I am not sure why this is marked as closed, because as of Nov 17th2013, it is definitely open. I found the place by accident. My wife was having our baby at White Plains Hospital and while there, I decided to search out some non hospital cafeteria food. I followed a bunch of doctors and nurses out of the ER entrance, across the street and into this deli. I was not expecting much, figured I would get a bacon egg and cheese on a roll. Instead, I stood and watched while the nurses ordered breakfast burritos bursting with eggs, home fries, spicy chorizo, onions, bacon and jalapeños. I followed suit and had something incredibly delicious that filled me up for two meals. I now work nearby and stop by at least once a week for the fantastic tacos(al pastor and chorizo are both amazing). They also make a great chicken soup for when you are under the weather. Ask them to throw in some jalapeños for a truly epic burn. And they have tasty daily specials(roast pork, chicken, beef stew etc) with rice and beans which are also good to try out. Get the phone number and do what I do; call them with your taco order so it will be ready when you swing by 10 min later.

Across the street from the White Plains Hospital hides the most incredible Mexican oasis. In a desperate search for food in an otherwise barren area, I poked my head into this generic brick front bodega. At first glance, it seemed like any other Latin grocery, but I was hungry. Between 2 people, we ordered 6 tacos(our standard taco order). The tacos were THEBEST I’ve ever had, and I’ve been actively searching! It was the usual small corn double tortilla and your choice of chicken, carnitas, al pastor, bistec asado, chorizo, cecina, and lengua. We tried carnitas, al pastor, chorizo, and bistec. Unlike most places, the meat wasn’t 50% fat chunks. The cuts were lean, and cooked to a beautiful brown exterior crust. we watched as the guy grilled up our meats on the plancha, and topped it off with onion, cilantro and a lime on the side. Along with it, they offer a spicy and flavorful green salsa(jalapeño, avocado, lime) which is one of the best green salsas I’ve had(as good, if not better than Philly’s Taqueria Veracruzana). The browned meat and spicy salsa alone make for the best tacos I’ve ever had. Don’t let this dumpy little grocery store fool you. They really know their stuff, and they have inexpensive 40’s of Sol and other genre-appropriate cervezas.
