My local Rainsoft dealer closed a few years ago so I had to contact a dealer 70 miles away. I had what I would consider a catastrophic failure with an old Rainsoft water softener. I tried to send pics into the company to describe the situation, but they persisted that the only way to proceed was to schedule a $ 150 destination fee service appointment. To my dismay, the service tech that showed didn’t even get down my stairs to the basement before he told me he was 99% sure what happened already just by the model number of the unit. Yup, you guessed it … I paid $ 150 for 3 – 5 min of advisory time that the owner could’ve viewed in a picture and saved us both some time. Owner had the chance to do the right thing but would not acknowledge my requests to view pics before setting an appointment. $ 150 later … we both know how things could be handled better.
