My family stops here almost every Thursday for supper. You can get all you can eat catfish and fries during the weekend. the customer service is so-so, but the food is isn’t the best BBQ in Texas, but good for whitney

OMG!!! best catfish I’ve ever eaten ! They make everything fresh, including the tartar sauce which my husband who never eat it ate a bunch of it and raved about how delish it was! ! They even make real potato french fries. All you can eat catfish with fries, doesn’t get any better than that! ! They also have BBQ, didn’t try it but we hooked on the fish. Hahaha. Don’t let the rugged exterior fool you, this is definitely a little gem located in Whitney Tx.

We had their catfish for the first time and it was excellent. They have nuggets instead of filets, but they were delicious. Perfectly light and tasty batter. A big surprise was their cole slaw. It was really exceptional. Spicy. Not too spicy, but just a perfect blend with a little kick. I’m a new fan. Barbeque is great too, but it was a nice surprise about the catfish!

I have eaten here several times over the last year and a half and I’m always amazed by the quality of their brisket, bear in mind in this part of the country everyone knows how to cook brisket but there’s shines way above all the rest! Also have a great atmosphere it’s like an extension of your home kitchen. the gentleman in the back that carves all the meat is an expert!

Garbage. Old lady at counter very disrespectful. Gave me the wrong beans. I took plate back and she scooped the beans back into the mass container for others to eat. Hmmm… fail.

Had as nice lunch at Hooten’s Holler! BBQ sauce is a bit spicy for some, but, we liked it a lot. They have the best coleslaw in town! Turkey and sausage was tender and delicious. The pork«tender» loin was very tough and dry. Folks are very friendly and have a nice relaxed atmosphere!

One of our only restaurant choices nearby Lake Whitney or else we probably wouldn’t have eaten there. The food was ok. Ribs were seasoned well but their bbq sauce is watery and spicy so kids couldn’t eat it. All you can eat fish was good price but it’s not fillets, it’s nuggets. And we had to wait for a refill(it’s not a buffet style). The old lady taken orders and money at counter was not very friendly. We seemed to be taking up her time while we looked over menu and made our decision. She never smiled at us, thanked us or said much other than to repeat our order. And then there were the locals… omg. I get we are in the sticks and lots of folks come from fishing all day but these people were filthy. One guy addressed my beyond tired, throwing a minor fit four year old not once but twice after which I snapped off on him. If ever in Whitney again we will NOT be stopping at this tiny little dump of a redneck joint that wasn’t any bigger than my living room and I’m pretty sure they are illegally employing a minor because the little girl serving couldn’t have been more than 12 or 13. When in Whitney try Tres Hermanos instead. Great food and awesome service.

Stopped here out of hunger while touring Central Texas. We saw a roadside sign. I had really excellent sliced brisket, ribs and all the fixins. They had fresh from the garden fried squash that day that was as good as it gets. Authentic, down-home family BBQ restaurant. The place was rustic/dumpy but clean and well organized with fun stuff on the walls. NOT kitschy. **ABSOLUTELYPERFECT** (well, I wish they had a liquor license to sell beer :-(

Good brisket. A bit fatty. Great beans and corn. Lots of locals. Brownies and sauce are supposed to be good. Decent prices.

Really good(not great) barbeque. Have had brisket sandwiches many times. The brisket is always tender and tasty. The ribs are also pretty good but they need some more smoke. Potato salad is good; cole slaw average
