seriously think this is one of the best restaurants in winchester. Their menu always pleases my family’s diverse palates: i can get raw fish, my dad can get steak and mom can get a fun veggie creation. I was there last weekend and had sushi(again). I ordered the queen roll and the dragon roll. both were super tasty and the fish was great. my dad loves the flank steak dish. they are creative with construction of some dishes and make lots of things in house, so there is some variation from run of the mill fare(thank you!) basically everything we’ve ordered has been a pleasant surprise. What hasn’t yet been mentioned about mimosa is their amazing HH. I think it’s from 5 – 9 every day. There are some ½ off specials, but let’s be honest, their alcohol is already fairly priced(so refreshing!!): $ 1.50 lites, $ 6 sapporo cans. HH pricing is icing on the cake.

A nice choice in the burbs of rural Winchester. In our preparation for day two of Apple Blossom fest, we stopped in here for lunch. It was a nice and sunny Saturday so we sat on the patio. Miranda was quite pleasant as she shuttled our meal from the kitchen. We had the Moo Goo Gai Pan, about average. My mates had the General Tso and the Sweet & Sour Chicken… no complaints. The best part of the meal however was the Spring Rolls, really quite tasty. They have sweet tea as well and an interesting aquarium inside that makes for a very nice room divider.

Having grown up in Winchester only to move to Arlington County post-undergrad, I think I’ve developed a good sense of what an Asian Fusion place is supposed to be like. They’re all over the place here. I should start by saying that I am always looking to get the largest amount of good quality food I can for what I am paying. In this regard, I believe that Mimosa did an excellent job. I found their sushi selection to be extensive for a Winchester place(so far as I’ve seen, the other places have limited menus) and the rolls that we got on the plate were of a reasonable size, rather than being very small. At about $ 5.50/roll(6 – 8 pieces), I was pleased with what I was getting. The only downside was the service. DISCLAIMER: I was at Mimosa only once on Christmas Eve 2009 with a friend from high school. We’ve both been waitresses at one point or another in life, so we get it. Maybe they weren’t expecting many customers at 1 pm that day, so there only appeared to be one guy serving the whole restaurant. It isn’t a huge place or anything, so that didn’t seem unreasonable, but it did feel like maybe they should have had at least one other person around. I visit my family in Winchester often enough that it usually pains me to leave the excellent dining options of Arlington/Alexandria behind. If given the chance, I’d go to Mimosa again when stuck in Winchester.

Went back to Mimosa. Lowering my rating to 4 stars for the service. Our first vivst we were searved my who I think was the owner, or at least the manager. The second by a waitress who was very friendly, but waiting tables is clearly not her strong point. There was only one other table occupied. Food was still excellent.

Mimosa runs hot and cold. The sushi that we have had over about five trips isn’t that bad. The Pink Lady we had last night was very good. We also had a seaweed salad was quite good. My wife had the Citrus Glazed (Scallops) — yum… I had Scallops in a rum sauce and it was very bland. Over all we will go back but there are better places to eat.

Oh well. After more than a month, they’ve only gotten worse. I really hope they stop trying to be so creative on their Chinese dishes. There are ways to make them fresh and new without going so far overboard. For example, the second visit we got Steamed Vegetable Dumplings. My wife took a bite and made a face. I tried one and also made a face. There was CREAMCHEESE in our Steamed Vegetable Dumpllings??? My wife didn’t even finish the second half. I adjusted my mindset, told myself they were just Crab Rangoon without the crab and steamed instead of fried. They weren’t horrible after that, but frankly… we ordered Steamed Vegetable Dumplings! The Hot ‘n’ Sour Soup was still fantastic. You can get the bowl of that and it is a meal unto itself. :) We ended up getting mostly Sushi for dinner. It was ok on some bites and scary on others. The tuna was fresh. The flounder on the Rainbow Roll was very close to bad though. Again the rolls were stuffed with more stuff than would allow the seaweed to wrap around, so rolls were popping open. Even with only two other tables it was still loud. The stupid radio station was still blaring from behind the bar. The humongous saltwater fish tanks still weren’t fully operational. You want to love the atmosphere, but it just doesn’t work.
