I’ve had the pleasure of eating at this burger joint a hand full of times, each and every single time I’ve left completely satisfied. The wait staff is helpful and knowledgeable, the ambience is pub-ish, and most importantly the burgers/fries are on point. They offer a good assortment of burgers, classic, Hawaiian, brisket, Angus etc… fries are sold separately($ 2 for a side order & $ 4 for a basket), you can choose between fire, truffle, classic, duck fat or sweet potatoe, all of which are literally finger locking good. Be sure to ask your server to bring you one of each sauce, they have quite a few for dipping your fries. My personal opinion… Dempsey’s has the best burgers in town. Be sure to try it out for yourself.

Mackenzie Hudnall made my experience at Dempsey’s exceptional. The beer was cold and the food was delicious. I cannot wait to go back!!!

This is one of my favorite places to go in Wichita. I’ve been multiple times since being back in town for Christmas break. Last week I went there with a group of six people, a couple of them were going for the first time. Service was excellent, Chris, the bartender started us off with a round of drinks. We ordered a few craft beers and Moscow Mules. Dempsey’s has a couple of different flavored Moscow Mules to choose from which we thought was interesting. Aside from original we ordered lime and grapefruit. All of them were good. Tyler our server was really friendly. He was extremely helpful in recommending something for those who had not been there before. The Hot Hawaiian Kobe Burger is my go to. The Bacon Mushroom Swiss, the Bleu and the House are some of the ones I switch to from time to time. The only Complaint I have is they were out of sweet potato fries and duck fat fries so I had to settle for their truffle fries. Even though all three are good. They still get 5 stars because I went back two days later and got some sweet potato fries.

I didn’t think a burger and fries got better than the Lawrence location, but I was wrong! Consistently amazing food at the Wichita location. Dempsey’s has a small two story location with many tvs and great service! They have many delicious sauces to choose from, but I recommend the siracha and the truffle as my favorites. They always have great beer on tap. If anybody wants a damn good burger, I take them to Dempsey’s.

This place has just about everything going for it… great ambiance in a trendy square of town. The gourmet burgers are among the top 3 places to go to get a good burger in town. Most of my friends love the Bacon Swiss burger; but I usually get the Smoked Stack burger. The fries are great too — Truffle fries are a way to go; but I usually prefer to get the fries and all the dipping sauces. I had a hot toddy during my last visit which is the best I’ve ever had. They have a great beer selection as well. I have only 2 little complaints — for one, they could use some more seating. It’s been overcrowded about every time I’ve been there(about 8 times). Secondly, I can honestly say this is the only place I have this issue — the hostesses are always extremely confused. It may be, in part, because this pub has a basement too, so communication when tables clear out isn’t happening. But, the hostesses always seem flustered and clueless when asked about the table(s) we’re waiting for. This place does NOT accommodate groups well due to table arrangements and just lack of enough seating. I’ve tried 3 times on different nights and it’s never worked. The burgers, fries, drink selection, and ambiance still make this place worth going back to, time and again.

A yummy grill and bar in a fantasic neighborhood! Love the variety of juicy hamburgers, the atmosphere, the fries. Cocktails are not a specialty so I’d recommend sticking with beer, the friendly staff makes great recommendations.

The food here is pretty good! Lots of unique menu options and great service. I loved the different sauces that we were able to try. The burgers were okay, but I liked the atmosphere and overall feel of the place. Overall I give it a B. Might come back during our next visit to Wichita!

Very good burgers. Very creative and unique specials. Truffle fries were great. Comfortable, cozy, and clean atmosphere. Not a large dining area in the main area but there is a nice seating area outside as well.

Just for the fries alone I would go back, but the burger options(quinoa patties? Yussss) are what really makes this a more interesting restaurant. Loooove the spicy options available. Typically there’s a wait, though, and it’s not usually a short one. Service is quick once you’re inside, and it’s worth it.

This place is always packed on the weekend. Great burgers, solid beer list, and excellent fries. I wouldn’t recommend going on weekend night unless your willing to wait. This one of the best burger places in Wichita.

Amazing atmosphere and always great beers on tap, they even carry local beers. The burgers are the best in town hands down. They have a new special every week at least, sometimes more. It isn’t the cheapest in town and the burgers don’t come with fries but the fries can be truffle or duck fat and are both worth the extra money.

Two stars just because the service was great! In my opinion everybody is giving the burgers a little more credit than they deserve and my fries were way too damn salty … I would rather eat five guys!

This place is legit. It kinda makes me wish I was still living in Wichita, just so I could frequent Dempsey’s. I visited last winter with a friend, but we went straight downstairs and sat at the bar all night. We didn’t have any of their food, but my friend had positive things to say about it. I had a great experience that night; we were able to sit and play Phase 10 without getting bugged(or made fun of, I guess, for being the nerds playing Phase 10 at a bar) and our bartender was super nice and friendly. This time around, when we were visiting Wichita and spending time with family, I recommended Dempsey’s because of the positive reviews for their burgers on Unilocal. The six of us were able to get seated right away, and our server was attentive throughout the evening. They had a beer special of some kind, even on a Friday evening, and the rest of my family was able to get the drinks/beer of their choosing. My sis-in-law and I made an executive decision to order ALL of the fries as appetizers, because why not? I think everyone had their favorites, but all of them were winners in my book. The truffle fries could’ve used a bit more truffle, but the hot fries were delicious, along with the duck fat fries. Dipping sauces were great as well. We also decided to share the quinoa veggie burger, which turned out to be a great decision. It was perfect for two people to share(especially if those two people just gorged on a plethora of fries) and of course, it came with more fries for us to enjoy. We went with the sweet potato fries this time around, which were yummy. The quinoa patty itself was interesting, with an asian-y flavor and great texture. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but somehow they made the patty soft and chewy without it falling apart. Kudos! Occasionally I bit into a large piece of ginger, which was not my favorite thing in the world, but other than that it was perfect. The rest of my family enjoyed their burgers as well. My father in law really enjoyed his, so that’s a win, and everyone left happy. Now the only problem is being so far away from enjoying this delicious restaurant.

