The Hill Bar & Grill

When in for a hamburger and fries today, fries were greasy and cold, the burger was burnt, worst part the bun was burnt black on the bottom.
At least I didn’t get sick eating this burger only ate half of it an very few fries. maybe give them one more try as last week I was here and had great fish and chips.
Quality control seems to be an issue here.

Great choice if you are looking for some delicious bar food. We had the chicken fried steak, Greek salad and the donuts for dessert. All were great! Service was really good. Beer selection was great. My only issue was they charged us for a taster of a beer and it is a little higher priced for a bar.

I regret not getting a burger or spaghetti when I went here. I ended up going with the fish and chips and the portion size was pretty small. Everyone else in my group had a decent portion of food. It’s a bit pricey but def worth checking out. I love the classy atmosphere. I’ll be back sometime to have at the bar for a few drinks.

The hill is hands down my favorite sports bar in Wichita. Caution! Don’t wander into the hill expecting your typical sports bar bar food. No no no, the hill is heads and shoulders above that. I’ve had everything from the street tacos to the spaghetti to the rotisserie chicken and I’ve never been disappointed or hungry for that matter, as I walk out the door. My suggestion is that you go and order whatever tickles your fancy, it’s going to be good.

I’m updating my review. I say 3.7 stars so I’ll give it 4 because they have gotten this place clicking and it has become a great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Still noisy… but the service is great and the food is solid. Great beer selection — wish they had better gluten free beer.

The food is good and the drink selection is pretty amazing. I’d give a higher review but service here is really hit or miss, you can either have a great server or be in a situation where you are waiting 15 minutes to give a drink order on a slow night.
I won’t stop going here but I do wish server quality was a little bit more consistent.

My family of five always come here and have a good meal. Kids get the spaghetti with meatballs and share it, there’s enough for three kids. Great salsa and guacamole for an appetizer and they have a great beer selection.

Me and a friend went there today and it was VERY GOOD! Our server Nija was very accommodating and polite. We went with the Unilocal recommendations. Street tacos and black bean and chick pea dip. All of it was excellent. I had the carnitas, carne asada, and chicken tacos and my friend had the shrimp tacos. My friend loved them and the dip. The only reason 4 stars and not 5? The rice was just pedestrian, bland even. However, the service and tacos are excellent. We will be coming back.

Omg the service is SO bad unless you sit at the bar. Like walk by you 5 times and not making eye contact bad. Waving your hands in the air bad. Which sucks because they food is pretty good and it’s close to home.

Everything we ordered was good! I tried onion rings and carnitas nachos for appetizers and both were great– but the appetizer portion of onion rings was awfully small to share with a group. For my entrée I chose the wedge salad with beef medallions– I ordered well done and they definitely were not but the salad was still delicious. Others at my table had the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes which looked amazing. Prices were a little high but I would go back!

Great food and Great service. Had the Red Snapper and Half Wedge Salad with a few Great Divide Colette Colorado beers. All I can say is TASTY… I come here often and never had a bad experience. It’s also conveniently located at the corner of Douglass and Oliver which is just a couple blocks from my office.

This place was just O.K. — not bad, but nothing to rave about. We were visiting from out of town when a friend took us here for dinner. The ambience was good. We were there on a weeknight — the beer specials were very good, probably the best thing about the place. We had the pretzel with the beer cheese as an appetizer. I ordered this because we do not have beer cheese in the south. It was tasty however it could have used more cheese. My friend ordered the Mac and Cheese, not bad, it was Mac with various white cheeses. I ordered a half wedge salad which was very good. I also had the Italian sandwich with the housemade potato chips, both were good. The service was prompt and friendly. I have nothing to complain about except that there is nothing original about this place. This is why the 3-​star review.

Beer was good. Alcohol Selection was great. Service was not good. Working off the bar menu, items were late. Totally was unacceptable how rude staff were to us as the closing time approached. We were yelled at, told we had to leave as we were moving to the door anyway. Waitress acted like she was inconvenienced by our presence. I would not go to The Hill again.

