If I was still in high school I’d give Whitman Public Library five stars. It opened in 1988 or 89 when I was in fourth grade. At the time it was one of the nicest in the area. They have always done a lot of reading programs for the small kids in town. If you go here try to get in before school gets out. After 230 it’s full of middle school and high school kids working on reports and whatnot. More whatnot than reports. I was a kid once to, so I don’t blame them for it. Just know enough to avoid them. Anyway, it’s a small town with a small budget so they wont have everything you’re looking for. They are part of a bigger network so they can get something if you really want to wait for it. They also have a small collection of DVD’s so if you’re in a bind and can’t afford Hollywood Video, that is an option for you.

Great library, great staff. Everyone there is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. This library is the epitome of a modern information center with plenty of public access computers, wireless internet, work spaces, conference room, and community room. The staff are savvy and up to date and the collection is impressive for such a small town. If you are local to the area, check this place out. It is a great spot to park yourself for research, entertainment, children’s programming, or just to relax and read a book.