One of the better burgers in Wichita. Highly recommend truffle fries. Fresh cut and cooked nice and crisp. Ask to try their dipping sauces… all made in house… love, love the sarache dipping sauce. Will be back.

The burgers are really good. The wings are decent. And the fries are truly amazing here. The fire fries are a personal favorite. My only complaints are the occasional warm-ish beer and jacked up parking in this quaint little retail complex.

Cute little burger joint with a whole lot of space inside. Upon entering we were greeted with cheerful customer service. We informed the hostess that we have never been there. She gave us a tour and offered seating anywhere. We chose the pub like basement. She introduced us to our waiter. He was very sweet and informative. We went with the Hot Hawaiian burger, the egg burger and a basket of truffle fries with home made sauces– ketchup, truffle sauce and sweet Chile. The toasted buns were not your average seasame seed or burger bun but made of a more dense fulfilling bun like that of a pretzel type. Overall my tummy was happy!

I’ve been wanting to try this place since it opened. It did not disappoint. I ordered the Egg Burger with a side of Truffle Fries. The burger had great flavor and was juicy. The brioche bun added to the texture of the burger which made it hearty. The only complaint on my burger was the egg was fully cooked, but since the burger was so moist it didn’t really matter. The truffle fries were good with the homemade sauces. Service was lacking attention. It seemed like such a small place, especially when it gets packed and people are standing in the doorway waiting for a table. Overall, this restaurant will be my go to place for a burger.

It shouldn’t have taken this long to get a proper upscale burger experience in Wichita. I know we all like the occasional half-pound of meat and grease that can be found at any of the many joints peppered around town, but we can strive for something better, to pay attention to every component of the sandwich and how it all contributes to the harmonious orchestra that plays every time we take a bite of a truly worthy burger. Dempsey’s, the third outpost of a growing chain started in Lawrence, has had eight years to refine their boutique burgers before arriving in Wichita, and the experience shows. Everything is homemade. The menu is short and focused, centering around tried and true combinations while providing a handful of rotating opportunities to get creative. The fries are everything you could ever want in the perfect french fry: crispy long after they arrive to your table and with an alarming tendency to disappear amid the homemade ketchup and a variety of other sauces. A simple blue cheese burger with bacon and onion confiture offered the classic flavors that have been explored in this space before, but were elevated by the quality of the Maytag blue cheese, the thick cut bacon, and the smart sweetness of the onion jam. On another visit, the restaurant’s creativity shone with a Thai burger that included a pineapple jalapeño chutney, sweet chili aioli, peanut butter sauce, bacon, and cilantro. Any one of these ingredients in the wrong proportions would dominate the burger, but they were applied with enough tact so that the sweet and savory played well together. If anything, it’s the menu’s fancier items that let me down. Kobe burgers are a waste of money, as everything that is desirable about that type of beef is lost when it’s ground and covered with condiments. The weak watercress in that burger didn’t do much to support the meat, either. The truffle fries weren’t fried nearly as well as the standard version. Even the fire fries, which were doused in a chili-garlic oil, maintained their crispiness better. Choosing the rustic kitsch of Clifton Square was smart, and the casual pub atmosphere really works. The beer selection does, too, putting a lot of emphasis on Boulevard, Deschutes, and Odell. Earlier this week the Kansas City Star reported that Dempsey’s was entering their market by buying out the Westport Blanc Burgers + Bottles. It’s a move that makes perfect sense — both businesses offer the premium burger, fries, and beer experience, but Dempsey’s has found success in downplaying the atmosphere in an attempt to place the focus on the food. Altogether, it’s my new favorite place to get a burger in Wichita.

It was a stormy Wednesday night but my gal was hungry so we ventured out to face impending doom. Thankfully Dempsey’s had just recently opened up in my neighborhood and they have a basement. Burgers and whiskey, my kinda storm party. I ordered the Smoke Stack(Smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, house BBQ sauce, & lettuce) and Sweet Potato Fries with Sweet Chili Aioli dipping sauce. The dipping sauces are really what makes this place stand out from other burger joints. They have so many sauces all made from scratch like Spicy Mustard, Old Bay & Tomato Coulis Aioli, Sweet Chili Aioli, Truffle Cream, Roasted Garlic Aioli. So you can really go all out with your dipping! I like to get real crazy and mix a couple together sometimes! Overall it’s a decent establishment. The burgers are good, the service is alright and the atmosphere is cool. They have a cocktail list but I haven’t explored it much. I’d probably enjoy it more if I hadn’t been to the original Dempsey’s in Lawrence first. But it’s still fairly new, plenty of time to grow and hone their business. Either way it’s a great addition to the College Hill neighborhood and Clifton Square.
