I used to live in Mexico and these sopes took me right back there. My husband had a carne asada burrito and gave it 8.5÷10. We’ll be back!

Having both eaten and shopped here, I’m ambivalent about this carnicera. The food and the shopping are neither great nor terrible. But as I haven’t been able to find a butcher outside of the usual supermarkets in Portland, I decided that I’d see if someone here could carve up little pigs to my liking. First up, the butcher case carries traditional Latin cuts of beef, pork, and chicken. I saw goat on the menu for catering, but there was none in the case at the time I was there. The prices are slightly better than your average supermarket, but only by a little. The restaurant(it’s more of a deli with a seating area) is cute but a little dirty looking. Food preparation was fast, and unfortunately some of the ingredients were wilted and some were canned. The service was prompt and friendly, though! The store itself offers a nice selection of classic Latin American cooking staples. It’s a small shop, so the selection of dried chillies is limited to things you need, not the rare and exotic, but I can still put together everything I need for a typical dinner at Red’s abuela’s place.(Nothing like the taste of abuela simmered in chipolte with adobo… I meant her puerco, yeah, her puerco en adobo NOT abuela en adobo.) All around, it’s a standard carnicera with some specialty items. If you like to cook this stuff, it’s a good place to get what you need. Oh, and the traditional sweets are pretty tasty, if you’re a fan of the lower-sugar flavor profile of Mexican pastries.

To me, a happy meal is something that is CHEAP and DELICIOUS — this is both! I absolutely LOVE the tacos here. They’re $ 1.25 each and two tacos fill me up! They put so much meat, I usually separate the tortillas/meat to get two tacos from each portion. As a student, $ 2.50 for a lunch was definitely a steal. Make sure they give you both salsas with the tacos — it makes it even more delicious. I also tried Chicharron for the first time here. Chicharron is pork belly fried until the whole thing is crispy. I can never finish a piece, but my family likes to chop it up and take small bites as a snack. This place lost a star just because the eating area is a bit unorganized, but don’t let that deter you from going!

Simply put: EATHERE. Restaurant is in the back of the store. Tacos are amazing. Meats always cooked to perfection. I find myself usually getting 4 tacos. I prefer carnitas and carne asada. The Tortas are amazing as well. Holy carpola writing this review is making want to go back. I appreciate some good authentic cart style tacos and this place hit that sweet spot. Now whenever I’m on the mood for Mexican I go here.

Authentic Mexican store with a great selection of meats and menu items. It’s a very small place but don’t be deceived as they utilize it to the max. Try their chips, guacamole and pico de gallo. They have excellent meals and party platters.

This Orange County girl just found great carnitas street tacos! Yummy Pico de Gallo, homemade tortillas. Had to buy some pan de huevo to try.

I had the tacos and my husband had the beef tongue. He loved it, and tacos were yummy! The rice was really good as well, beans were not authentic at all and not good in my opinion. Salsa is BOMB!

Jamaica more like flavored water. 4 tacos is taking forever, seriously taking forever. 2 carna Assad, pollo and one pastor. The pastor was the best. I wasn’t charged for the drink. But I must say the food is average at best.

Cheap and yummy mexican food. Try the tostadad de ceviche and any of the tacos, especially the tripe. We didn’t check out the store but that will have to be next time. My husband and I are going to come back again!

If you are in the mood for authentic Mexican tacos with fresh made corn tortillas this is a good place close to the I-5 Highway.

Great tacos to buy for a quick lunch if you’re in the area, and even better for the price. We love getting catering for meetings, plenty of food, and tastes way better than anything else you can bring in for a crowd.

Best tacos in Oregon!!! I love the handmade tortilla. I always love eating here nothing much else to say; you just have to try it, you won’t be disappointed. Come by and see comadres at work.

So you walk into this place and you’re thinking, ‘Um, I wanted food, not a mini mart?’ Because the front of the place IS a mini-mart. It looks like they have a whole tortilla making operation as well, so those are super fresh. But head into the back and behind the meat case but off to the right is the ‘restaurant’ area. It looks pretty sketchy to be honest, and after they take your order you go BACK up front to pay. At least the food workers aren’t handling dirty money. The food, however. DEE-VINE. Delicious, juicy, soft and meaty. I had the larger carnitas tacos and chicken burrito. I should have just had the tacos, they were huge. The burrito is bigger around than my arm. Yeah I’m an IT geek, but my hobbies include doing engine swaps, so I’m not puny either. While it’s a little disconcerting to go into a place thinking it’s ONLY serving prepared food, it’s also nice knowing that you could probably BUY everything you need to make what you ordered yourself, in the same store.

The only good Mexican food we have found in the Portland area… and it’s all the way in Wilsonville! Totally worth the drive, amazing food! We have been searching since we moved from Southern California, and we almost gave up. Will be back again for sure.

This place is just awesome. We don’t stop in nearly enough. I have always enjoyed their little tacos and their tortas, but today I ventured out and tried their sopas. Not only were they delicious but they were much larger than I expected. Very filling, very fresh and very tasty.

Went around lunch time and was helped right away. As my Spanish speaking skills would qualify as kindergarten level at best, I was very relieved to be welcomed by a very fluent English speaking gentleman. I ordered one pollo large taco and one carnitas large taco. The homemade tortillas were amazing. The carnitas meat was my favorite. Both had great flavor and served the authentic way with sliced radishes and chopped onion. The salsa verde was amazing. I ended up buying a separate container to take home. The salsa roja was great too but a little on the spicy side, just a heads up for you non spicy loving people. I will definitely be going back to try their chorizo and pastor tacos and pazole.

I would never have stopped here except for the great Unilocal reviews. That said, I’m really glad I came. This place has Mexican baked goods, candy, a meat counter, home-made tortillas, and a restaurant — all in one little location. The restaurant was in the back, with tables and chairs to the side. The menu is on a large board above the counter with little standing space. The menu had no vegetarian options, but they could probably make something if you asked. We got chorizo and chicken tacos on home-made tortillas and they were very good! The man who took our order was very nice and told us to take a seat. We were confused as to how to pay, but we figured out that you grab everything first(even from the market area — like drinks) and pay before you leave. Though the food was very good, I’m giving this 4 stars for the location and organization.
