Had a Comfort Specialist come out to give me a bid on a new HVAC system. The guy was very nice, had a lot of knowledge and information. They measure your rooms and note your old system. They also do a needs assessment questionnaire. Instead of just emailing a quote, in a couple days they meet with you again after analysis of the information they gather and do a presentation. To my dismay, their quote was $ 1600 more than another quote I received for the same brand and equipment! I thought after showing him the other bid, he would negotiate but I guess they don’t do that. We ended our meeting within minutes afterwards! Two stars for a fine presentation. The guy seemed honest enough and they probably would have done a good install but the price was way high!

Unconscionable business practices, dishonest, and unprofessional. I am a landlord on a property in Frederick County, Virginia. I called ME Flow for after-hours service on a possible leak. We are on the 2nd floor of a 3-story building and the unit below on the 1st floor was getting wet — so, we needed to find out if our unit was the source of the leak. The tech who called back said that there was a premium above the usual charge for coming out at night — asked me for $ 145.00. He failed to disclose what additional inspection/work would cost so I presumed he would call me when he got there. I was aware of his arrival via a text from my tenant, and after approximately 20 to 30 minutes, she texted again to tell me he had left. Confused as to why he was only there for such a short time, I tried to get him on the phone. More than an 1.5 later, he finally called back and said that our unit was dry and that we were not the source of the leak. He apologized for not calling me, but said he was busy and had to go handle another job. He said he could not see any wetness in our unit, plumbing stack, or fixtures, and that I was okay. That was it. I got off the phone with him, figured that I had spent $ 145.00, but okay, I was in good shape. Well, the next day, I see a charge on my card for $ 478! On top of the $ 145.00, the tech helped himself to a $ 333.00 charge. I never agreed to that. I was never quoted, never told, and certainly would have liked the opportunity to be informed and give consent. I called MEFLOW to get an explanation of how they do business and they were completely indifferent. I argued about the time-frame and they asserted that GPS shows the tech was parked at our unit for 2.0 hours. Well, if he was, he spent an 1hr 40 min. of that napping, because he was only in my unit for 20 minutes… As I began to explain that I had time and date stamped texts between my tenant and I to refute the time assertion, they flipped it and said, well, we actually don’t charge by the hour — we charge a flat fee… Ok wait… first there’s a meter running validated by GPS, and now, it’s a flat fee? Ok, well, I shited gears and argued that I had not been given the opportunity to appreciate or understand that he would be charging $ 333…they basically said, «well, that’s [our] charge…» Really, MEFLOW? Exactly $ 333…why not $ 300 or $ 350, or something that sounds legitimate for a flat fee… why $ 333? Just sounds suspicious and I feel taken advantage of… I don’t expect anyone to work free of charge, I simply want them to be above board instead of just helping themselves… FAIL, MEFLOW, you are not a good company.