I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is nice, loved the tall booths and any place that has a Moscow mule on the menu is usually worth a try. We started with some appetizers, the calamari and ceviche, and both were excellent. I would go back for the calamari alone – large, tender pieces, breaded and cooked perfectly. The ceviche was also excellent; so good we ordered another bowl.
The first disappointment was my cocktail, I ordered a mojito and it was way too sweet. Another couple of shots of soda probably would have solved the issue; however for the price I would expect a better mixed cocktail.
Problem number two was my entrée. I know that if you order a steak at a sports bar, even when it bills itself as ‘upscale’, you’re probably going to be disappointed. Well I was. I mistakenly believed that an establishment that lists a $ 26 Creekstone Farms filet on its menu would have kitchen staff that know how to properly cook it. What came out was a lump of grayish brown meat with absolutely no sear, just slight cross-​hatch grill marks. The steak was very underdone in the center, and ended up getting left behind on the plate. Really sad for what could have otherwise been a great cut of meat.
My friend ordered the carnitas street tacos, and aside from the side of rice, she seemed to really enjoy them.
I wouldn’t be opposed to give this place another try, sans steak. Would definitely go back for the calamari and ceviche.

Nice selection of beer. The patio area is kind of cool even though it’s a little blocked off with a screen and you’re next to a main street. There’s a TV out there, too. We just ordered appetizers since we weren’t that hungry. The sliders were good but I wish there was more sauce. I liked the garlic aioli the most. The calamari appetizer was very good. We never had calamari served like that before. The breading on it stayed on very well and the pieces were large– not the usual strips or rings style. You can actually taste the crab in the crab cakes. Our friends ordered the tacos, which I didn’t taste, but it looked good. We’ll be back again sometime to order entrees.

I’m still sitting in here right now. My husband and I ordered the street tacos and a couple of drinks. Everything thing was amazing! This place was definitely a good find for us!

This bar is fairly new but has become a staple for me when I’m looking to catch a game while I eat. The décor is well done, and the amount of TVs ensures you can see the game no matter where you sit. During big events (Royals in the World Series, Wichita State games, K-​State games, KU games) a big projection screen comes down for everyone to see.
The food and drink prices are a bit steep but comparable to other restaurants of this caliber. The drink selection is large, and the quality of the food is superb.
The two weaknesses I’ve seen at this place is a limited casual menu and occasionally mediocre service. The menu is a bit small and tends to bias toward meals that you’d expect to see at a finer dining establishment. If you are expecting sports bar style cuisine, you may be disappointed. At busier times, the wait staff can get behind a bit. It’s by no means bad service, but you may sit with an empty glass for a few minutes.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for a night out.

We’ve always been a fan of this place. Good craft beer selection & food has always been excellent. We tell all our friends about it. Had one «not so great» experience, but it was immediately rectified. They showed us they really care today. Big fan of this place.
The «Smoked Gouda Mac n Cheese» is awesome. My wife swears by the wedge salad & everything else we’ve had has been delish. Cheers!

We showed up on a Saturday with a party of 9. Ordered chips and salsa, onion rings and meatballs for appetizers. Chips and salsa came with a guacamole sauce. Meatballs were a mix of veal, chicken and beef. Onion rings were lightly breaded with virtually no grease.
Very impressed with the beer list. The beer list was organised by type, with % information next to each beverage. The listings were impressive.
I ordered trout with risotto topped with arugula. Phenomenal. Served with half Hill salad.
Outstanding service. I have a severe food allergy. The waitress notified the kitchen staff and she reported back to me that the salad dressing I had ordered may have cross contamination with my allergen.
The atmosphere is very cool– a unique bar where you can watch the games, but classier than your standard sports bar. Waitress was incredibly attentive. Plates were cleared promptly and food brought out quickly.
